OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of relationship between the frequency of various persecutors in schizophrenic delusion and religious orientation with other religious variables. METHODS: The subjects were 105 schizophrenic patients. Diagnostic criteria used in this study was DSM-III-R. Religious orientation was assessed with the Intrinsic and Extrinsic Religious Orientation Scale. Demographic data, religious data, and contents of persecutory delusion were also analyzed. RESULTS: 1) The group obsessed with religious delusion regarded God, ghosts, and supernatural beings as persecutors. Predominantly, they used to have religious affiliation with protestantism before schizophrenic onset while being "intrinsic" in religious attitude. They also participated in religious activities more than 2 times every week. 2) The group who regarded religious leaders and shamans as persecutors predominantly had a religious affiliation after schizophrenic onset with "proreligious" and "intrinsic" religious attitude while some of them never participated in religious activity. 3) The group who regarded predominantly family and relatives as persecutors have a religious affiliation with buddhism and others(shamanism and etc) after schizophrenic onset with "extrinsic" religious attitude. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that religious orientation and other religious factors seem to affect persecutory delusion formation in schizophrenic patients.

A case of amelia, which affected upon both lower extremities, was experienced at the Taegu Presbyterian Hospital. We report this case because of rarity of amelia and an addition of the case with brief review of literatures.

Ileal loop cutaneous urinary diversion has been generally accepted as the best method of permanent cutaneous urinary diversion. The authors devdeloped a computer program for automatic coding of ACR (American College of Radiology) code. The automatic coding of the ACR code is essential for computerization of the data in the department of radiology. This program was written in FoxBASE language and has been used for automatic coding of diagnosis in the Deparment of Radiology, Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital since May 1992. The ACR dictionary files consisted of 11 files, one for the organ code and the others for the pathology code. The organ code was obtained by typing organ name or code number itself among the upper and lower level codes of the selected one that were simultaneously displayed on the screen. According to the first number of the selected organ code. the corresponding pathology code file was chosen augomatically. By the similar fashion of organ code selection, the proper pathologic dode was obtained. An example of obtained ACR code is "131.3661". This procedure was reproducible regardless of the number of fields of data. Bacause this program was written in "User's Defined Function" from, decoding of the stored ACR code was achieved by this same program and incoporation of this program into another data processing program was possible. This program had merits of simple operation, accurate and detail coding, and easy adjustment for another program. Therefore, this program can be used for automation of routine work in the department of radiology.

We reviewed 13 patients treated in the Department of Neurosurgery of the Presbyterian Medical Center from 1979 to 1982 who had tumors in the region of the pineal body. The treatment of such tumors has been in a state of flux between conservative therapy(cerebro-spinal fluid shunting and radiotherapy) and direct surgical removal. We compared both modes of treatment and analysed the patients in terms of clinical, pathological and radiological points of view. Good results were obtained by supracerebellar and infratentorial surgical approach.

Intracranial tumor with extracranial metastasis has been seldom reported. A 28 year-old-male was admitted to Presbyterian Hospital in Daegu on May 9, 1977. Who was diagnosed to have a medulloblastoma in the right cerebellar hemisphere with metastases to the right axillary lymphnode and head of pancreas by pathological reports. In generally medulloblastoma with extracranial metastasis occurs very rarely in the cerebellar hemisphere, and especially in adulthood. Distant metastasis of the intracranial tumor is discussed with review of the literatures.

A statistical observations were made on total 79 In-Patients in the departments of dermatology, Dongsan Presbyterian Hospital, Kyungpook National University and Fatima Hospital, Taegu, Korea during the period from Sept. 1, 1975 to August 31, 1976.

We analyzed the overall surgical results in 100 patients with intracranial aneurysms operated in Presbyterian Medical Center during the period from June 1990 to December 1993. Preoperatively, all patients were in Hunt and Hess grades I-III. Overall outcomes revealed 83 patients(83%) of good outcome, 10 patients(0%) of fair outcome. 3 patients(3%) of poor outcome, and 4 patients(4%) of dead outcome. The outcome was worse if surgery was performed in the 4 to 10 day post- bleed interval(P<0.05) and there was no statistical difference of the rate of good outcome between the parients operated at 0 to 3 days, and 11 day more after subarachnoid hemorrhage. In good grade patients, surgical trauma rather than delayed ischemic deficit was considered as the major cause of unfavorable outcome of aneurysm surgery. Intermedia to period operation increased the chance of postoperative delayed ischemic deficit. Systemic complications and vasospasm were the major causes of dead outcome in the oldaged patients.
