Rapid on site evaluation (ROSE) technology of interventional pulmonology includes“cytological ROSE”(C-ROSE) and“microbiological ROSE”(M-ROSE). Recently, this“ROSE”has gradually become one of core technologies in modern interventional pulmonology. In this commentary, perspectives on origin and development, classification and clini-cal value, operational approach, clinical application, and how to carry out effective work related to ROSE were summarized and remarked.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of 3-n-butylphthalide pretreatment on the delayed neuronal death(DND) and the expreesion of heat shock protein70 (HSP70) in rat hippocampus after ischemia/ reperfusion.

METHODSAll rats were randomly divided into sham group (n = 36), total cerebral ischemia (TCI) group (n = 36), butylphthalide (NBP) group (n = 6), NBP + TCI group( n = 36), quercetin + NBP + TCI group (n = 6), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) + NBP + TCI group (n = 6). The model of total cerebral ischemia/reperfusion was established by blocking vertebral arteries and carotid arteries. In sham group, TCI group and NBP group, the animals were further divided into instantly, 6 h, 12 h, 1 d, 3 d, 5 d groups according to the time interval after sham operation or TCI. Histological changes of the hippocampus were evaluated using thionin staining under light microscope by determining the delayed neuronal death (DND) and the expression of HSP70 was assayed using immunohistochemistry.

RESULTSNBP pretreatment could reduce delayed neuronal death in CA1 of hippocampus induced by TCI-reperfusion injury in rats, and up-regulated the expression of HSP70 in CA1 hippocampus of brain ischemic/reperfusion for 5 days. Quercetin blocked the acquirement of the brain ischemic tolerance induced by NBP preconditioning.

CONCLUSION3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) prevents the neurons from ischemia/reperfusion injury through upregulating the expression of HSP70.

Objective To analyze the articles and authors published in Journal of Chinese Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science(JCBMBS) in 2012.Methods By using the bibliometric statistical methods,all papers published in JCBMBS in the whole year of 2012 were analyzed,including the paper amount,the paper column,the published style of papers,the institute distributions and the area distributions of the first authors,the foundation supported papers amount,the author amount,the citation amount and the published delay.Results 375 papers were published in JCBMBS in 2012,31.25 papers were published in an average issue,and one article included 3.06 pages averagely.The paper density was 0.327 and the information density was 5.21.The main style of published papers was original article,which accounted for 79.7％,and the least style was experts forum articles,which accounted for 2.4％.The amount of clinical research articles were 129,the hygienic articles were 89 and the basic research articles were 80.The area distributions of the first author were wide and imbalance.The top 6 provinces of the most published paper amounts in 2012 were Shandong,Jiangsu,Guangdong,Beijing,Anhui and Henan,where published paper amounts in total were 207 papers,and accounted for 55.2％ of the total papers of the whole year.There were 244 articles supported by various foundations and accounted for 65.06％ of the total papers of the whole year,in which 30.93％ was supported by the national foundations.The average author amount of the published papers,the average citation amount and the average published delay were 4.71 authors,15.58 indexes and 161.5 days respectively.12 corresponding authors had published 3 or more than 3 articles,and 37 corresponding authors had published 2 articles in the year.The top fifteen institutes of the most paper amounts in the periodical had published 145 articles,accounting for 38.7％ of the total amount of the papers.Conclusion The JCBMBS have an aboundant information resource;the main style of the published papers is original article;the clinical researches are the most in all columns.There are higher foundation supported papers and steady authors of this periodical.

A total of 120 medical students were surveyed to investigate the current status of communication between medical students and old patients and the awareness of medical laws. The questionnaire shows many students don't have enough knowledge of communication skills and medical laws. Furthermore, the most important reason of the medical disputes is the lack of communication between doctors and patients so the cultivation of communication skills and legal knowledge should be strengthened.

