Objective: To investigate the osteointegration and osteoinduction of nano hydroxyapatite/bioglass ( nHA/BG ) gradient nanofilm on the surface of titanium ( Ti) prepared by hypotherm sintering and plastic deformation. Methods:Hypotherm sintering was used to produce nHA/BG gradient coating followed by soaking in the simulated body fluid. Ti implants with gradient coatings were planted in femoral condyles at one side of 12 New Zealand rabbits and the untreated Ti implants were planted at the other side as the controls. 1, 3 and 6 months after implantation, the animals were sacrificed after X-ray examination and the tissues around the implants from the 3 month group were used for the preparation of hard tissue section and ground section. New bone formation was observed by tetracycline fluorescence staining. Von Gieson staining was used to observe the osteointegration at the interface between bone and im-plant. Results:The gradient coatings were porous and composed of irregular rod-like nano-HA crystals. Animal study showed well es-tablished osteointegration between the gradient coating and more novel bone was found around the implants with gradient coatings. Conclusion:Osteointegration and ostioinduction of Ti implant can be enhanced by nanostructured surface with gradient coatings of nHA/BG.

Objective To study the differences in levels of plasma cytokine profiles including interleukin-6 (IL-6),interleukin-10 (IL-10),tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and C-reactive protein (CRP) between healthy controls and people with smoking and alcohol drinking behaviors at different ages,and to investigate the correlation of plasma cytokine profiles with age,smoking and alcohol drinking behaviors.Methods The concentrations of IL-6,IL-10,TNF-alpha and CRP in 350 healthy volunteers,60 cigarette smokers and 65 people with smoking and alcohol drinking behaviors were detected by ELISA.All subjects were grouped by age,gender,smoking and alcohol drinking behavior.The differences in the levels of plasma cytokine profiles among groups were analyzed by statistics software SPSS18.0.Results The concentrations of IL-6 and CRP in 25-39years,40-49 years,50-59 years and over 60 years groups were (1.1±0.7) ng/L,(1.5±0.1) ng/L,(1.7±0.2) ng/L,(2.1±0.1) ng/L and (3.1±1.0) mg/L,(4.4±±0.6) mg/L,(6.2±1.7) mg/L,(8.0±0.8) mg/L,respectively.The concentrations of IL-6 and CRP were significantly increased with age (F=1.60,7.50,P=0.012,0.043),while the concentrations of IL-10 and TNF-alpha were not correlated with age (F=4.20,4.80,P=0.178,0.421).There were no significant differences in the concentrations of IL-6,IL-10,TNF alpha and CRP between males and females (P＞0.05).The plasma CRP level was higher in smoking group than in control group [(6.8±0.6) mg/L vs.(3.1± 0.4) mg/L] and was highest in smoking-alcohol group [(9.5±0.5) mg/L vs.(6.8±0.6) mg/L,(3.1±0.4) mg/L,F=8.40,P=0.046].Compared with the control group,IL-6 level was increased and IL-10 level was decreased in smoking group and smoking-alcohol group.There were no significant differences in levels of IL-6,IL-10 and TNF-a among the three groups (F=2.90,4.30,4.80,P=0.089,0.672,1.231).Conclusions The plasma levels of IL-6 and CRP are significantly increased with age,but the plasma levels of IL-10 and TNF-a have no correlations with age.The plasma levels of IL-6,IL-10,TNF-a and CRP are not affected by gender.CRP level is significantly influenced by smoking and alcohol drinking behaviors,which should be taken into consideration to establish the reference values.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of salidroside (sal) on the expressions of Bcl-2, Bax and caspases-3 proteins in cultured rat subventricular zone (SVZ) neural stem cells (NSCs) exposed to hypoxia injury.

METHODSPrimarily cultured SVZ NSCs from adult SD rats were incubated with salidroside (120 and 240 µmol/L) for 24 h prior to exposure to hypoxia. The cell viability was assessed with MTT assay, and the cell apoptosis was analyzed using TUNEL staining and flow cytometry. Western blotting was performed to detect the expressions of Bcl-2, Bax and caspase-3 in the cells.

RESULTSSalidroside pretreatment of the cells for 24 h resulted in an obvious resistance to hypoxia-induced cell apoptosis and decrement of cell viability (P<0.05). Salidroside also antagonized the effect of hypoxia exposure in lowering Bcl-2/Bax ratio apoptosis of rat neural stem cells and decreased the expression of caspases-3 protein (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONSalidroside can significantly resist hypoxia-induced. The neuroprotective effect of salidroside may be related to the modulation of expressions of apoptosis-related proteins.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between behavioral changes and cell proliferation in subventricular zone (SVZ) after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in adult rats. METHODS: Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into a behavioral test group (n = 19) and a bromodeoxyuridine (Brdu) immunohistochemical staining group (n = 21). ICH was induced by stereotactial injection of collagenase type VII into straitum. Proliferating cells were labeled by injection intrapenitoneally of bromodeoxyuridine in a pulse protocal. Rats were killed on day 2, 7, 14, and 28 after the ICH. Behavioral test and bromodeoxyuridine immunohistochemical staining were performed.Behavioral change was tested by forelimb placing test, Berderson's grade and corner turn test in rats. Cell counting of bromodeoxyuridine immunoreactive cells in SVZ was performed. RESULTS: There were marked neurological deficits by day 2 after the ICH, with progressive recovery of function over 4 weeks. A significant increase in the number of bromodeoxyuridine immunoreactive cells in the ipsilateral and cortralateral SVZ was observed from 2 to 14 days with a peak at day 7 after the ICH compared with the sham group.The bromodeoxyuridine immunoreactive cells decreased to control level 28 days after the ICH. CONCLUSION Proliferation of cells in SVZ corresponds well with behavioral recovery after the ICH, which indicates SVZ cells may be involved in the repairing process after the ICH.

