OBJECTIVE To investigate the pharyngeal opportunistic pathogens and their drug resistance related to different duty of the hospital staff,in order to improve the control and prevention of hospital infection.METHODS Totally 302 pharyngeal samples were cultured and isolated,and the tests of antibiotic susceptibility were(performed) for isolated strains to 15 kinds of antibiotics by using of the paper diffusion method.RESULTS The(isolated) rate of the opportunistic pathogens among hospital staff was 30.13%,higher in nurses(41.32%) than in technicians(20%,P

3.Phenolic constituents from Lysimachia patungensis.

To study the chemical constituents of Lysimachia patungensis Hand.-Mazz., silica gel column chromatography, reverse phase ODS column chromatography, MCI and Sephadex LH-20, were used to separate the 95% EtOH extract of the whole plant of Lysimachia patungensis Hand.-Mazz.. The structures of the isolated compounds have been established on the basis of chemical and NMR spectroscopic evidence as well as ESI-MS in some cases. Twelve phenolic compounds were obtained and identified as quercetin-3, 3'-di- O-alpha-L-rhamnoside (1), myricetrin (2), quercitrin (3), rutin (4), 2-hydroxynaringenin-4'-O-glucopyranoside (5), naringenin 7-O-glucopyranoside (6), liquiritin apioside (7), licochalcone B (8), tetrahydroxymethoxy chalcone (9), methyl-p-coumarate (10), 2, 4, 6-trihydroxy acetophenone-2-O-glucopyranoside (11) and vaccihein A (12). Among them, compound 1 is a new compound, and compounds 5, 11 and 12 are isolated from the genus Lysimachia L. for the first time, and the others are isolated from the plant for the first time.

5.Experimental study on mechanism of vertebral osteophyte formation.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this experimental stud y was to explore the mechanism of the vertebral osteophyte formation. METHODS: An experimental model of cervical spondylosis in rabbits was established by resection of the cervical supraspinous and interspino us ligaments and detachment of the posterior paravertebral muscles from cerv ical vertebrae. Because of individual difference, the natural development proced ure of the vertebral osteophyte formation could be seen with a microscope by dyn amic observation. RESULTS: The cartilage end-plate was divided into a growth car tilage layer and an articular cartilage layer. Vertebrae and discs from the 3-m onth control group rabbits showed normal structure. The changes of cartilage pla tes from the 3-month experimental group and the 8-month control group animals showed proliferation in peripheral articular cartilage. The osteophytes from the 8-month experimental group animals could be seen. The osteophyte obviously ari sed from proliferation, calcification and ossification of the peripheral articul ar cartilage. CONCLUSIONS: The vertebral osteophyte arises from proliferation of peripheral articular cartilage which undergoes cartilaginous osteophyte, and then changes into bony osteophyte through an endochondral calcification and ossification.
6.Clinical study of docetaxel plus nedaplatin combined with concurrent intensity-modulated radiotherapy for locally-advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Objective:To investigate the differences in efficacy, survival outcomes, and acute and late toxicities for patients with local/regional advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) treated by intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in combination with che-motherapy (CT) and by IMRT alone. Methods:A total of 72 newly diagnosed local/regional advanced NPC patients were randomly subjected to IMRT/RT+adjuvant CT (after radiotherapy, RT) (n=42) or IMRT+adjuvant CT (after RT) (n=30). The Kaplan-Meier meth-od was used to analyze the two-year local/regional control rates, distant metastasis-free survivals, and overall survivals. The acute and late radiation toxicities were evaluated based on the toxicity criteria of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group and European Organiza-tion for Research and Treatment of Cancer. Results:A median follow up period of 13.5 months was included in the study. The one-year and two-year local/regional control rates, distant metastasis-free survivals, and overall survival in the IMRT group were 95.0%, 80.0%, and 95.0%, and 80%, 60.0%, and 75.0%, respectively. For the IMRT+CT group, such rates were 100%, 96.4%, and 96.4%, and 100%, 92.9%, and 92.9%, respectively. The two-year local/regional control rate and distant metastasis-free survivals in the IMRT+CT group were higher than those in the IMRT group (P<0.05). Most patients had grade 1 to grade 2 acute radiation toxicities and grade 0 to grade 1 late radiation toxicities (P>0.05). No patient showed a grade 4 acute or late toxicity. The blood and gastrointestinal toxicity rates were high in the IMRT+CT group (P<0.05). Conclusion:The IMRT+CT treatment has potential advantages over the IMRT in the treatment of local/regional advanced NPC patients in terms of local/regional control and overall survival. The blood and gastrointestinal toxicity rates in the IMRT+CT group were higher than in the IMRT group but still within a tolerable range.
7.Cutaneous branches of second and third dorsal metacarpal artery fasciocutaneous flaps for repair of distal- and middle-segment finger soft tissue defects

ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical efficacy of cutaneous branches of reverse second and third dorsal metacarpal artery fasciocutaneous flaps for repair of distal- and middle-segment finger soft tissue defects. MethodsA total of 14 patients with distal- and middle-segment finger soft tissue defects complicated by exposure of the phalanx or tendon were repaired by using cutaneous branches of second and third dorsal metacarpal artery fasciocutaneous flaps ranging between 2.0 cm × 4.5 cm and 3.0 cm × 7.0 cm.ResuitsAll of the skin flaps survived after surgery.Follow-up data during a 6-40 month period showed that the flaps exhibited a satisfactory appearance.They were not fat or clumsy,with a 2-point discrimination of 59 mm,and there was good recovery of finger function.The donor site was able to be directly sutured without dermoplasty.Pigmented linear surgical streaks appeared in the donor site.Conclusion The cutaneous branches of Second and third dorsal metacarpal artery fasciocutaneous flaps provide a good approach for the repair of distal- and middle-segment finger soft tissue defects and functional reconstruction because of convenient dissection,little trauma,sufficient use of the dorsal metacarpal artery.
8.Nucleic acid sequence homologous analysis of the 6 kb plasmid of Yersinia pestis

Objective To analyze nucleic acid sequence homology of the 6 kb(pYC) plasmid of Yersina. pestis (Y. pestis) isolated from Yurman by searching GenBank. Method The search of sequence similarity was accomplished with BLAST. Results The pYC plasmid sequence had high homology with some genes in nueleotide sequence, such as: 97.1% homology with Shigella sonnei pKYM, 92.1% homology with Haemophilus influenzae(H. influenzae) gene, Salmonella typhi (S. typhi) gene LT2 and plMVSI with 88.2% and 87.2% of homology respectively, Escherichia coli(E, coli) O157:H7 and K-12, ECOR31 with 81.4%, 81.4% and 84.7% of homology respectively. This plasmid ORFs could code for some proteins which were similar with others in GenBank, such as: ORFi and H. paragallinarum replication protein B(47.2%), ORF4 and E. coli hypothetical protein(52.7%), ORF5 and Y. pseudotuberculosis Tile (48.3%), ORF6 and E. coil Pilx5/VirB5-1ike protein (42.3%), Y. enterocolitica TriD protein(38.5%), ORFIO and S. typhimurium LT2, E. coli O157:H7 hypothetical protein(83.1% and 81.9%, respectively), ORF11 and E. coli, damage-inducible protein J(81.4%). Conclusions The pYC plasmid sequence has high homology with a few bacterial genes of Enterobacteriaceac. This plasmid may code for some proteins that are similar with hypothetical protein, damnge-indncible protein, TriD and TilE protein, Pilx5/VirB5-hke protein of Escherichia or Yersinia.
9.Nasopharyngeal Carriage Status of Opportunistic Pathogens in Old People and Its Significance

OBJECTIVE To investigate the nasopharynx carriage status of opportunistic pathogens in non-infectious old people.METHODS The totally of 592 pharyngeal samples from old persons were collected.RESULTS The isolated rates of main opportunistic pathogens were Haemophilus parainfluenzae,Stomatococcus mucilaginosus,Streptococcus pneumoniae and Klebsiella pneumoniaa.The isolated rate of single opportunistic pathogen was 45.8% and that of multiple opportunistic pathogens was 3.9%.The total carriage rate of opportunistic pathogen was 49.7%.The carriage rate of G+ or G-bacteria was 13.2% or 86.8%,respectively.The isolated rates of 2 multiple pathogens,S.pneumoniae and K.pneumoniae were increased with aging.The isolated rate of K.pneumoniae was higher in persons with more than 3 kinds of underlying diseases.CONCLUSIONS Aging,pharyngeal carriaging of S.pneumoniae,H.parainfluenzae,K.pneumoniae,et al and with multiple underlying diseases might be the risk factors for elder people to suffer from infectious respiratory disease.Isolating pharyngeal opportunistic pathogen among non-infection people is necessary and significant for prevention and treatment of infectious respiratory disease.
10.Metabonomics analysis of effects induced by PCBs and high fat diet combined expo-sure in SD rats

Objective To explore the effect on metabolism of glucose and lipids, potential toxicity mechanism and possible biomarker candidates by analyzing urine metabonome changes of rats after oral administration of polychlorinated biphenyl congeners( PCBs) and high fat diet alone or in combination.Methods Male SD rats were divided randomly into control group,high fat diet group, PCBs group and combination group of PCBs and high fat diet.Urine samples were collected after 6-week treatment, 1 H NMR spectra were performed and analyzed by principal component analysis ( PCA) . Results The PCA scores plot of urine 1 H NMR data showed that the combined group could be easily distinguished from the other three groups, suggesting great difference in metabolism.The loading plot of the PCA revealed significant increase in the levels of lactate, glucose, creatine, 2-hydroxy-isovaleric acid and reduction in the levels of citrate, succinate, taurine, hippurate and trimethylamine oxide ( TMAO) in the combined exposure group after six-week exposure.Conclusion The altered levels of metabolites induced by combined exposure of PCBs and high fat diet may be related to the injury to mitochondrial function, reduction of energy metabolism in tricarboxylic acid cycle (TAC).These effects possibly lead to perturbations in the metabolism of glucose, lipid and amino acids.The altered metabolites may be considered biomarker candidates of toxicity induced by exposure to PCBs and high fat diet.
