Objective To evaluate the interventional effects of virtual reality(VR)on cancer patients in pain,anxiety,cognitive function,upper limb function and quality of life.Methods Randomised controlled trials(RCTs)using VR technology on cancer patients were retrieved from databases of CNKI,Wanfang Database,SinoMed,VIP,PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,PsycINFO and Cochrane Library,from the inception of the databases to March 2023.Two reviewers independently examined and screened the literatures,followed by evaluation of the quality and extraction of relevant themes.Meta-analysis was conducted by using RevMan 5.3 to analyse the acquired data.Results A total of 9 RCTs involving 727 patients were included.The meta-analysis demonstrated that VR technology alleviated pain intensity in cancer patients[SMD=-1.31,95%CI(-1.96 to-0.66),P<0.001],relieved anxiety[SMD=-0.96,95%CI(-1.62 to-0.31),P=0.004],improved cognitive function[SMD=3.37,95%CI(1.74 to 5.00),P<0.001],and improved quality of life of cancer patients[SMD=0.67,95%CI(0.38 to 0.96),P<0.001].However,it posed unclear effect on upper limb function[SMD=-0.57,95%CI(-1.40 to 0.26),P=0.18].Conclusion VR technology shows potentials in alleviation of pain,reduction of anxiety and improvement of cognitive function and the quality of life in cancer patients,but it remains uncertain effect on upper limb function.However,due to heterogeneity in some of the results,more high-quality studies are required to validate the interventional effects of VR technology on cancer patients.

AIM To investigate the clinical effects of Xuanfei Jiejing Decoction combined with conventional treatment on patients with asthma of Wind-Phlegm Obstructing Lung Pattern.METHODS One hundred and fifty patients were randomly assigned into control group(75 cases)for 4-week intervention of conventional treatment,and observation group(75 cases)for 4-week intervention of both Xuanfei Jieshi Decoction and conventional treatment.The changes in clinical effects,TCM syndrome scores,airway inflammatory indices(ECP,IL-4,IgE),lung function indices(FVC,FEV1/FVC,PEF)and putum and mucus indices(4 h sputum volume,sputum viscosity,mucin 5AC)were detected.RESULTS The observation group demonstrated higher total effective rate than the control group(P＜0.05).After the treatment,the two groups displayed decreased TCM syndrome scores,airway inflammatory indices,putum and mucus indices(P＜0.05),and increased lung function indices(P＜0.05),especially for the observation group(P＜0.05).CONCLUSION For the patients with asthma of Wind-Phlegm Obstructing Lung Pattern,Xuanfei Jiejing Decoction combined with conventional treatment can reduce airway inflammatory levels,inhibit airway mucus secretion,improve lung functions,and alleviate clinical symptoms.

AIM: To investigate the changes of protein expressions in human lens epithelial cells(SRA01/04)undergoing oxidative damage, hoping to provide new protein target for the pathogenesis of age-related cataract(ARC).METHODS: SRA01/04 cells were divided into experimental group and control group. In the experimental group, cells were irradiated with ultraviolet-B(UVB)for 10min to establish the model of oxidative damage, whereas cells in the control group were untreated. Protein expression profile from the two groups was sequenced by isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation(iTRAQ). The filtering criteria that fold change >1.2 and p<0.05 was used to determine the differentially expressed proteins(DEPs). Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)database were utilized for functional enrichment analysis of the top 50 DEPs with either up-regulated or down-regulated significance. Furthermore, Pathway commons software was used to establish the protein-protein interaction(PPI)network.RESULTS: Overall, 552 DEPs were screened out. A total of 176 DEPs were up-regulated in the experimental group compared with the control group, including HMGB1 and USP1, while 376 DEPs were down-regulated, including POLR2A and POLR2B. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis indicated that the top 50 DEPs with up-regulated or down-regulated significance were involved in various crucial biological processes and signaling pathways. PPI network revealed that oxidative damage repair(ODR)-related proteins might play a key role in UVB-induced oxidative damage.CONCLUSIONS: The expressions of multiple proteins, especially ODR-related proteins, can be altered in SRA01/04 cells via UVB irradiation. These findings may provide cellular-related insights into the pathogenesis of ARC and into proteins or pathways associated with therapeutic targets.