Objective To analyze the massive explosions and burn at Tianjin Port in 2015 resulted in a mass casualty event,and the entire course of response of a hospital to deal with such major sudden accident in order to find a rational strategy for optimal use of medical resources and reduce the critical mortality.Methods This study was done by a retrospective analysis of data from one trauma center at an academic hospital.Data including outcome,triage,severity and pattern of injuries,patient flow,and medical resources used were obtained by the review of hospital records.Results This disaster caused 165 deaths,8 missing contact,and 797 non-fatal casualties.The Pingjin Hospital admitted 298 casualties,and 29 of them were seriously injured referred to by Tianjin Emergency Medical Center.Excessive triage rate made after transfer to another hospital was 62.07% with 11 of the 29 severely injured patients.Maximum (also the first)surge had 147 injured patients arrived around one hour after incident,the second surge had 31 seriously injured patients occurred around 4 hours after incident.Of them,17 patients needed surgery and 17 patients were admitted to the intensive care unit.Conclusions These data showed that the number of casualties in the first surge was substantially larger than predicted and those casualties had less severe trauma,whereas the number of the injured in the second surge was less but the trauma was more severe.In order to maintain the hospital surge capacity,an effective re-triage and a hospital-wide damage control principle can be used to deal with.

Objective To explore the effect of Ligustrazine on neurogenesis in cortex after focal cerebral ischemia in rats. Methods Focal cerebral ischemia was induced by left middle cerebral arteryocclusion with asuture. Two hours later, injection of Ligustrazine (80 mg/kg, 1 time/d) was performed peritoneally. Four hours after the ischemia,5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) (50 mg/kg, 1 time/d) was injected peritoneally. At 7 d, 14 d and 21 d after ischemia,BrdU positive cells in the cortex were observed by immunohistochemical staining. Results In ischemic model group, at 7 day, sparsely-distributed BrdU positive cells were observed in the Ⅱ - Ⅵ layers of the ipsilateral cortex, with a band-like distribution in ischemic penumbra. With the prolongation of ischemia, the number of BrdU positive cells increased.In Ligustrazine group, BrdU positive cells were also observed in the Ⅱ - Ⅵ layers of the cortex, with an intense distribution in ischemic penumbra. The numbers of BrdU positive cells at 7 d, 14 d and 21 d were more than those in ischemic model group respectively. Conclusion Ligustrazine increases the proliferated cells in cortex after focal cerebral ischemia in rats. The results suggest that it may be useful for promoting self-repair after ischemia.

Objective To discuss the relationship between repetitive variable deceleration with a short interval (RDSI) in labor and neonatal acidosis.Methods One hundred and seventy-seven electronic fetal heart monitoring (EFM) patterns within one hour preceding delivery in term singleton pregnancies were collected in Peking University Third Hospital between February 2011 to October 2013.Continued EFM were recorded before delivery.Analysis was conducted on general information of both mothers and babies,including pregnant complications,duration of labor,cord and placental factors,nature of amniotic fluid,Apgar score and neonatal cord blood gas.RDSI was defined as that over 50％ intervals between two decelerations (the end of the last deceleration to the beginning of the next one) ≤ 60 s which appeared repetitevly in a period of 20 minutes.Independent sample t test,rank sum test,Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were applied for statistics and receiver operating characteristic curve was obtained from the information of those with RDSI.Results Twenty-four of the 177 women with RDSI were assigned to the study group (24 cases,13.6％) and the rest 153 cases without RDSI to the control group.Background information of women in the two groups was comparable according to the maternal age,gestational weeks at delivery and duration of labor (all P ＞ 0.05).The occurrence of meconium stained amniotic fluid in the study group was higher than that of the control group [16.7％ (4/24) vs 5.2％ (7/153),x2=5.204,P=0.045],while the pH and base excess value of the neonatal blood gas in the study group were lower [7.20 (7.13-7.28) vs 7.29 (7.25-7.33),Z=-4.490;-6.10 (-4.67 to-9.62) mmol/L vs-3.20 (-4.90 to-1.55) mmol/L,Z=-5.044;P ≤ 0.01] resulting a higher rate of neonatal acidosis [50.0％(12/24) vs 7.8％ (12/153),x2=31.456,P ＜ 0.01].No significant difference was found in the incidence of neonatal asphyxia between the two groups.The area under the curve was 0.774 (95％CI:0.579-0.969).Conclusion RDSI in labor might indicate a high risk of neonatal acidosis.

