By taking the course of laboratory hematology in Curtin University in Australia as an ex-ample, this paper introduced the characteristics of its teaching mode, teaching contents, teaching methods, assessment methods and laboratory practice. The advantages and disadvantages of education characteristics between Australia and China were compared and analyzed on the training methods and the training objec-tives, respectively. The education characteristics of laboratory hematology in Curtin University provided an important inspiration for our education reform in the field of medical laboratory in the future.

We overviewed the policies and regulations of traditional Chinese medicine of main Asian countries and summarized current situation of policies and regulations of traditional Chinese medicine in Asian markets. After in-depth analysis,we found that the opportunities lied in high public awareness, some Asian countries establishing special traditional medicine management agencies, special Pharmacopoeia of traditional Chinese medicine in Japan and South Korea, and high degree of acupuncture legalization. At the same time, traditional Chinese medicine also faced with the challenges such as strict technical standard and TBT barriers. In the end of this paper,we came up with some development countermeasures when traditional Chinese medicine accessing Asian markets, such as improving technical standards, establishing an anti-technical barriers to trade service system, encouraging technological innovation, and strengthening domestic and international exchanges and cooperation.

Objective To explore the changs of serum brain type creatine kinase isoenzyme(CK-BB),cystatin C of newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) and assess their applications. Methods The serum concentrations of CK-BB and cystatin C were measured by turbidimertric immunoassay in 56 HIE newborns and 42 normal neonates. Results 1.Compared with controls, the concentration of serum CK-BB in moderate HIE newborns had significant differences(P

Objective To investigate the clinical features, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),treatment, and follow-up of patients with glutaric aciduria type Ⅰ (GA-1).Methods Four pediatric patients with GA-1 diagnosed in our hospital were included in this study. They were treated with special diets and carnitine supplements.MRI and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) were performed, and the mental development indices were measured. Results GA-1 was confirmed 2 months,13 months,4 months, and 7 months after birth.Seizure had been observed before the disease diagnosis in three patients and disappeared after treatment. In all four patients,T2-weighted brain MRI showed frontotemporal atrophy or hypoplasia and enlarged subarachnoid space in the sylvian fissures and anterior to the temporal lobes.Diffusion weighted imaging revealed high-density lesions over both the putamen and globus pallidus. The patients were followed up for 4 to 5 years.Plasma amino acids and acylcamitine profile were monitored every 3-5 months. The mean C5DC level and C5DC/C8 were kept the higher limits of the normal ranges, especially in case 3.During the follow-up,the body weight was at-2 SD-0 and the height at-1 SD-0.Intellectual development test showed that case 1 and case 4 had mildly abnormal intelligence, whereas case 2 and case 3 had extremely severe intellectual disability.Gene test confirmed the presence of gene mutations in all four cases, including IVS10-2A > C homozygous mutation in cases 1,3,and 4 and [IVS10-2A > C] + [c.245G >c(p.Arg82Pro)] hybrid mutation in case 2.Two female children were smoothly enrolled by local kindergarten, while two male children were unable to walk alone due to delayed motor development and spastic paralysis. Conclusions The phenotype of GA-1 patients is not remarkably correlated with its genotype correlation.Newborn screening is essential for identifying GA-1 patients.

Aim To prepare for psoriasis transgenic animals, psoriasis susceptible gene was constructed. Methods Extract gDNA from blood preparations of psoriasis patients, screen positive gDNA owns HLA-Cw*0602 gene, then copy the whole sequence and link it to pMD-19T Simple Vector. Results The identification showed the construction of psoriasis susceptible gene was sucessful. Conclusion The successful construction of HLA-Cw*0602 gene will lay the foundation for development of transgenic animal models of psoriasis.

With the increasing trade amount of herbal medicine over the world, many foreign countries took non-tariff barriers such as technical regulations, technical standard and conformity assessment procedures,of which the most far-reaching impact of green trade barriers on the export of traditional Chinese medicine. We analyzed the three green trade barriers faced by the traditional Chinese medicine assessing international markets, and summarized the impacts of green trade barriers on the export of traditional Chinese medicine from the two aspects of positive and negative. In the end of this study,we came up with some strategies to deal with green trade barriers:to promote the establishment of standard system; to ensure the quality of traditional Chinese medicine products; to implement green production; to cultivate environmental awareness; to pursue international certification; and to enhance corporate brand image.

Objective To investigate the adaptive immune responses in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease during acute exacerbations (ECOPD) and effects of the immunostimulating agent Pidotimod in ECOPD patients. Methods A randomized, prospective clinical trial was held, and 103 patients with ECOPD were recruited into the study. Seventy-five patients aged 65 years and over were divided into two groups: 38 patients with general treatment as a control group and 37 patients with general treatment plus pidotimod as an experimental group. Another non-elderly groups comprised 28 patients younger than 65, and 20 healthy individuals served as the healthy elderly control. Levels of CD3+ , CD4+ , CD8+ , CD4+ /CD8+ in peripheral blood were measured by flow cytometry at baseline (the 1st day) and at the 15th and 30th treatment day, meanwhile, the clinical conditions were evaluated. Results Ninety-one patients completed the trial (32 in experimental group,34 in control group and 25 in non-eldely group). The experimental group and control group were statistically homogeneous. The aged COPD intervention group and aged COPD control had a more decreased CD4+ level, CD4+/CD8+ ratio and more increased CD8+ level, while compared with aged health control and non-elderly COPD control (all P
