2.Influence of Processing Method on Chemical Composition of Cortex Mori radicis

Cortex Mori radicis (CMR) is a traditional medicine using in the treatment of cough due to heat phlegm. The material consists of Cortex Mori radicis harvesting from the mulberry of four, five, seven and ten years in Hai Duong, Lao Cai, Lam Dong province and bought in Lan Ong street (Ha Noi) and pure honey. CMR is processed by mixing with honey and roasted. CMR with before and after processing also consist of uniform chemical components: flavonoids, tanin, total nitrogen reduced sugars, amino acids and organic acids of the remedy. The contents of flavonoid and tanin in raw CMR and processing CMR does not alter significantly.

3.Studies on processing of cortex paeoniae racidis

Cortex Paeoniae Racidis (CPR) used in traditional oriental medicine was processed by roasting to yellow (CPRy), or black colour (CPRb), or soaking with alcohol, then roasting dry again (CPRa). Before and after processing, CPR contained paeonol , tannin, free sugars and flavonoids. Paeonol was extracted and quantitatively analysed. Studying about the influence of the drug on the coagulating time of rabbit blood and the bleeding time of albino mice, CPRb showed to have the most marked hemostatic effect. Of the three processing forms of the drug, CPRy had the strongest antioxidant action on the mouse liver cell membranes.

4.Study on the chemical composition of variable Nhi Tran Thang remedy

5.Study of the influence of traditional processing methods on the biological effects of Coptis chinensis roots

The LD50 of unprocessed and processed Coptis chinensis roots has been determined. The results showed that LD50 of processed Coptis increased by 142% compared with unprocessed one. The experimental results showed that only processed Coptis had choleretic effect, and the effect of traditionally ginger processed is better. All Coptis liquid extracts had antipyretic effect, among them liquid extract of traditionally ginger processed had better effect, 1g/kg of it had antipyretic effect nearly equivalent to that of 0,1g/kg of analgin. On the other hand, all three liquid extract samples of Coptis have antibacterial effect against ten test bacteria. So our experiments showed that traditional processing methods have both practical and scientific significance

6.Study on acute toxicity and analgesic, sedative effects of Drynaria fortunei - Polypodiaceae on experimentation

The acute toxicity and analgesic, sedative effects of Drynaria fortunei - Polypodiaceae were studied on experimental mice and determined LD50 by Litchfield-Wilcoxon method. Results: this drug in dosage of 4g/kg has analgesic and sedative effect. It hasn't acute toxicity in dosage 64-fold treating dosage

7.Contribution to the Study on Botanical Characteristics of Dangshen Collected in Sa Pa - Lao Cai

The remedy “dang sam” has been used commonly in the traditional oriental medicine to reinforce “khi” (vital energy). Two species of “dang sam” were found in Sapa city (Lao Cai province): a wild one and an acclimatized one. In the current study, the botanical characteristics of the wild “dang sam” were described, and the plant was identified as Codonopsis javanica (Blume) Hook f. The acclimatized “dang sam” also exhibited the characteristics of the Codonopsis genus, and has been planned to be the object of a further study in the future.