Objective To evaluate the change of serum creatinine (Scr) before and after administration of contrast agent in different dose,to observe the difference of dog's kidney tissue with electron microscopy and investigate the effect of contrast agent on renal function.Methods Twelve dogs were divided into four groups randomly:the control group,the low dose group,the moderate dose group and high dose group.After the administration of different doses of iodine contrast agent at the same rate,the changes of Scr and microscopic structure were compared before administration and 48 hours later.Results The differences of Scr before and 48 hours after administration were (4.6±1.6) μmol/L,(6.7±2.5) μmol/L,(6.9±4.5) μmol/L,(5.1± 1.9) μmol/L for control group,low dose group,moderate dose group and high dose group,respectively.There was no statistically significant difference among the groups (P ＞0.05).In high dose group,the mitochondria of tubular epithelial cells were swelling and obvious vacuoles were observed.Only a small amount of vacuoles existed in the renal tubular epithelial cells in low dose group.Conclusion Compared with the moderate and high dose group,the low-dose iodine contrast agent have less damage to the kidney cells of the dogs.

Objective: To monitor the prevelance of Neisseria meningitidis among healthy children and adolescents aged 3-18 in Anhui Province, so as to provide support for epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis prevention and control. Methods: From September to October in 2021 and 2022, 4 033 healthy children and adolescents aged 3-18 were selected by stratified random sampling from Anhui Province, including areas north of the Yangtze River (Bozhou, Fuyang, Bengbu, Huainan, Chuzhou, Hefei) and areas south of the Yangtze River (Wuhu, Maanshan, Tongling, Anqing, Chizhou, Xuancheng) and the secretions of children and adolescents were collected from the posterior pharyngeal wall above the uvula, and the strains were identified by bacterial culture and nucleic acid detection. McNemar test and Kappa consistency test were used for statistical analysis. Chisquare test and Chisquare trend test were used to compare the rates. Results: The carrier rates of Neisseria meningitidis were 0.47% and 1.07%, respectively. The sensitivity of nucleic acid detection was higher. Among the detected bacteria, group B accounted for the largest proportion of 76.74%. It was followed by group C (4.65%), group Y (4.65%), group W 135 (2.33%) and group X (2.33%). The bacteria bearing rate of male students was higher than that of female students (χ2=11.44); with the increase of age, the bacteria bearing rate of children and adolescents showed an increasing trend (χ2trend=42.69); the bacterial bearing rate of children and adolescents in the north of the Yangtze River was higher than that in the south of the Yangtze River (χ2=23.19); the bacteria bearing rate of children and adolescents without immune history was higher than that with immune history (χ2=11.02)(P<0.01). Conclusions Neisseria meningitidis group B has become an epidemic strain in Anhui Province, and senior children and adolescents have become the key population of epidemic prevention and control. It is necessary to continue to do a good job in the surveillance of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis disease and focuse on group B disease cases, so as to prevent the occurrence of cluster outbreaks in schools.

Objective To study the feasibility and value of magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) to monitor non?arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). Methods Thirty eight NAION patients (56 eyes) were divided into acute period in 17 eyes, progressive period in 16 eyes and chronic period in 23 eyes at the base of onset time. According to matching principle, 56 eyes in 38 normal controls (NCs) were enrolled. All the patients and NCs underwent MR and DTI scan. The raw data were processed by two experienced radiologists, mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivities (λ//), radial diffusivities (λ┴), fractional anisotropy (FA) and Length value were got. The independent sample t test was used for the parameter values between the NAION group and the NCs group. A single factor variance analysis was used to compare the parameters among different stages of NAION group. Results Compared to the NCs group, the values of FA and Length in NAION group were reduced [0.20±0.11 vs 0.31±0.12, (5.85±0.92) vs (65.11± 6.89) mm], and the differences were statistically significant (t=-4.28,-5.25;P<0.05). The values of MD andλ┴were increased [(0.16±0.04)×10-3 vs (0.10±0.04)×10-3 mm2/s, (0.16±0.05)×10-3 vs (0.09±0.03)×10-3 mm2/s] in NAION group and the differences were statistically significant (t=6.83, 7.10;P<0.05). The value of FA and Length in acute period, progressive period and chronic period of the NAION group decreased differently compared to the NCs group. At the same time, the value of MD value and λ┴in the three periods of the NAION group increased compared to the NCs groupand the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The value of FA between the acute period, the progressive period, and the chronic period of NAION group were statistically signficant (F=10.88, P<0.05). However, no significant differences were found in the values of MD, λ┴and Length of the NAION group (F=0.23, 0.64, 0.33, 1.38;P=0.79, 0.54, 0.72, 0.27). Conclusion The parameters of DTI can be used to monitor the damage of optic nerve and development in NAION.
