Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2013;19(8):748-751
Objective To study the general rule in the power spectrum percentage of balance when normal people standing and the differences of the power spectrum percentage between normal people and the stroke patients. Methods 30 normal people and 30 stroke patients was tested with Active Balancer EAB-100 (Sakai Iryo) open- and close-eye. The whole path length, circumference area and the percentages of power spectrum on the X, Y and Z axes were recorded. The correlation and the differences were analyzed. Results The percentages of power spectrum were not statistically correlated (P>0.05) with age, height, weight or gender. There was significant difference between two groups in the percentage of power spectrum (P<0.05). On the frequency spectrum, the ratio rised on the low and middle frequency part, especially within 0.2~2 Hz, but the ratio decreased on the high frequency part (2~10 Hz) (P<0.05). Conclusion The percentage of power spectrum can be an important reference in assessing the stroke patients' balancing functions.

Objective To study MRI findings of pancreatic ducts of piglets with chronic pancreatitis (CP) induced by pancreatic duct ligation and analyze the relationship between pancreatic duct changes in piglets with CP and the pathological severity of CP. Methods Thirty healthy piglets were included in this study. Five piglets were randomly selected as normal control group, and the remaining 25 piglets were served as the experimental group. The duct ligation operations were performed on experimental group. After 2 to 18 weeks, pancreas and pancreatic ducts were observed on MRI. Then the pancreas was removed and graded into three types by histopathology. The relationship between the diameter of pancreatic duct or the pancreatic branch displaying rate and the severity of CP was analyzed by Spearman correlation coefficient. Results CP was found in 21 piglets( 84. 0% ) in the experimental group including mild ( n = 7 ), moderate ( n = 8 ) and severe( n = 6) pancreatitis. Pancreatic ducts were shown in mild CP and the edge of pancreatic ducts was irregular in three cases. The dilated RPD, LPD and MPD constituted the "person" form in moderate and severe CP. The diameter of pancreatic ducts was(0. 9 ±0. 3)mm, (2. 9 ± 1.4)mm and (4. 8 ± 1.2)mm in mild, moderate, and severe CP respectively. The expansion extent of pancreatic ducts was correlated with the severity of CP of piglets (r = 0. 837, P < 0. 05). The pancreatic branch displaying rate increased with the increase of the severity of CP ( r = 0. 990, P < 0. 05 ); the displaying rate was 0/7 for mild, 3/8 for moderate, and 5/6 for severe CP. Conclusions The dilated pancreatic ducts with "person" form in piglets with obstructive CP created by pancreatic duct ligation. The pancreatic duct changes on MRI reflect the severity of CP of piglets.

Objective To establish a risk assessment model for laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) with segmental renal artery clamping (SRAC).Methods In the first stage,107 patients who underwent LPN with SRAC from December 2009 to September 2011 were retrospectively reviewed. There were 63 men and 44 women, aged from 11-80 years, mean (58.1 ±10.1) years. The blocking program of target arteries was dependent on the experience of the surgeon and CTA.After multiple Logistic regression analysis, variables used to build a nomogram were selected using a backward elimination scheme. Then,a model for a clamping program customized to the patient was designed. In the second stage, the surgical outcomes of 141 patients who subsequently underwent LPN-SRAC with the applied model from October 2011 to June 2014 were compared with those of the first stage patients. There were 84 men and 57 women, aged from 51-75years,mean (59.9 ± 8.6) years.Outcomes of two stages were compared. Results Five potential predictors were initially assessed including segmental renal artery angle, target artery diameter, and distance to the abdominal aorta, renal hilum, and kidney midline. The regression equation was then set up with Logistic regression analysis.Compared with the patients in the first stage, success rate of clamping in the second stage, with the help of the new SRAC model, was improved from 74.8% (175/234) to 94.2%(227/241) (P < 0.001),the total operative time was decreased from (88.6 ± 10.9) min to (80.2 ±16.6) min (P<O.001),and operative blood loss was reduced from (198.7 ±111.6) ml to (168.5 ±117.8) ml (P =0.042).No obvious differences were observed in warm ischemia time, postoperative hospitalization,R.E.N.A.L nephrometry score,or number of final clamped branches. Conclusion The model for assuring clamping success was helpful in designing an SRAC program.

OBJECTIVETo study the numbers and locations of spermatic veins, testicular arteries, and lymphatic vessels in the spermatic cord of the varicocele patient under the laparoscope.
METHODSFifty-seven varicocele patients received laparoscopic ligation of spermatic veins, during which we recorded the numbers and observed the locations of spermatic veins, testicular arteries, and spermatic lymphatic vessels.
RESULTSDuring the surgery, we identified 3.3 ± 1.2 spermatic veins, 1.4 ± 0.9 testicular arteries, and 4.3 ± 1.1 spermatic lymphatic vessels. No statistically significant differences were observed between the two side in the numbers of the spermatic veins, testicular arteries and spermatic lymphatic vessels (P > 0.05). The testicular arteries were seen on the exterior of the spermatic veins and winding around them, while the spermatic lymphatic vessels mostly between the veins.
CONCLUSIONThe spermatic veins, testicular arteries, and lymphatic vessels in the spermatic cord of the varicocele patient have their specific anatomic characteristics. Laparoscopic identification of these vessels may contribute to the surgical treatment of varicocele.
