Objective To determine whether the supplementation of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in parenteral nutrition (PN) confers treatment benefits to outcomes of septic patients. Methods The databases of MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane central register of controlled trials, the CNKI and the Wanfang biomedicine were searched to identify prospective randomized controlled trials (RCTs) which compared the ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplemented with the standard PN on outcomes of adult patients with sepsis from January 1996 to June 2013.The methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated, and the Cochrane Collaboration RevMan 5.0 was used for data analysis. Results A total of 12 studies enrolling 721 patients were included.Significant reduction in 28-day mortality [relative risk (RR) 0.77,95% confidence interval (95%CI) 0.59 to 0.99,P=0.04],short intensive care unit [ICU,weighted mean difference (WMD)=-3.10,95%CI-5.98 to-0.21,P=0.04] and hospital length of stay (WMD =-3.12,95%CI-4.65 to-1.60,P<0.000 1) were observed in patients receiving ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids supplemented PN.There was no differences in days of mechanical ventilation between patients with or without adding ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in PN (WMD =1.33,95% CI-5.09 to 7.75,P=0.69).Conclusions Meta-analysis results demonstrated that PN supplemented with ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids was beneficial in improving the outcomes of patients with sepsis. However, this conclusion must be interpreted with caution due to the low quality of the enrolled trials.

AIM:To investigate the effect of puerarin on pulmonary vessel collagen metabolism in pulmonary hypertension rats induced by chronic hypoxia and hypercapnia. METHODS: Collagen Ⅰ,Ⅲ and their mRNA were observed in pulmonary arterioles by the technique of immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. RESULTS: ① Light microscopy showed media thickness of pulmonary arterioles was much higher in HH(hypoxic-hypercapnia) group than that of NC(normal control) group, and, vessel cavity turned more straiter in HH group than that of NC group. However, the damage of pulmonary arterioles in HP(hypoxic-pueratin) group was much slighter than that of HH group. ② The levels of plasma ET-1 and lung homogenates Hyr were much higher in HH group than those of NC group( P 0.05). CONCLUSION: Puerarin inhibited the deposition of collagen and improved pulmonary vessel remodeling.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum creatine kinase (CK),creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB),cardiac troponin I(cTnI)and electrocardiogram (ECG) before and after the treatment of pneumo-nia in children. Methods From December 2014 to December 2016,95 children with pneumonia were selected as the study group, and 48 healthy subjects who underwent the healthy assessment from December 2014 to January 2016 were selected as the control group. All children with pneumonia were treated after admission.2 mL of venous blood were collected from each research subject after the admission and patients in study group after treatment, serum was seperated, and levels of CK,CK-MB,cTnI were measured and the ECG record was conducted. Results The serum levels of CK,CK-MB and cTnI in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05);the incidences of ST segment elevation or depression, atrial premature beat,ven-tricular premature beat, sinus tachycardia and sinus bradycardia in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05);the serum levels of CK,CK-MB and cTnI in the study group were lower than those before treatment, and the difference was statistically signif-icant (P<0.05);the incidences of atrial premature beat, ventricular premature beat, sinus tachycardia and si-nus bradycardia in the study group after treatment were lower than those before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);the incidence of ST segment elevation or depression after treatment in the study group was lower than that before treatment, and there was no significant difference (P>0.05).Con-clusion The serum levels of CK,CK-MB,cTnI and ECG were obviously abnormal in children with pneumoni-a.After treatment, serum CK,CK-MB and cTnI levels can be reduced and ECG abnormalities can be ameliora-ted.