Objective To investigate the effects of levocarnitine on pregnancy outcome of the patients with obstructive azoospermia treated with intracytoplasmic sperm injection ( ICSI ) . Methods A total of 74 patients with obstructive azoospermatism treated with ICSI randomly divided into 2 groups:treatment group( n=38) , taking levocarnitine before treatment with ICSI 1 g twice a day for three months;control group( n=36) , taking vitamine E before treatment with ICSI 0.1 g twice a day time for three months.tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), reactive oxygen species(ROS) level, epididymal sperm motility and morphology in epididymal fluid of the two groups were determined before and after treatments. The number of matured oocytes, fertilization, and embryos of adequate quality, the rate of fertilization and embryo of adequate quality, and pregnancy rates after PESA-ICSI were compared between the two groups. Results TNF-α in epididymal fluid before and after the treatment was (5.39±2.28)and(4.05±2.14)ng.mL-1 in the treatment group(P<0.05), and(4.97±2.13)and(4.83±2.35)ng.mL-1 in the control group.ROS in epididymal fluid before and after the treatment was(62.72±8.51),(56.28±8.70)RLU.s-1(P<0.05)in the treatment group( P<0. 05 ) , and ( 62. 61 ± 7. 55 ) and ( 61. 05 ± 6. 77 ) RLU . s-1 in the control group. After treatment with levocarnitine, epididymal sperm motility was significantly increased(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in all the indexes in the control group before and after the treatment(P>0.05).After PESA-ICSI, the number and percentage of high quality embryo in the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Levocarnitine can down-regulate epididymal TNF-α and ROS in patients with obstructive azoospermatism, thereby improve the environment of the epididymis and elevate the quality of sperm and ICSI pregnancy outcome.

The excipient processing is an essential part of traditional Chinese medicine processing, and understanding its scientific connotations is a critical scientific issue that urgently needs resolution. Building upon a foundation where the composition of traditional Chinese medicine substances is fundamentally clear, this paper applies the techniques and methods of chemoinformatics to the study of the excipient processing mechanism. Relevant information on traditional Chinese medicines processed with four kinds of excipients (wine, vinegar, salt and honey) was collected, including properties, taste, meridian tropism, chemical components, etc. Molecular descritors and skeletons corresponding to each chemical component were calculated using chemoinformatics to characterize the properties and structural features of the components. Characteristic components associated with the four excipients (wine, vinegar, salt and honey) were explored through multivariate statistical analysis and Murcko skeleton analysis. Further analysis, taking honey-processed Astragali Radix as an example, the focus was on the impact of the processing excipient honey on the solubility and permeability of its characteristic pharmacologically active components (isoflavones). It was discovered that the excipient honey can increase their solubility and permeability, emphasizing that the impact of processing excipients on the pharmacological classification properties is a key breakthrough in elucidating the mechanism of excipient processing. In summary, this study analyzed the characteristic components associated with the processing excipients "wine, vinegar, salt and honey" based on their composition characteristics, providing data support for the research on the mechanism of excipient processing from a biopharmaceutical perspective.

The aim of this study is to evaluate anti-tumor activities and mechanism of a novel kinase inhibitor ZLJ213 which targeted Aurora A and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) in vitro and in vivo against human colon cancer. Results showed that ZLJ213 inhibited cell proliferation and induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of HCT1 16 and SW48 cell lines. In HCT116-derived xenograft, ZLJ213 dosed at 100 mg · kg(-1) inhibited tumor growth by 73.24%. The IC50 of ZLJ213 on the expression of p-Aurora A was 0.258 µmol · L(-1) analyzed by ELISA. Under the concentration of 0.08 µmol · L(-1), ZLJ213 could inhibit the activities of Aurora A, Histone H3 and VEGFR of HCT116 and SW48 cell lines. Simultaneously, ZLJ213 induced activation of Caspase 3 and PARP cleavage. Above data suggested that ZLJ213 had the ability to inhibit cell proliferation and induce cell apoptosis both in vitro and in vivo in colon cancer, and down-regulate the expression of p-Aurora A and p-VEGFR. ZLJ213 might be a potential therapeutic agent against colon cancer.

During fermentation, it is often difficult to detect the abnormalities, for example, caused by contamination on-line. Instead, the faults were detected usually by off-line laboratory analysis or other ways, which in most cases, is too late to remedy the situation. In this paper, a simple three-layers BP network was used for the early prediction of the amount of product, based on the difference in prediction errors between normal and abnormal charges and other accessorial information, such as profit function and pH value. In addition, three indications characteristic to abnormal charge are incorporated in practical operation. The prediction for Cephalosporin C Fed-batch Fermentation in a Chinese pharmaceutical factory was studied in details as an example and the result shows the abnormal charge can be discovered early successfully using the method.

