Chinese Journal of Ultrasonography 2009;18(6):476-478
Objective To evaluate the value of echocardiography in patients with isolated anomalous origin of right pulmonary artery from ascending aorta. Methods The eehoeardiographie results of five patients with isolated anomalous origin of right pulmonary artery from ascending aorta were reviewed retrospectively. Results Severe pulmonary hypertension occurred in all the patients, besides accompanied with patent duetus arterious, no other congenital malformations combined. Three patients underwent operation. Patent ductus arterious was missed in one patient's diagnosis. Another patient was missed isolated anomalous origin of right pulmonary artery from ascending aorta in several echoeardiographic examinations, once misdiagnosed as complete transposition of the great arteries. Conclusions There are many anatomic and hemodynamic similarities in patients with isolated anomalous origin of right pulmonary artery from ascending aorta. Grasping their common charaeters and exploring multi-position and multi-section are helpful to make correct diagnosis.

Objective To study the effects of gantry rotation time on image quality in 64-slice spiral CT. Methods Using the same CT technique and body mode as those used for 64-slice spiral CT, delta phantom was firstly layed on the isocenter, then scanned and reconstructed with SOMATOM Sensation 64-slice spiral CT. Slice sensitivity profile(SSP) was measured from which modulation transfer function (MTF) were got by Fourier transfer. The Catphan500 phantom was layed on the table, then scanned and reconstructed with SOMATOM Sensation 64-slice spiral CT. The maximum linepair and minimum size of the targets visualized. Results The MTF curve was nearly overlapped on 0.5 s and 1.0 s gantry rotation time, the values of 5% MTF were 11.3 LP/cm and 11.9 LP/cm. Their spatial resolution and low contrast resolution were completely identical. Conclusion The image quality is no distinction on 0.5 s group and 1.0 s group of gantry rotation time. In order to shorten the scan time and eliminate the breath defect, we suggest that the 0.5 s gantry rotation time be used routinely at body spiral scan mode.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of combination therapy with finasteride and doxazosin in benign prostatic hyperplasia/ lower urinary tract symptoms (BPH/LUTS) patients with intravesical prostatic profusion (IPP).Methods A total of 322 BPH/LUTS patients who accepted combination therapy with finasteride and doxazosin were enrolled in this study.Patients were divided into 4 groups according to the degree of IPP:group Ⅰ(IPP>10 mm),group 2 (IPP between 5 mm and 10 mm),group 3 (IPP<5 mm),control group (without IPP).All patients were received inasteride 5 mg once per day and doxazosin 4 mg once per day for 6 months.International prostate symptom score (IPSS),prostatic specific antigen(PSA),ultrasonographic and urcdynamic evaluation were compared before and after treatment. The correlations between the above factors and IPP were estimated by Logistic regression analysis. Results After 6 month of treament, the changes of IPP degree and the maximal urinary flow rate (Qmax) had no significant differences in group 1,group 2 and group 3 as compared with before treatment (all P>0.05).The IPSS in group 1 was not significantly different before and after treatment (P>0.05).There were significant differences in the PSA level,IPSS,total prostate volume (TPV),transition zone volume (TZV),residual urine volume (PVR) in the 4 groups before and after treatment (all P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that PVR and Qmax had positive and negative correlations with IPP (P<0.001 and P=0.024),respectively.Conclusions Combination therapy with finasteride and doxazosin can significantly improve the symptoms of LUST and reduce the total prostate volume in patients with BPH/LUTS,but for BPH patients with IPP,the combination therapy can not effectively alleviate the degree of IPP.The increase of residual urine volume and decrease of Qmax may enhance the risk of bladder outlet obstruction in BPH patients with IPP.

Objective To study the effects of exercise on blood pressure (BP) and aorta gaseous molecules of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR),so as to explore the role of gaseous molecules in exercise-induced changes of hypertension. Methods Sixteen male SHR were randomly divided into the SHR control (SC) group and SHR training (ST) group.Eight healthy male Wistar rats were used as normal control (WC) group. All the rats were fed normal foodstuff. The ST group was subject to 90-minute moderate swimming exercise once daily,6 times a week, for a total of 8 weeks, while the SC and WC groups were give no special intervention. The blood pressure and the contents of aorta NO,CO and H2S were examined before and at the end of the 4th,5th and 8th weeks of the exercise. Results After 8-week,a within-group comparison showed that the systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) was significantly elevated in SC group as compared with the baseline BP[(198.07 ± 7.27) vs (159.91 ±6.48) mmHgin SBP,(132.75 ±11.93) vs (103.75 ±3.69) mmHg in BBP](P<0.05),while that the BP remained without significant changes in the ST group [(164.85 ± 3.73) mmHg for SBP and (103.20 ± 7.63)mmHg for DBP] after 8-week of exercise.A between-group comparison showed that BP values measured at the end of 4th,5th and 8th weeks post-exercise in the ST group were significantly lower than those in the SC group (P < 0.05).It was also shown that,at the end of 8th week post-intervention,the levels of aorta NOS,NO,HO,CO,CSE and H2 S of SC group was significantly lower than those of the WC group (P < 0.05),and the levels of NOS,HO,CSE in the ST group were significantly lower than those in the WC group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Moderate exercise can help relieve hypertension in SHR,and the gaseous molecules might synergistically mediate the effect of exercise in lowering the BP.
