BACKGROUND: Establishment of lumbar disc degeneration in animal models can help doctors understand the development rules and pathophysiological changes of this disease, and can explore and research more rational treatment by creating animal models.OBJECTIVE: To review recent advances in vivo model of lumbar disc degeneration.METHODS: The first author used the computer to search related articles on PubMed database and Chinese Journal Full-text Database from inception to May 2016. The search key words were lumbar disc, degeneration, animal model, vivo model. A total of 161 related articles were retrieved and 49 of them met the inclusion criteria.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Building an intuitive and reliable animal model of lumbar disc degeneration will not only help the basic research of degenerative disc disease, but also provide a good experimental carrier for the repair treatment of degenerative lumbar disc. (2) After more than 80 years of development, the animal model of lumbar disc degeneration has formed a production mode of more species, more methods and newer ideas. Current models have their own advantages, cannot be replaced. However, problems such as poor controllability, low degree of safety or long observation period are still exiting more or less. All these need further research and exploration.

Objective To study the relationship between salt consumption and hypertension in Chinese people, and provide basic information for developing intervention strategies.Method The data of 45 349 chinese residents aged 15 yrs and above from 2002 China National Nutrition and Health Survey was used. Results The hypertension prevalence was 18.2%.The prevalence of residents with high blood pressure value was 36.0%,which was 20.4% and 16.2% among men and women, respectively. Hypertension prevalence among people living in urban was higher than their counterparts living in rural. The prevalence of hypertension increased with salt consumption. As compared to people who consumed less than 6 g salt per day, after relative confounding factors adjusted, the prevalence ratio was 1.09,1.14 and 1.28 times, respectively, among people who averagely consumed 6~12 g,12218 g,and≥18 g salt per day, which was 1.13,1.11 and 1.30 times, respectively, among employment population. Conclusion The hypertension prevalence of chinese residents is quite high. There is significant relationship between salt consumption and hypertension. It is very important to strengthen the health education for preventing and controlling hypertension in Chinese residents.
4.Optimization of hybridization efficiency in cDNA chip technology.
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2002;37(2):153-157
AIMThere are many factors affecting hybridization in cDNA chip: DNA concentration immobilized on glass surface, spotting solution dissolving DNA, the concentration and purity of fluorescence-labeled probe, hybridization solution, hybridization temperature, hybridization time, Cy3- and Cy5-labeled probes, etc. In order to improve hybridization efficiency, tests were designed to optimize these factors.
METHODSFactors are changed one by one. Optimal values are selected by comparing those of different groups.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONThe efficient hybridization condition is as follows: 0.50 microgram.microL-1 DNA fragments resolved in 1 x Micro Spotting Solution (ArrayIt) hybridize with purified fluorescent probe in 0.5% SDS/10 x SSC at 42 degrees C.

Objective To evaluate interventional therapy in the treatment of interposition graft stenosis or occlusion after mesocaval shunts. Methods The clinical data of 19 cases of artificial vessel stenosis or occlusion after mesocaval shunts for portal hypertension at our department from march 2009 to march 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Results In the 19 cases with artificial vessels stenosis or occlusion developed after mesocaval interposition shunts for portal hypertension, there were 5 cases in which acute thrombosis occurred within a week after the surgery.Catheter directed thrombolysis was successfully conducted. In 6 cases in which shunt stenosis developing 1 to 8 years after surgery were managed by balloon dilatation or stent angioplasty successfully. The shunt graft occlusion occurred in 8 cases after 1 to 4 years of surgery was successfully managed and the shunt was reopened by balloon dilatation or stent angioplasty in 6 cases, and in 2 the procedure was failed for the guide wire can't go through the anastomotic site of artificial vessel-superior mesenteric vein.In 11 cases embolization of the esophagogastric varices was successfully carried out for postoperative standard anticoagulation.During a period of 3 months to 3 years follow-up,stenosis recurred 1 year after balloon dilatation in one case, and stenosis was managed by angioplasty successfully. Conclusions Interventional radiological techniques by percutaneous puncture through femoral vein-inferior vena cava-artificial vessel-portal vein (including catheter directed thrombolysis, balloon dilatation, stent placement, etc) are less traumatic, highly successful in the treatment of shunt stenosis or occlusion after mesocaval shunts in portal hypertension.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(07):-
AIM: To investigate the affected proteins by tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-? in endothelial cells, and further explore the potential molecular mechanism of TNF-? on endothelial cells. METHODS: Nitric oxide (NO) production in the cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) was measured by a NO assay kit. Proteomic alterations were analyzed using two-dimensional electrophoresis, and peptide mass fingerprinting with matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry. RESULTS: NO production in HUVECs decreased significantly after TNF-? treatement. Proteomics analysis showed 21 protein spots were changed including 9 spots that were increased and 11 spots that were decreased after TNF-? stimulation, and 1 spot was only detected in TNF-? activated cell gels. CONCLUSIONS: The decreased expression of ecNOS by TNF-? might result in decrease in NO production. Up-regulated MAP/ERK kinase 3 expression might imply that TNF-? activates the expression of adhesion molecules. Cytoskeletal protein actin is also involved in TNF-? injuried HUVECs. Proteomic analysis can find some clues for identifying new potential target of TNF-?. [

OBJECTIVETo discuss the treatment of compound betamethasone injection in cases with the intractable low-frequency sensorineural hearing loss (LFSNHL).
METHODSCompound betamethasone injection 1 ml had been injected postaural only once to 23 cases with the unilateral LFSNHL, then observe the effect and follow-up at least 6 months. At the same time, the same therapy used to 4 cases with the binaural LFSNHL. The control group gave Merislon and Sibelium peroral for 2 weeks to 18 cases with the unilateral LFSNHL.
RESULTSIn unilateral LFSNHL group, twelve cases recovered, 7 cases had the hearing improved and 4 cases were ineffective in 23 cases. The efficiency was 82.6%. 2 cases (2 ears) showed hearing falling at low-frequency after 2-3 months. Others didn't recur after 6 months. 1 case showed low-grade skin atrophy at the local injection part. No other side-effects showed. In 4 binaural cases, 2 cases in effect and the others had no effect, and the former recurred after 1-2 months. In control group, 1 week after the end of therapy, 3 cases (3 ears) recovered, 1 case (1 ear) recovered 2 weeks later after the end of therapy, and the 4 cases didn't recur after 2 months. The other 14 cases were ineffective.
CONCLUSIONSCompound betamethasone injection postaural treated intractable LFSNHL effectively, but no obvious efficiency to cases with the binaural LFSNHL. May be these cases have some relationship with autoimmune inner ear disease (AIED).
