Objective To investigate the quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC)of intravenous injection in the radiology department. Methods The data from 1352 cases of intravenous injection in the radiology department were analyzed retrospectively. Results The bulge in region of the intravenous injection have been found in 28 cases, regional cyanochroia in 52 cases, allergic response in 25 cases, hypoglycemia response in 58 cases. Conclusion It is important to strengthen the QA and QC of intravenous injection in the radiology department.

Selection of utilization of carbon source in soya oligosaccharide by three strains of S.cerevisiae was studied.The results showed that S.cerevisiae C could selectively utilize sucrose and the residual rate of stachyose and raffinose could be more than 96%.Using yeast extract as nitrogen source,the sucrose could be used up after 36 hours of culture.Further study showed that the content of sucrose in soya oligosaccharide powder was less than 1.3% after fermentation of waste water of soy whey and downstream processing.

Objective To investigate the value of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging ( DCE-MRI) in differentiating serological negative early stage rheumatoid arthritis (RA) from osteoarthritis (OA)in hand. Methods Plain MRI, enhanced MRI of whole hand and DCE-MRI of single slice were performed in 53 patients suspected of RA or OA and 18 healthy volunteers. Twenty-three of them were diagnosed as RA,including 18 cases of serological negative RA and 18 of them were diagnosed as OA after 3 to 6 months follow-up. The contrast rate,slope, thickening of synovial membrane were measured on DCE-MRI in three groups and the MRI findings were also were detected in both RA and OA groups. The contrast rate and slope of synovial membrane were compared among three groups using rank sum test. The thickening of synovial membrane were compared among three groups using variance analysis. MRI signs of RA and OA group were evaluated with rank sum test Results The dynamic contrast rate of synovial membrane in RA group,OA group and control group was(100.78±61.96)%,(40.44±15.43)% and (23.56±9.14)%,respectively.Individually,RA group to OA group,u=3.101,P=0.002;RA group to control group,u=4.669,P=0.000;OA group to control group,u=3.482,P=0.000.The slope of contrast curve of synodal membrane of RA group,OA group and control group was 72.50°±13.34°,45.39°±9.94°,14.56°±5.75°,respectively.Individually,RA group to OA group,u=8.002,P=0.000;RA group to control group,u=17.102,P=0.000;OA group to control group,u=9.100,P=0.000.The synovial membrane thickening of RA group,OA group and control group was(3.3±0.5),(2.8±0.7)and (1.4±0.6)mm,respectively.Individually,RA group to OA group,q=2.622,P=0.011;RA group to control group,q=9.583,P=0.000;OA group to control group,q=6.961,P=0.000.Conclusion The quantitative index of DCE-MRI,including contrast rate and synovial membrane thickening may provide useful information for differentiating OA from semlogical negative early stage RA.The contrast rate and thickening of synovial membrane in RA group are higher than those in OA group.Many signs of MRI Can help differentiate OA from RA.

Chemotherapy-induced neuropathy is a serious clinical problem for patients receiving cancer treatment. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential efficacy of pregabalin in chemotherapy-induced neuropathy in rats. A total of 35 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: group 1, naive control; group 2, treated with pregabalin (30 mg/kg p.o., for 8 days); group 3, docetaxel was given by single intravenous infusion at 10 mg/kg; groups 4 and 5, pregabalin at 10 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg respectively was orally administered for 8 days after the docetaxel treatment. On day 8, behavioral test was performed, and substance P and CGRP release in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and sciatic nerve were analyzed by electron microscope. Our results showed that docetaxel induced mechanical allodynia, mechanical hyperalgesia, heat hypoalgesia, cold allodynia, and sciatic nerve impairment and substance P and CGRP release in DRG. However, oral administration of pregabalin (10 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg) for 8 consecutive days significantly attenuated docetaxel-induced neuropathy by ameliorating heat hypoalgesia, cold allodynia, impairment of sciatic nerve and reducing the release of substance P and CGRP. The findings in the present study reveal that pregabalin may be a potential treatment agent against chemotherapy-induced neuropathy.

