Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2012;18(6):548-550
Objective To explore the alteration in ethology and change of muscle fibers of gastronomies of rats following spinal cord injury(SCI). Methods 108 Wistar rats were divided into sham operation group (n=38) and SCI group (n=38) and rehabilitation group (n=32).The ethology was evaluated by Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan Locomotor Rating Scale (BBB Scale), and the alteration of muscle tissue's reactivitywas observed by immunohistochemistry staining. Results The BBB scores of rehabilitation group were higher than SCI group 3weeks after injury, but all was lower than 10. The cross section areas of gastrocnemius in both groups were getting smaller, but the rehabilitationgroup was slighter. Conclusion Spontaneous recovery occurred in some degree for rats' hind limb after spinal cord injury. Rehabilitationtraining is beneficial for the recovery of rats' motor function, and alleviates the atrophy of hind limb after spinal cord injury.

A melanoma is a highly malignant tumor that originates from melanocytes in the skin, mucosa, or tunica pigmentosa. The incidence and mortality rate of cutaneous melanoma are increasing annually. However, the efficacy of traditional therapy is extremely limited because of its low sensitivity and high toxicity. The application of the anti-CTLA-4 antibody and the BRAF inhibitor dramatically improves the overall survival of patients with advanced melanoma. However, their limited benefit ratio and high drug resistance curtail the use of anti-CTLA-4. Since the US Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the anti-PD-1 and anti-PD-L1 antibodies for ad-vanced melanoma in 2014, a significant survival benefit has been observed in patients with advanced melanoma. This review aims to highlight the applications of the anti-PD-1 antibody (pembrolizumab, nivolumab, and pidilizumab) and the anti-PD-L1 antibody (MP-DL3280A, BMS-936559, and MEDI4736) in the clinical treatment of melanoma by succinctly summarizing the results of recent reports.

[Summary] Activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) is an alkaline leucine zipper transcriptional factor ,which is involved in many physiological metabolism processes such as stress response ,inflammation and tumor growth. Moreover ,recent studies have shown that ATF4 also plays a key role in regulating lipid and glucose metabolism ,insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity ,which may related to pathways such as endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS ) ,peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor gamma coactivator (PGC1α) and target of rapamycin (TOR). This article summarized the recent research progress of ATF4 in regulating glucose and lipid metabolism.

There are a wide variety of spiders on the earth and most them can secrete venom, which contains a variety of chemi-cal compositions that have multiple influences on organism be-sides toxic effects. The pharmacological efficiency includes cardi-ovascular and cerebrovascular activities, analgesic activities,an-tibacterial and anticancer activities etc.Ion channels are one of the important targets of spider toxins. They act on different ion channels, such as potassium channel, calcium channel and differ-ent subtypes of sodium channels. Therefore the spider toxins pres-ent different pharmacological activities and potential medicinal value. The venoms of spiders are less well studied than those from other venomous taxa such as conotoxin, scorpions and snakes etc. However,in recent years, spider toxins are turning to a new hot subject in related research areas. This review summarizes the lat-est progress in biological activities of spider toxins as well as its application in medical practice and development.

Objective To evaluate the surgical treatment for patients with malignant colorectal mesenchymoma, and to analyze the clinical data, pathological features and the common presenting symptoms and its immunohistochemical staining property. Methods The clinical data and the pathological findings, including immunohistochemical staining, of 17 patients with malignant colorectal mesenchymoma admitted from Jan 1990 to Mar 2005 were retrospectively analyeed. All the patients were followed up carefully. Results All the patients underwent operation, and all the tumors were proved malignant pathologically. In 6 cases left hemicolectomy was done, in 3 cases right hemicolectomy was done, in 2 cases the treatment was local resection from the rectum, and 6 patients received Mile's resection. The 1, 3 and 5-year overall survival rates for 17 patients with the total resection of tumor were 100%, 70.6% and 47.1%, respectively. The median survival time for 17 patients was 52 months. The final diagnosis of malignant GIST depended on the pathological examination, but the most worthwhile diagnostic criterion was the presence of CD117 and CD34 cells. Conclusion Since the prognosis is very poor, radical hemicolectomy is the principal treatment, and comprehensive treatment is necessary to improve clinical result.

Chinese Journal of Interventional Cardiology 1996;0(04):-
Objective To compare the effects of intracoronary verapamil on coronary flow, myocardial perfusion and clinical outcome during primary percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) for acute ST elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI).Methods A total of 99 consecutive STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI were randomly assigned to receive intracoronary verapamil or intracoronary heparinised saline immediately after stent deployment.Coronary flow was assessed by Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction(TIMI) flow grade(TFG) and corrected TIMI frame count(CTFC),and myocardial perfusion was assessed by TIMI myocardial perfusion grade(TMPG) and TIMI myocardial blush grades(MBG).Coronary and myocardial perfusion were assessed before and after PCI,as well as after drug administration by two doctors independently.Echocardiography were performed one week after PCI.Incidence of major adverse cardiac events in hospital and 3 months follow-up were compared between the two groups. Results Eight patients were excluded from the final analysis.Among the remaining 91 patients,47 patients were in the verapamil group and 44 patients were in control group.Baseline characteristics and angiographic characteristics were not significantly different between the two groups.CTFC,TFG,TMPG,and MBG before and after PCI were of no significant differences between the two groups. However, after drug administration, the verapamil group showed better outcome compared with the control group in CTFC(27.1?14.2 vs 39.0?23.8,P=0.011),TFG≥2(100% vs 90.9%,P=0.035),MBG≥2(91.5%% vs 75.5%,P=0.034),and TMPG≥2(89.4% vs 72.7%,P=0.042).LVEF measured by echocardiography was not significantly different between the two groups one week after PCI.The combined incidence of MACE in hospital(4.3% vs 9.1%,P=0.613) and at 3-month follow-up(23.9% vs 22.7%,P=0.894) was similar between the verapamil group and the control group. Conclusion Intracoronary administration of verapamil can improve coronary flow and myocardial perfusion in STEMI patients underwent primary PCI but show no obvious improvement in short-time clinical prognosis.
