The aim of study was to analyze the epidemiology of chronic media with effusion and chronic otitis media at E.N.T Department, DakLak Hospital from 2000 to 2004. Retrospective study. Rate: * Chronic media with effusion/otitis:12.95% * Chronic media with effusion/total disease of E.N.T: 3% * Chronic otitis media/otitis: 5.99% * Chronic otitis media/total disease of E.N.T: 1.53% * Male: 43%, female: 57%. Kinh people: 79%, ethnic minority: 21%.

2.Comment on the situation of vomer trauma in 3 years at Dak Lak hospital (2001-2003)

A retrospective study on 273 patients who suffer from vomer trauma were conducted at ENT from Jan 2001 to Dec 2003. The result showed that: the number of patients in the following year often higher in the previous year, most of them are Kinh ethnic. Most of patients who suffered from fracture on vomer operated within 10 days so the result are good, no after effect and complication later. The simple nose bone fracture is higher than multiple trauma, rate in males is 5 times higher than in females. The rate for female in 2003 is higher than in 2002. The number of patients in the provincial level hospitals is higher than in the urban level hospitals. Reason: highest is traffic accident, then fighting accidents and lowest is labor accident. The bone nose fracture caused by fighting in the following year is higher than previous year. In 2002, the traffic accident lessen significantly to compare with 2001 but in 2003, there is an increase of traffic accident cases.

3.3 cases for emergency with foreign body at their airway and esophagus rarely in Dak Lak hospital (22/11 to 9/12/2004)

During 17 days in Dak Lak hospital (22/11 to 9/12/2004). ENT department cured 3 cases for emergency with foreign body in respiratory and esophageal tract. A mental illness patients was swalow a razor blade into his throat in his suicide attempt. A 2-year child with foreign body in respiratory tract and osbtruction the right bronchial tube. A 3-year child swallowed a coin to esophagus. 100% of foreign bodies were removed from respiratory tract within less than 6 hours. 100% of foreign bodies were removed successful in the first attempt. Patients were saved by some luck elements: Patients went into hospital early, accurate diagnosis, timely treatment.

4.The model of E. N. T at Dak Lak hospital from 2000-2004

Study on the situation of patients have symptoms in E. N. T at Dak Lak hospital from 2000-2004. There were 63455 patients examined E.N.T., among which 3098 patients were admitted in 5 years. Ethnic groups: Kinh people 92%, ethnic minority 8%. Sex: male 58%, female 42%. Aged: < 15 year old (29%), < 60 (68%), > 60 (3%). Occupation: the common people (41%), pupil (39%), civil servant (15.2%), < 5 year old (3%). Residence: Buon Ma Thuot 41.31%, suburba: 58.69%. The operation rate of disease group in E.N.T: nasal-sinus 23.96%; throat 54.64%, larynx- oesophagus 11.86%... The rate of disease group in E.N.T: nasal-sinus 46.71%; throat 33.95%, larynx- oesophagus 4.58%. The rate of hospitalized/examined patients was 4.88%. The rate of patients who had health insurance accounted for 47.12%.
