International Journal of Surgery 2009;36(5):338-341
With the development of screening and early diagnosis for breast cancer, the detected rote of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) has increase markedly in recent decades. However, we know little about the biological potential of DCIS and its natural history. Controversy also exists with regard to the optimal management of DCIS.

6.Development of a software for 3D virtual phantom design.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;31(1):76-80
In this paper, we present a 3D virtual phantom design software, which was developed based on object-oriented programming methodology and dedicated to medical physics research. This software was named Magical Phan tom (MPhantom), which is composed of 3D visual builder module and virtual CT scanner. The users can conveniently construct any complex 3D phantom, and then export the phantom as DICOM 3.0 CT images. MPhantom is a user-friendly and powerful software for 3D phantom configuration, and has passed the real scene's application test. MPhantom will accelerate the Monte Carlo simulation for dose calculation in radiation therapy and X ray imaging reconstruction algorithm research.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2013;(51):8849-8855
BACKGROUND:After peripheral nerve injury, to inhibit scar formation by drugs is the key to functional recovery. To reduce the amount of scar formation we designed a prednisolone-loaded film which can sustain drug release and good achievement in in vitro drug release test.
OBJECTIVE:To prepare the prednisolone implantable film and investigate its in vivo biocompatibility and safety.
METHODS:Prednisolone-loaded nanoparticles were first prepared with reverse micellar emulsion-solvent evaporation method, and the composite film and drug-loaded film were further prepared. Then, we investigated the in vivo biocompatibility of drug-loaded film through celltoxicity test, hemolysis test, acute systemic toxicity test, chronic systemic toxicity test.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After cultured for 7 days, the relative growth rate of L929 mouse fibroblasts was 92.6%, showing no cytotoxicity. The hemolysis rate of the film was 0.59%, indicating that the material had no hemolysis action. No abnormal biological behaviors were seen in mice after intraperitoneal injection of film extracts, and there were no changes in liver and renal functions in rats. As il ustrated above, we can safely come to a conclusion that prednisolone-loaded film possesses good biocompatibility and can be safely used in the experiment of reducing the scar at sites of peripheral nerve repair.

Objective: To establish the methods for extraction and isolation of punicalagin from pomegranate peel, and further study the purification and quantification of punicalagin. Methods: Using an ultrasonic-assisted extraction method, punicalagin in pomegranate peel was extracted at room temperature by 50% ethanol with 20-fold volume of raw material. The content of punicalagin in the crude extract was determined by HPLC. To optimize the purification process of punicalagin, static adsorption and desorption experi-ments were employed to study five kinds of macroporous adsorbent resins (D101, A8-8, NKA-9, HPD-100 and HPD-500) for the one with the highest purification efficacy of punicalagin. In addition, the technical parameters of the macroporous adsorbent resin were opti-mized to obtain punicalagin with higher purity. Punicalagin was further separated and purified by using a reverse phase MCI GEL CHP20P column. Results:HPD500 resin showed the best ability to absorb and separate punicalagin in among five kinds of macro-porous adsorbent resins. The best technical parameters were as follows:the mass concentration of sample solution was 15 mg·ml-1 , the loading amount was 2BV, the pH was 2 and the eluting solvent was 8BV of 30% ethanol. With the best process as described a-bove, the content of punicalagin extracted from pomegranate peel increased from 10. 3% to 30. 7%. The obtained punicalagin could be further purified to 61. 3% from 30% in ethanol eluate by the reverse phase MCI GEL CHP20P column. Conclusion:HPD500 resin is the most effective in the purification of punicalagin from pomegranate peel, and the content of punicalagin can be dramatically increased after the purification by a reverse phase MCI GEL CHP20P column. The optimized process shows good reproducibility and stability.

Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2016;15(10):779-781
Serum triglyceride ( TG ) , total cholesterol ( TC ) , low density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL-C) , high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL-C) , uric acid ( UA) levels and fasting blood glucose ( FBG) were measured in 67 patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria ( CSU ) and 66 healthy subjects ( controls). Results showed that the rates of increased serum TG and FBG levels in CSU patients were higher than those in controls ( 19% vs.6%,χ2 =5.309, P <0.05; 12% vs.1%,χ2 =4.194, P <0.05, respectively);however, there were no significant differences in abnormal rate of TC(7%vs.3%) , LDL-C (4%vs.1%), HDL-C(6%vs.3%)and UA(6%vs.1%) between CSU patients and healthy controls(all P>0.05).The rate of rising FBG in CSU patients accompanied by angioedema(4/9)was higher than that in CSU patients without angioedema(7%,χ2 =7.181,P<0.05).

Objective To investigate the effects of a miRNA family member, let-7e, and a combi-nation of miR-106b and miR-20a on the expression of cytokines by THP-1 cells with Luminex xMAP technol-ogy.Methods The efficiency of transfection was evaluated by immunofluorescence assay after transfecting THP-1 cells with micrONTM mimic negative control (Cy3) for 24 h, 36 h and 48 h.The three miRNA mim-ics (let-7e, miR-106b and miR-20a) were respectively used to transfect the THP-1 cells for 24 h, 36 h and 48 h and the expression of each miRNA was analyzed by qRT-PCR analysis for screening out the optimal transfection time. The transfected THP-1 cells were stimulated with1 mg/L of LPS for 1 h.The Luminex xMAP technology was used to detect the expression of IL-8, interferon-inducible protein-10 (IP-10), mono-cyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1), IL-1α, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α, IFN-αand IFN-βin the supernatants of cell culture.A statistical analysis was performed to analyze the data obtained by using SPSS16.0 software. Results More than 90% of the transfected THP-1 cells were labeled with red fluorescence. The optimal transfection times for let-7e mimic and miR-106b/miR-20a mimics were 48 h and 24 h, respectively.Com-pared with the corresponding negative control (NC), the expression of IL-8, IP-10 and MCP-1 by THP-1 cells were enhanced after the transfection with let-7e mimic, but were inhibited after the co-transfection with miR-106b and miR-20a mimics. Conclusion The expression of IL-8, IP-10 and MCP-1 were enhanced in let-7e transfected THP-1 cells, but were inhibited in miR-106b and miR-20a co-transfected THP-1 cells.
