Diabetic retinopathy is one of those significant complications of diabetes.With the increasing number of diabetic patients, blind caused by diabetic retinopathy is a serious threat to human health which cannot be neglected, but there is no highly effective treatment for it. Consequently, early detection and preventive treatment for it are important.Currently, studies have found that urine microalbumin had a close relation with diabetic retinopathy and that urine microalbumin might play an important role in early predicting of diabetic retinopathy. The review is about the diagnostic significance of urine microalbumin test for early diabetic retinopathy.

BACKGROUND:Increasing evidence suggests that Sanguis draxonis is of great significance for treating pressure sores, burns and ulcers.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the influences of Sanguis draxonis on vascular endothelial growth factor, epidermal growth factor, substance P and hydroxyproline in rats undergoing tissue-engineered skin transplantation and to verify its promotion of wound repair.
METHODS:The tissue-engineered skin transplantation model of rats were established. Rats in treatment groups were given external application, single oral use of 0.1 g/(kg·d) Sanguis draxonis and combined use, respectively. No treatment was given in control group. After continuous treatment for 7 days, the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor, epidermal growth factor, substance P and hydroxyproline in skin tissue were determined.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the control group, the levels of vascular endothelial growth factor, epidermal growth factor, and hydroxyproline were significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01), while substance P had no change in the treatment groups (P>0.05). These results demonstrate that Sanguis draxonis can promote tissue-engineered skin to repair skin wound by upregulating the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor, epidermal growth factor, and hydroxyproline.

Objective:To investigate the root canal anatomy of one-rooted mandibular second molars. Methods:The root canals of 18 one-rooted mandibular second molars were visualized on radiographs and clinical examination, some specimens were cut at the mid-root level and observations were made on the coronal root section. Teeth with C-shaped canal system were categorized by using a modification of Melton classification.Results:12 molars exhibited C-shaped canals.2 molars were classified as category Ⅰ,5 as Ⅱ and another 5 cases as Ⅲ.Conclusions:C-shaped canals in mandibular second molars vary in canal number and shape.

Objective To observe the effect of acupuncturing Lianquan point combined with rehabilitation on severe pseudobulbar palsy.Methods Sixty patients with severe pseudobulbar palsy were divided into the control group and therapy group with 30 cases in each group. The patients of the control group were treated with medication, nasal feeding and vein nutrition. The patients of the therapy group were added with acupuncturing Lianquan point combined with rehabilitation besides methods the control group used. After two periods of treatment, the effects of two groups were compared.Results The overall efficient rate was 96.7% in the therapy group, and 73.3% in the control group, the former was obviously superior to the latter ( P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncturing Lianquan point combined with rehabilitation can improve the therapeutic effect of severe pseudobulbar palsy.

The DNA fragment RM07 was isolated from halophilic archaea Halobacterium halobium, which can function as promoter not only in halophilic archaea, but also in Escherichia coli as eubacterial promoter. Sequencing analysis indicated that it possessed the typical consensus sequences (-35 and -10) of bacterial gene promoter, which was confirmed by further deletion analysis: With its -35 sequence deleted and -10 sequence left,DNA fragment RM07a nearly cannot initiate transcription;With its both -35 and -10 sequences,RM07b DNA fragment could be active as promoter at a level even higher than RM07. Our research also showed that the promoter function of RM07 fragment in Escherichia coli was under the control of environmental factors,especially its positive correlation with the increasing concentration of sodium chloride. Therefore, RM07 DNA fragment may be potential1 novel promoter source for constructing double-function vectors. It also has special significance in elucidating the issues of the fusing characteristics of archaea and lateral gene transfer between archaea and bacteria.

Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid malignant tumor (TMT) arising on basis of Hashimoto′s disease (HD).Methods 150 pathology proved HD patients admitted between 1976 and 1999 were retrospectively analyzed for the incidence of TMT.Results 15 HD patients were found suffering from thyroid carcinoma with a concurrent rate of 10%, and 3 with thyroid malignant lymphoma (TML) (2%). All postoperative TMT patients were followed up for an average period of 6 years, 15 TC patients were all alive without recurrence, and all TML patients died within 2 years.[WT5”HZ] Conclusion Surgical treatment of HD patient associated with TMT is indicated. The key to diagnosis and rational treatment are a detailed understanding its clinical feature, routine examination of serum antibodies and FNAC or frozen section in operation.

ObjectiveTo explore the effects of extended nursing intervention (ENI) in nursing ability of discharged patients with intubation of T-tubes.Methods Eighty-two patients with biliary diseases discharged with intubation of T-tubes were equally divided into two groups.The patients in the experiment group were treated with ENI and those in the control group were treated with conventional nursing.Each group received routine nursing and health education before discharge.All patients were followed up by a self-designed written questionnaire.Data regarding patients’ compliance behavior,knowledge of the diseases and satisfaction were collected and analyzed.Result Significant differences were observed between the two groups,the patients in the experiment group exhibiting better compliance behavior,their knowledge of their diseases improved and the rate of satisfaction higher (P<0.05). Conclusion ENI may be effective for the discharged patients with intubation of T-tubes to improve their compliance behavior, enhance their knowledge of their diseases and raise the rate of satisfaction.

Objective: To assess the psychosomatic symptoms in women referred for in vitro fertilization. Methods: The SCL-90 was administered to 100 women referred for IVF (in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer ) and 100 women referred for ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) at the time of their first presentation to the infertility clinic. The control group comprised of 100 women presenting to gynecology clinics. In addition, socio-demographic information was captured through a structured questionnaire designed for the purpose of this study.Results:The total scores of two study subgroups and control group were 53.8?30.8, 52.5?31.7 and 42.1?32.3 respectively. Objective To study the effectiveness of the complete ureterel reconstruction using bladder flap after cadaveric renal transplantaion.Methods In 13 recipients with complete necrosis of ureter after renal transplant from July 1995 to October 2003, tubelike bladder flaps were applied to ureteraplasty substitute for the necrosis ureter. Artificial pyeloureterostomy was performed and double T tubes were used as the stents. Routine drainage-tubes were placed in incisions. Results All patients were successful in ureteral reconstruction. The renal function of 10 patients was improved significantly 4 weeks postoperation. Nephrectomy was performed in one patient because of severe circumrenal infection 7 days after operation. One-year survival rate of recipients and allografts was ~100 % (13/13) and ~92.3 % (10/13) respectively. Urine reflow occurred in 2 patients during a follow-up of 12 months. Conclusion The use of bladder flap for ureteral reconstruction is an effective technique for total autograft ureteral necrosis.
