Objective To investigate the feasibility of committed differentiation of rhesus bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into tenocytes induced by BMP12. Methods MSCs were transfected with pTARGETTM bearing BMP12 gene by electroporation. The transfected cells were identified by morphological observation and molecular biological measure. Results Under the observation of light microscope, the morphological features of transfected cells changed significantly compared to parental MSCs. RT-PCR data showed the transfected cells had the mRNA expression of BMP12 and collagen Ⅰ, but without that of collagen Ⅲ. 98.39% of the transfected cells were CD44+ and negative for HLA-DR. Conclusion BMP12 could induce MSCs into tenocytes, and bone marrow MSCs might be the optional seed cells for tendon tissue engineering.

Purpose:To assess the security and efficacy of mechanical recanalization and stenting of lilac arteries with complete occlusions without preceding thrombolytic therapy. Materials and methods:During a 3-year period,Eighteen consecutive patients underwent mechanical reeanalization and stenting for complete occlusion of the iliac artery. The method involved recanalizition with a guide wire and a catheter advanced as a while unit through the occluded segment(snowplow technique). Results The occluded segments were successfully traversed and dilated and 32 stents were placed in 18 patients. The mean ankle-brachial index (BAI)increased from 0.39?0.33 before the procedure to 0.86?0.13 after the procedure(P

Chemokines play pleiotropic roles in the pathology of Alzheimer′s disease(AD),a chronic inflammatory disease of central nervous system. The neuropathological features of AD include neurofibrillary tangles, amyloid plaques, neuroinflammation, and neuronal synaptic loss.Chemokines are involved in the pathogenesis of AD by activating or regulating inflammatory cells or glial cells, playing dual key roles of the pro-and anti-inflammatory properties in AD.The levels of chemokines in serum, cerebrospinal fluid and brain tissue of AD patients are changed accordingly. This review summarizes the role of chemokines and their receptors in AD in the biological activities and unveils the changing rules, aiming to provide new strategies for clinical treatment of AD.

Objective To study the security of low dose and half-body irradiation by 60Co ?-rays as a new method of clinical radiotherapy. Methods The simulated manikin was used to simulate human body and two radiation modalities of facing and backing on radioactive source were adopted.Half-body irradiation was done by 60Co ?-rays with doses of 9,10 and 11 cGy.The exposure dose of every layer and important target organs in the simulated manikin were detected, and the security of low dose and half-body irradiation as a therapeutic method was evaluated. Results The exposure dose of every layer and sensitive organs were all within safety margin, when simulated manikin facing or backing on the radioactive source was irradiated by 60Co ?-rays with doses of 9,10 and 11 cGy.Further, the exposure dose of sensitive organs in the simulated manikin backing on the radioactive source was lower than that in those facing the radioacive source. Conclusion The method of low dose and half-body irradiation as a radiotherapeutic method is safe and feasible and the radiation modality of backing on the radioactive source is more safe.

Doxorubicin loaded micelles were prepared by film-hydration method using stearyl sulfadiazine (SA-SD) which is pH sensitive, methoxy (polyethylene glycol)-2000-1, 2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (mPEG-DOPE) and transactivator of transcription (TAT) peptide conjugated PEG-DOPE. Mean diameter of the pH-sensitive micelles was about 20 nm with a (99.1 +/- 2.1) % drug entrapment efficiency at pH 7.4. Flow cytometry studies revealed that the simple TAT micelles was taken up rapidly at the same level at pH 6.8 and pH 7.4. However, the pH-sensitive micelles entered the tumor cell less at pH 7.4 and significantly increase at pH 6.8. After 1 h incubation at pH 6.8, the amount of the pH-sensitive micelles taken up by cancer cell 4T1 was almost similar to simple TAT micelles. The confocal microscopy indicated that the pH-sensitive micelles entered the 4T1 cells at pH 6.8 more than at pH 7.4. It was indicated that the pH-sensitive micelles could shield TAT peptide at normal pH 7.4 and deshield it at pH 6.8. Hence, TAT peptides lead the drug-loaded micelles into the tumor cells and killed them selectively. The pH-sensitive micelle may provide a novel strategy for design of cancer targeting drug delivery system.

BACKGROUND:Thoracic or lumbar spine fracture and dislocation mainly treated by internal/external fixation devices with surgical methods.Fixation methods in treating spine fracture and dislocation is an important subject for scholars.OBJECTIVE:To quantitative analyze the treatment of spinal fracture and dislocation using pedicle screw and plate fixation, and to provide mechanical parameters for clinical application.METHODS:Shimadzu electronic universal testing machine was used to simulate L_1 lumbar fracture and dislocation treated by plate fixation and pedicle screw fixations, specimens were underwent flexion, extension, compression,as well as torsion tests, with speed of 5 mm/min.The torsion test was performed on the torsion machine with speed of 0.05 (°) / s.All the experimental data were analyzed by statistical analysis and paired t test.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The results demonstrated that the outcomes of compression test had no significant differences between 2 groups (P>0.05).The left and right torsion angle of the pedicle screw fixation group was smaller than that of the plate fixation group (P<0.05),and the flexion and extension displacements was smaller in the pedicle screw fixation group than in the plate fixation group (P<0.05).It suggested that plate fixation is worse than pedicle screw fixation, while pedicle screw fixation is conductive to bone healing, thus, pedicle screw fixation is a better internal fixation device.

Hyperlipidemia is one of the main basic lesions of blood vessels and organ diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used in the prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia with advantages such as little drug side effects and obvious efficacy. The establishment of hyperlipidemia diagnostic aid platform helped to improve treatment efficiency, and provide a platform for data acquisition, storage and analysis for research on hyperlipidemia syndrome standardization. At first, a collection system was implemented, which was consisted of tongue image and the text information of the other three diagnostic methods, for doctor's accurate mastering of patient's clinical manifesta-tions and improvement of therapeutic effect. Through this platform, a clustering algorithm was applied to analyze clin-ical information of four diagnostic methods among 897 hyperlipemia cases, which had been classified into 5 cate-gories. Compare disease characteristics of samples in every category with syndromes category and find out the rela-tionships between them, by which the foundation of hyperlipemia syndrome differentiation standardization will be es-tablish. It provided suggestions on TCM syndrome differentiation and diagnosis.