Objective To observe the effect of exposure of emphysema with intermittent hypoxia on oxidative stress injury of myocardial cells in rats. Methods Sixty male Wistar rats were divided randomly into four experimental groups(each n=15). The normal control group was bred normally. The emphysema group was exposed to cigarette smoke twice a day(once 30 minutes). The intermittent hypoxia(IH)group was exposed to intermittent hypoxia circumstance 8 hours/day,and the emphysema with IH group was exposed to cigarette smoke twice a day (once 30 minutes)and intermittent hypoxia circumstance 8 hours/day. Each group was exposed for 8 weeks. At the beginning of 9 weeks,the blood gas analysis was performed in 5 rats selected randomly from each group,and the rest rats were sacrificed and their hearts and lungs were taken. Under light microscope,the lung tissues stained with hematoxylin-eosin(HE)were examined. The lung pathology and the results of blood gas analysis showed that the emphysema with IH rat model was established successfully. The levels of malonaldehyde(MDA)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)in rat myocardium were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and the subunit p22phox mRNA expressions of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH)-oxidase were detected by real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). Results Compared with the normal group, the MDA levels and p22phox mRNA expressions were increased obviously in emphysema group, IH group and emphysema with IH group〔MDA(μmol/g):2.93±0.54, 3.58±0.63, 4.51±0.72 vs. 1.75±0.56, p22phox mRNA:0.043±0.004,0.067±0.015,0.123±0.016 vs. 0.018±0.002,all P<0.05〕,but the activities of SOD were decreased significantly(U/mg:36.07±4.79,33.51±7.12,24.29±5.36 vs. 46.08±5.12,all P<0.05). In emphysema with IH group,the increase of MDA levels and p22phox mRNA expressions and decrease of SOD levels were more remarkable compared with those in emphysema group and IH group(all P<0.05). The expression of p22phox mRNA was positively correlated with MDA level(r=0.734,P<0.001). Conclusion The myocardial tissue oxidative stress injury in rats induced by emphysema with intermittent hypoxia exposure is more serious than that induced by exposure of either emphysema or intermittent hypoxia alone,NADPH oxidase possibly being the important medium of myocardial cell response to oxidative stress.

BACKGROUND: Peri-intraventricular hemorrhage (PIVH) in preterm infants is one of the most important reasons for mortality and disability. Moreover, investigative exponents may bring supported data for incidence rate of PIVH and high-risk factors of preterm infants with PIVH.OBJECTIVE: To explore the incidence rate and analyze the high-risk factors of PIVH in preterm infants.DESIGN: Survey and analysis.SETTING: Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; Beijing Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital, Capital Medical Universit; Qinhuangdao Maternity and Infants' Hospital of Hebei Province.PARTICIPANTS: A total of 1 122 preterm infants of 26.3-36.8 gestational age were selected from Beijing Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital, Qinhuangdao Maternity and Infants' Hospital from January 2002 to August 2005. All infants received ultrasonic examination on skull within 1 week. There were 594 boys and 528 girls, and the birth weight was 850-4 500 g.METHODS: All infants received ultrasonic examination on skull within 1 week. New Philips 5500 and GE Healthcare Logiq 400 ultrasonic diagnosis devices were provided by Philip Company, Dutch and GE Company, respectively.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The incidence rate and related high-risk factors of PIVH.RESULTS: All 1 122 preterm infants were involved in the final analysis. Among 1 122 preterm infants, 619 cases (55.2%) had PIVH; especially, 110 had severe PIVH with the degree more than Ⅲ, which was accounted for 17.8%.High-risk factors were mainly low gestational age, low birth weight, mechanical ventilation, hypoglycemia, hypercapnia,hyperlactic acidemia, acidosis, hypoxia, abnormal blood coagulation, and so on. Antenatal corticosteroid could reduce the incidence rate of PIVH. However, there was no obvious effect on preterm infants of old gestational age.CONCLUSION: Routine intracranial ultrasonic examination is useful for the diagnosis of PIVH in preterm infants.
