Objective To understand the distribution of overweight and obesity in 0-5 years old children who were born small for gestational age ( SGA) in Shanghai through a cross-sectional investigation. Methods All resident children aged 0-5 years were included, covering all 18 districts in Shanghai. Health-check cards were prepared for SGA children. The check-up included weight,length/height and head circumference. Body mass index ( BMI) was used to evaluate the overweight and obesity according to the standard of World Health Organization ( WHO) . Results This study investigated 728 602 children aged 0-5 years in Shanghai, and ultimately 23 871 of them were defined as SGA,a-mong whom 9 805(41. 4%) were boys and 14 066(58. 9%) were girls. The BMI of SGA children were higher than that of appropriate for gestational age( AGA) from 4 to 18 months, while for the rest of the time, they were basically the same. There was no difference in changing tendency of BMI between SGA children and those AGA children. The distri-bution of overweight and obesity according to the standard of WHO in SGA boys among different ages was 7. 7% to 20. 7%, and 15. 7% in average;the distribution of SGA girls among different ages was 5. 9% to 18. 3%,and 12. 9% in average. The proportion of overweight at the age of 4-18 months was significantly higher than that of other ages. There was no correlation between overweight at 0-2 years old and overweight at the age of 5(P>0. 05). Conclusions Com-pared with SGA girls, overweight and obesity in SGA boys were more serious. The age of 4-18 months were the period of high incidence of overweight. There was no correlation between overweight at 0-2 years old and overweight at the age of 5.

International Journal of Pediatrics 2016;43(3):226-229
Almost 3% of newborns are diagnosed as small for gestational age(SGA)worldwide.Born SGA is one of the important causes of perinatal morbidity and mortality, and is also associated with metabolic diseases in adulthood.Low birth weight by itself is insufficient to characterize growth restriction,as it does not include information about the neonate’s body proportionality.Depending on the origin, timing and severity of in-sult,small for gestational age infants are classified into two types:proportionate or symmetric growth restriction (SGR)and disproportionate or asymmetric growth restriction(AGR).There may be differences in physical and neurological development of these two types. This study compares three classification indexes, and to find differ-ences in postnatal growth of these two types.

Objective To evaluate the role of 5-HT1A receptors in distal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-contacting neurons in neuropathic pain (NP) in rats. Methods Forty male SD rats weighing 230-270 g were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 8 each): sham operation group (group S); NP group; dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) group and 8-OH-DPAT (a specific 5-HT1A receptor agonist) group. NP was induced by chronic constrictive injury (CCI) in groups NP, DMSO and 8-OH-DPAT. Four silk ligatures were placed on the sciatic nerve at 1 mm intervals . In group S, the sciatic nerve was exposed but not ligated. 8-OH-DPAT and DMSO 1 μl were injected into the region where most of CSF-contacting neurons are present over 5 min on 7th day after CCI in groups 8-OH-DPAT and DMSO respectively. Paw withdrawal latency (PWL) and paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) were measured before CCI, on 7th day after CCI, and at 3 and 6 h after administration. The rats were sacrificed 6 h after administration, and the brain tissues removed for determination of the expression of 5-HT1A receptors in the distal CSF-contacting neurons by immunofluorescence. Results Compared with group S, PWL was significantly shorten and PWT decreased at T, in groups NP, DMSO and 8-OH- DPAT (P < 0.01) . Compared with group DMSO, PWL was significantly prolonged and PWT increased at T2 and T3 in group 8-OH-DPAT ( P < 0.01). The 5-HT1A receptor expression was significantly down-regulated in groups NP and DMSO compared with group S, while up-regulated in group 8-OH-DPAT compared with groups NP and DMSO ( P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in 5-HT1A receptor expression between groups NP and DMSO ( P > 0.05). Conclusion 5-HT1A receptors in distal CSF-contacting neurons are involved in the regulation of NP in rats.

BACKGROUND:Interproximal contact loss is a complication of posterior crown/bridge restorations with a higher incidence, and it is induced by a variety of factors, such as age, tooth position, occlusal contact, tooth loss time, whether there is a repair on the free end.OBJECTIVE:To study and analyze the loss of interproximal contact between posterior crown/bridge restorations and adjacent teeth.METHODS: This was a single-center, prospective, observational clinical trial which has been completed at the Stomatology Hospital Affiliated to Southwest Medical University, China. Totaly 82 patients who had underwent posterior crown/bridge restorations from June 2015 to June 2016 in the Stomatology Hospital Affiliated to Southwest Medical University were selected. The time of denture wearing was 1-40 months, and the interproximal contact loss was defined by a 30 μm adjacent contact check or a flossing that can pass through the detection area with no resistance. Single-factor analysis and multiple correlation analysis were performed to analyze the interproximal contact loss at 1, 3, 6 months after posterior crown/bridge restorations. The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Stomatology Hospital Affiliated to Southwest Medical University of China with an approval number of 2016024. All protocols were in accordance with Declaration of Helsinki, formulated by the World Medical Association. All patients and their relatives were informed of study protocols and provided a written informed consent prior to the beginning of the trial.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Of the 82 patients enroled, there were 41 adjacent contact zones with the emergency of interproximal contact loss, including 20 maxillary and 21 mandibular. It indicated that the interproximal contact loss had no association with the upper and lower jaw. Single-factor analysis showed that the time of denture wearing, tooth loss time and repair of the free end were confirmed as independent influencing factors for the complications (P < 0.05). Multiple correlation analysis found that free end repair and short-term tooth loss were independent factors of the interproximal contact loss. To conclude, free end repair and tooth loss time should be considered in the posterior crown/bridge restorations in order to minimize the occurrence of interproximal contact loss.

BACKGROUND: The osteogenesis effects of concentrated growth factors (CGF) gel have been studied, but little has been reported on CGF liquid.OBJECTIVE: To explore the bone mass changes after CGF is used in the dental implant surgery with guided bone regeneration (GBR) in patients with upper anterior tooth labial bone defect, and to evaluate the effect of CGF liquid combined with Bio-Oss bone meal on bone augmentation.METHODS: Fifty patients with single anterior tooth labial bone defect were enrolled and randomly divided into experimental and control groups (n=25 per group). Patients in both groups underwent dental implant surgery with GBR.CGF liqiud, Bio-Oss bone meal and biological membrane were used in the experimental group, and Bio-Oss bone meal and biological membrane used in the control group.RESULTS AND CONCLSUION: All patients healed well according to the successful criteria. Six months postoperatively, there was no significant difference in the thickness changes of labial bone between two groups (P > 0.05). From 6 months to 12 months after operation, the thickness changes of labial bone in the experimental group was significantly less than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Our findings indicate that CGF liquid combined with Bio-Oss bone meal makes good effect on dental implantation of patients with anterior tooth labial bone defect. CGF liquid also contributes to reduce the labial bone resorption of the implant after functional loading.
