The cross sectional survey as the descriptive epidemiological method was carried out in children under 5 years and mother having children under 5 years in the Tapan and Thai an commune, Ha giang province, My thuan commune, Nam dinh province and Thach ha commune, Ha tinh province. The malnutrition rate was different from one to another. The risks of the malnutrition were: mother have not passed the examination of the primary school; mother with more than 2 children and mother over 35 age; the incorrect evaluation of the nutrition status of children and the children usually suffer the diseases or are suffering the diarrhea or respiratory disease.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2004;14(6):61-66
An intervention study with the case-control design was conducted at 8 schools of 4 communes of Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province. The improved communicating methods (called Active communicating method - "directly ask/answer") were used to educate students, teachers, and parents on nutrition and hygiene for better health for 3 years. An assessment of one year intervention on pupils' and their parents' knowledge about nutrition and hygiene showed that the knowledge of pupils and their parents was significantly increased (P<0.05). In addition, the model of school-based active communicating method - "directly ask/answer" was positively supported by many teachers, pupils and their parents