Objective To investigate the effects of miR-10a expression on migration and invasion of human pancreatic cancer cells AsPC-1.Methods Small interfering RNA targeting at miR-10a (miR-10a-siRNA) was constructed,then it was transfected into pancreatic cancer AsPC-1 cells,and nonsense siRNA (Nc-siRNA) group and blank control group was established.Real time PCR assay was used to detect the expression of miR-10a in the 3 groups,and wound healing assay and Transwell assay were used to determine the migration and invasion abilities of cancer cells.The amount of matrix metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13) in supernatant of cancer cell culture of each group was examined by ELISA assay.Results The miR-10a levels in control group,NC-siRNA group and miR-10a-siRNA group were 1.05 ±0.08,1.03 ±0.06,0.02 ±0.01 ; and the number of transmembrane cell were (150 ± 2.6),(145 ± 2.2),(62 ± 1.8),the levels of MMP-13 in the supernatant were (108.5 ± 2.8),(107.8 ± 2.5),(35.8 ± 1.5) pg/ml.The values were significantly lower in miR-10a-siRNA group than those in control group and NC-siRNA group (P ＜ 0.01).The distance of cultured clone in miR-10a treated cancer cells (736± 18 μm) was significantly longer than those in the controls (385 ±5 μm) and NC-siRNA group (395± 13 μm,P＜0.01).Conclusions Down-regulation of miR-10a by siRNA may inhibit migration and invasion of pancreatic cancer AsPC-1 cells,and the downregulated expression of MMP-13 may be one of the important mechanisms.

AIM: To investigate the probably mechanism of amniotic extraction inhibiting haze formation after epipolis laser in situ keratomileusis (Epi-LASIK) in rabbit cornea.METHODS: Thirty rabbit corneas were performed with Epi-LASIK.All eyes were randomly divided into three groups: eyes treated with amniotic extraction (AE group),eyes treated with 1g/L dexamethasone (hormone group) and eyes treated with solvent (solvent control group).Haze grade evaluation was performed under the slit lamp after Epi-LASIK for 1,4 and 8wk.The repair of corneal epithelium was observed by using HE staining,and the expression of NF-kB protein P65 was detected by immunohistochemistry.The expression levels of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α,TGF-β1 and IL-1) and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-4,IL-10 and IL-13) were determined by ELISA.RESULTS: HE staining showed that the basal cells of corneal epithelium were more uniform and arranged regularly in AE groups after Epi-LASIK for 1wk as compared with the hormone group and the solvent control group.After 4wk,there were a few of new collagen fibers in the superficial stroma of AE group,forming a small amount of scar.After 8wk,the corneal stroma of AE group showed a small amount of new collagen fibers,arranged regularly,and rarely formed scar.At the early stage (1 and 4wk),AE treatment has an obviously effect on inhibiting the secretion of inflammatory factors (TNF-α,TGF-β1 and IL-1) and anti-inflammatory factors (IL-4,IL-10 and IL-13),and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01).Moreover,the activation of the NF-kB signaling pathway was significantly inhibited by treatment with AE in the early postoperative period (1 and 4wk).CONCLUSION: Amniotic extraction may reduce the inflammatory response in corneal epithelial cells by inhibiting the NF-kB signaling pathway,thereby inhibiting the formation of collagen and scar and the occurrence of haze.

Objective To access the development of thoracic volume of pectus excavatum use of Nuss operation used CT-basedpulmonary volumetric evaluation.Methods 98 patients with pectus excavatum in Beijing Children's Hospital under Nuss operation were documented.All patients had CT scan pre-and postopration.The CT-scan's data were calculated as lung's volume by handdraw-layers summation method.The lung's volume result was compared,and enquiry the position in CT lung volume developmental scale.Results The lung's volume was elevated 28.3％ after operation.The development of thoracic volume was keep with age,70％ was maintained and 15％ was elevated.Conclusion Nuss operation can prevent the decrease of thoracic volume in pectus excavatum.

