Introduction: Nowadays, the pulmonary mycosis is becoming more and more frequent because of the increase in risk factors. Pulmonary aspergillus is not an uncommon disease, but it often comes together with other lung diseases so it is easily missed. Objectives: This study aims to 1. Determine the clinical and laboratory characteristics of pulmonary mycosis. 2. Comment on the results of the treatment. Material and method: 15 patients with symptoms and signs of pulmonary aspergillosis were included in a retrospective study. Patients were given blood tests, sputum cytology, flexible bronchoscopy, chest X-ray and Ct scanner, transbronchial biopsy and transthoracic biopsy. Findings from these studies showed Aspergillus pulmonary mycosis. The patients were treated in Respiratory Department of Bach Mai hospital in 2007. Results: Male: 7 cases, female: 8 cases. Hemoptysis: 9 cases (60%). 12 cases (80%) had definitive diagnosis, while 5 cases were confirmed diagnosis by transbronchial and/or transthoracic biopsy. 7 cases were treated by surgery. Conclusion: Pulmonary mycosis often occurs in patients with immunodeficiency or pulmonary cavities secondary to tuberculosis. The most common symptom of pulmonary mycosis is hemoptysis. Surgery is the most effective treatment for aspergilloma, as well as antifungal therapy for immunodeficiency patients.

Pulmonary aspergillosis may present with three different features, according to the immune status of the host. These forms are invasive aspergillosis, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) or aspergilloma. Bronchial involvement is an uncommon type of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. We encountered an unusual case of an endobronchial aspergillosis that completely obstructed the left upper lobe, which was initially thought to be lung cancer. We report this case along with a review of the relevant literature.

Aspegillosis is a fatal opportunistic disease using immunosupppresive drugs after liver transplantation. Mortality of aspergillosis after liver transplantation reaches 100% and survival rate pulmonary aspergillosis is less than 5% using medical treatment only and pneumonectomy and medical treatment revealed better results. We experienced the invasive pulmonary aspergillosis developed a patient who suffered from bacterial pneumonia and had long peroid of mechanical ventillation after liver transplantation. We performed pneumonectomy and antifungal medical treatment for about 50 days and he recovered from invasive aspergillosis.

Pulmonary aspergillosis is the most common disease of fungal infection and has lower infectivity. Pulmonary aspergillosis is classified by aspergilloma, bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, necrotic and invasive aspergillosis. Invasive aspergillosis is found in immune compromised host, immunosuppressive treatment after organ transplantation, anticancerous chemotherapy, blood abnormality, AIDS patients etc. We reported a case of invasive aspergillosis in an immunocompetent host, with review of literatures.

Aspergillosis comprises a spectrum of diseases caused by species of a ubiquitous saprophytic mold, Aspergillus, that usually lives on decaying vegetation. Aspergillus organisms rarely behave as pathogens in an immunocompetent host. But, in the presence of immunosuppression, Aspergillus may be invasive and take a fulminant course. Although extensive investigation has clarified multiple aspects of pulmonary aspergillosis, cutaneous aspergillosis occurs relatively less frequently and therefore remains poorly characterized. With this review, we have attempted to better define risk factors and common clinical presentations, as well as to formulate a reasonable approach to the diagnosis and management of cutaneous aspergillosis.
