The purification system described in this paper includes two steps. The first step may be called "rough purification" by using potassium thiocyanate (KCNS) -alcohol fractionation precipitation method. The second step is "fine purification" by using Blue Dextran-sepharose 4B (BDS) column affinity chromatography methodThe experimental results showed that the optimum condition for precipitating the interferon (IFN) from the crude IFN solution could be made by adding 0.5M KCNS, and then adjusting pH to 4.0. The optimum pH values in separating out the IFN from acid alcohol-interferon solution were 5.5 to 7.2. The results between the salting out once and twice by KCNS were not significantly different. Centrifugation with centrifuge maintaining lower temperature with cold alcohol could be used instead of refrigerated centrifuge during purification. The IFN can be purified to about 106 international units per mg of protein with about 70% recovery on the first step of purification. In the IFN yielded on the second step of purification, the maximum specific activity of IFN in the collecting fractions was increased up to about 107 international units per mg of protein with a recovery rate of over 40%.The present experiments may offer the possibility in purifying the IFN for clinical use. The Suggested purification method will also render some valuable reference to purify other types of IFN.

As antigen-presenting cells, DCs are the most potent and unique,they can stimulate the primitive T cells. They play a major role in initiating the immune response. Tumor infiltrating dendritic cells (TIDCs) can reflect the antitumor immune capability of the host. The density of TIDC perhaps is associated with the prognosis in some cancers. The disablement of TIDCS is partly due to the phenotype they have. Perhaps it is the immunosuppressive factors secreted by tumor cells that have changed their phenotype.The studies about TIDCs provide the basis for DC-mediated antitumor immune therapy,and suggest the use of DC to treat tumors through different approaches.

Episodic tension-type headache is the most common headache in the general population and is usually self managed.Chronic tension-type headache may be highly disabling and often prompts medical consultation.Diagnosis is clinical,based on widely accepted and validated criteria and algorithm.Peripheral factors are implicated in episodic tension-type headache,whereas central factors probably underlie chronic tension-type headache.Simple analgesics,such as aspirin,are used for acute treatment.Amitriptyline and biofeedback assisted relaxation training have the best evidence of effectiveness for headache prevention.

Objective:To study the prevention methods of radiation caries for the patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma receiving radiotherapy. Methods:Seventy-five patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma received dental check and treatment before radiotherapy. They also received the instructions on preventive oral hygiene. After radiotherapy, the patients were followed up.Results:Fifty patients were followed up for 1-3 years. Radiation caries was observed in 4 cases with poor oral hygiene habit. Conclusion:A comprehensive regime of dental care can prevent radiation caries effectively.

Objective: To investigate the mechanism of the effect of Linweidihuang Pills on diabetic neuropathy in rat. Methods: The diabetic rats were induced by alloxan. Serum glucose was tested by glucose oxidase and sciatic nerve sorbitol was determined by GC. Results: After Liuweidihuang Pills,0.5～2g/kg taken orally for 3 months, the level of sciatic nervous sorbitol and serum glucose in rat decreased significantly and the results showed certain dose effect relationship.Conclusion: Liuweidihuang Pills can controll diabetic neuropathy by inhibiting sorbitol biosynthesis.

Objective To study the clinical significance of the serum level of soluble E-selectin (sE-selectin) in diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. Methods The serum level of sE-selectin was measured by ELISA in 84 patients with colorectal cancer and 30 normal individuals as control. The changes in serum sE-selectin level of 54 patients with colorectal cancer were analyzed preoperatively and postoperatively, and the positive ratio of sE-selectin was compared with that of CEA, CA199 and CA242 in patients with colorectal cancer. Objective To analyze the influence of clinical status, electroencephalography (EEG) and antiepileptic drugs on prognosis of partial seizure in children. Methods A total of 233 pediatric patients with partial seizures were included. Their data including EEG records, responses of medication were reviewed. The patients were classified into three groups: seizure free, improved control and poor control groups. The significance of therapeutic efficacy in initial presentation in different age were assessed with t test. Chi-square test was used to analyze the significance of clinical data,laboratory findings and result of treatment. Logistic regression was used to investigate independent effect of each risk factor. Results Complete seizure control was achieved in 167 patients, improved seizure control in 31 patients and poor seizure control in 35 patients. Patients with poor seizure control were in much younger age group (3 times/month ) was also a predictive factor of poor outcome (?~2=8.976 P=0). The results of treatment were significantly different among the patients with simple partial seizure(SPS), complex partial seizure, and partial seizure with secondary generalized seizure. There were no significant differences in drug responsiveness among the patients treated by phenobarbital, carbamazepine, or valproate (?~2=0.107 P=0.948). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that outcome of treatment was correlated with age of onset, seizure frequency, and type of the seizure (P=0.053,0.007,0.054). Conclusions Poor seizure control is closely associated with a younger onset age, frequent seizures. The treatment responsiveness is the worst in patients of partial seizure with secondary generalized seizures. The best outcome is in patients with SPS. Phenobarbital, carbamazepine, and valproate are equally effective for treating childhood partial seizure.

Keratoconus is a progressive, non - inflammatory corneal thinning disorder that produces a unique spectrum of change in the surface curvature of the cornea. The suspected factors associated with the cause of keratoconus include genetic mechanisms, familial associations, allergy, atopy and so on, but environmental factors, such as abnormal rubbing, contact lens wearing and ultraviolet radiation may be easily ignored. Although it is commonly thought that keratoconus is a result of various pathological progress mediated by multiple factors, those chronic trauma could play important roles in the pathological progress. The classic definition of keratoconus is still referred as a non - inflammation disorder with malnutrition of keratectasia, more and more clinical evidences and experimental results that may refute this concept. It may be due to the long-term persistent chronic trauma resulted from eye rubbing, contact lens or ultraviolet radiation. Under this conditions, the increased release of inflammatory mediators and matrix metalloproteinases may accelerate keratocyte apoposis and enzyme metabolism disorders, with the result of matrix cell lost, tensile strength decreased and keratectasia. Here, for some papers known about the relationship between chronic cornea trauma and keratoconus were reviewed and discussed its possible causal relationship.

The concentration of airborne microbes in summer tourism season in Huangshan Scenic Spot was measured by fallen plate method at l4 collection sites. The study on the community structure and distribution characteristics of outdoor airborne microbes was carried out. The results showed that the average concentra- tion of the bacteria, fungi and total microbes in the outdoor environment were 0.41?104 CFU/m3, 0.34? 104 CFU/m3 and 0.75?104 CFU/m3 respectively, and the average percentage of fungi of the total was 45.9%. These indicated that the outdoor air had been polluted by airborne microbes. The preliminary identification was made on the bacteria and fungi at different sampling sites and the results showed that the dominant bac- teria mainly belonged to Bacillus, Staphylococcus, Micrococcus and Pseudomonas, and the average per- centage of the total amount of the bacteria was 37.7%, 17.2%, 10.1% and 9.8% respectively; the dominant fungi belonged to Cladosporium, Mycelia sterilia, Penicillium and Alternaria, and the average percentage of the total amount of the fungi were 40.4%, 35.0%, 5.6% and 4.3% respectively. The results indicated that thedistribution characteristics of air microbes are affected not only by topographical and climatic characteristics, but also by factors such as tourist activities, animals and plants.