Objective To observe diffusion changes of epiphysis of femoral head with ischemia of difference phases by line-scan diffusion weighted imaging(LSDWI),and determine whether LSDWI can provide temporal information and severity about ischemia of epiphysis.Methods lschemia was surgically induced in one hip of each piglet(n=25)and the other hip served as a normal control.Piglets were imaged before surgery and at 3 hours,72 hours and 1,3 and 6 weeks after surgery by using LSDWI.Apparent difrusion coefficients(A DC)in epiphysis of the femoral heads were calculated.Significant difierences in ADC values between ischemia group and control group were found by using paired t-test.After scan at individual time points,5 piglets were sacrificed for histological study each time.Results The ADC value in the ischemic femoral heads f(1.22±0.37)×10-3 mm2/s]decreased significantiy at 3 hours after surgery (t=3.914,P＜0.01),compared to that in control[(1.73±0.33)×10-3mm2/s},and increased at 72 hours[(2.15±0.32)×10-3mm2/s versus(1.70±0.22)×10-3 mm2/s](t=3.348,P＜0.01).Then ADC valne kept increasing until 6 weeks after surgery[(1.61±0.27)×10-3mm2/s in ischemia side vs (1.11±0.45)×10-3mm2/s in the control](t=4.136,P＜0.01).rrhe percentage change of the ADC value significandy increased at 3 hours,72 hours,1 and 3 week(s)after the surgery(P＜0.01),compared to that at the prior neighboring time point.No significant increase in the percentage change of ADC value was found between the 3rd week and the 6th week after the surgery(t=2.29.P＞0.05).Histological examinations revealed abnormal thickening within epiphyseal cartilage,and cartilaginous islands within ossified tissues.Growth disturbante wag found in form of focal growth plate disruption.Conclusions Dynamic changes of ADC values were found with the prolonged ischemia of the femoral head by LSDWI.It could serve as a useful marker for evaluating duration and extent of ischemic epiphyseal disruption.

ObjectiveTo compare orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT)and combined liverkidney transplantation (CLKT) in the treatment of severe hepatitis B.MethodsIn this study 52 patients of severe hepatitis B were allocated to OLT (40 cases) or CLKT( 12 cases) at our department from Jan.2001 to Sep.2005.The perioperative complications and the result of follow-up were analyzed.ResultsThe preoperative renal functions in CLKT cases were severer than that in OLT cases.Postoperative severe infection was more common in CLKT cases than that in OLT cases.In OLT group 28 patients (70％)suffered from early posttransplant renal dysfunction,among them 11 patients needed dialysis,whilst there were 2 (16.7％ ) patients who needed dialysis in CLKT group (P ＜0.01 ).The posttransplant mortality in OLT group was 40％ ( n =16),significantly higher than that in CLKT ( 16.7％,n =2) ( P ＜ 0.01 ).In OLT group,9 cases developed severe renal failure and died.No one died of renal failure in CLKT group.ConclusionsThe prognosis is more favorable to perform CLKT in patients who suffered from severe hepatitis B with chronic renal dysfunction before transplantation.

BACKGROUND: How to promote the regeneration after peripheral nerve injury, especially after large defects, is a difficulty to be solved.OBJECTIVE: To review the mechanism of Wallerian degeneration and the development of nerve conduits.METHODS: PubMed database was searched for the literatures addressing the modular mechanism of Wallerian degeneration and nerve repair using the English keywords peripheral nerve regeneration, Wallerian degeneration, nerve guidance conduits. A total of 74 eligible literatures were included based on the exclusion criteria.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Rat SARM1 and fruit fly dSARM have been found to be highly implicated in Wallerian degeneration, indicating that the changes of nicotinamide adenine nucleotide/nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide may be related to the activated SARM1. Whether delaying Wallerian degeneration is good or bad is still in dispute. The future study should focus on the early inhibition of Wallerian degeneration and promotion of neuroregeneration following peripheral nerve injury.