By integrating plant metabonomics and target quantitative analysis methods, this study systematically analyzed the differences of chemical constituents in Scutellaria baicalensis leaves from different producing areas in Shanxi, so as to provide theoretical basis for rational and effective utilization of Scutellaria baicalensis leaves. Based on the idea of plant metabonomics, the liquid quality of 53 batches of Scutellaria baicalensis leaves from 8 different producing areas in Shanxi was analyzed by UPLC-QTOF-MS, and the collected data were imported into SIMCA 14.1 software for multivariate statistical analysis to screen the different chemical constituents among different habitats in Shanxi. Meanwhile, a method for simultaneous determination of 7 flavonoids and 3 organic acids in Scutellaria baicalensis leaves was optimized and established to quantitatively analyze the differences of chemical components in Scutellaria baicalensis leaves from different producing areas in Shanxi. The results of plant metabonomics showed that there were differences in the chemical composition of Scutellaria baicalensis leaves in northern Shanxi (Datong, Xinzhou), Jinzhong (Yangquan, Luliang) and southern Shanxi (Changzhi, Yuncheng, Jincheng, Linfen): there were 14 significant differences in chemical composition between northern Shanxi and Jinzhong; there were 18 significant differences in chemical constituents between southern Shanxi and central Shanxi. There were 15 significant differences in chemical constituents between northern Shanxi and southern Shanxi. Among them, scutellarin and isocarthamidin-7-O-glucuronide were the common differences among the three regions, and the content of scutellarin was the highest in southern Shanxi and the lowest in northern Shanxi. The content of isocarthamidin-7-O-glucuronide was the highest in Jinzhong area and the lowest in northern Shanxi area. Quantitative analysis further confirmed that the average contents of apigenin, naringenin and citric acid were the highest in northern Shanxi, scutellarin, caffeic acid, apigenin-7-O-glucuronide, malic acid and wogonoside were the highest in southern Shanxi, and wogonoside and baicalin were the highest in central Shanxi. This study is of great significance to the quality control of Scutellaria baicalensis leaf resources, and provides theoretical basis for rational and effective utilization of Scutellaria baicalensis leaf resources.

With the aging of population intensifies and the level of population health have improved, thus much attention has been directed to how to delaying or preventing skin aging. Skin aging is associated with age, ultraviolet and lifestyle, mainly characterized as skin sagging, wrinkles, pigmentation, so it is urgent to seek traditional Chinese medicine and related cosmetics to solve the problem of skin aging. Traditional Chinese medicine has the functions of anti-oxidation, enhancing human immunity, promoting body metabolism and regulating endocrine, therefore, it has become a research focus in anti-skin aging. This article reviews the skin aging mechanism and the research advances of traditional Chinese medicine anti-skin aging, in order to provide a reference for future research and development of anti-aging traditional Chinese medicine.

Autophagic flux refers to a series of dynamic process of autophagic bilayer membrane formation, autophagosome formation, autophagolysosomes formation and degradation. The etiology of cataract is complex, including congenital abnormalities in lens development due to genetic mutations, oxidative damage due to aging, abnormalities in glucose metabolism due to diabetes, and proliferation of lens epithelial cells(LECs)stimulated by postoperative inflammatory factor, all of which are associated with the development of cataracts. A growing number of research in recent years have discovered that altering the status of LECs can contribute to the pathophysiological process of cataract by regulating autophagic flux. This review summarized the impacts of autophagic flux regulation on cataract.

AIM: To analyze the correlations among parameters from iTrace visual function analyzer, Pentacam 3D anterior segment analysis system and lens opacities classification system(LOCS)Ⅲ in the assessment of lens opacity of age-related cataract(ARC)patients.METHODS: A prospective cross-sectional study. A total of 104 ARC patients(104 eyes)in the department of ophthalmology of our hospital from May to August, 2021 were included. The cataracts of patients were graded based on LOCSⅢ using a slit-lamp. Opacity map grade(OMG)and dysfunctional lens index(DLI)were obtained by iTrace. Pentacam nucleus staging(PNS)and Scheimpflug images of lenses were acquired by Pentacam. The regional integrated density(IntDen)of Scheimpflug images was obtained by ImageJ. The normality and correlations of parameters were analyzed by SPSS 26.0.RESULTS: All the parameters were normally distributed except 3mm IntDen and IntDen of 6mm posterior subcapsular region. PNS positively correlated with nuclear color(NC)and nuclear opalescence(NO)(r=0.521, 0.440, all P<0.01). The 3mm IntDen positively correlated with NC and NO(rs=0.459, 0.450, all P<0.01). IntDen of 3mm nucleus region positively correlated with NC and NO(r=0.539, 0.543, all P<0.01). IntDen of 3mm posterior subcapsular region was negatively correlated with NC and NO(r=-0.315, -0.321, all P<0.01). 6mm IntDen positively correlated with NC and NO(r=0.321, 0.288, all P<0.01). 3mm DLI negatively correlated with NC, NO, and posterior subcapsular cataract(PSC)(r=-0.257, -0.234, -0.282, all P<0.01). 6mm DLI negatively correlated with NC, NO, PSC(r=-0.247, -0.304, -0.227, all P<0.05). 3mm OMG positively correlated with CC and PSC(r=0.268, 0.333, all P<0.01), and 6mm OMG positively correlated with CC and PSC(r=0.275, 0.245, all P<0.05). 3mm DLI negatively correlated with PNS and IntDen of 3mm nucleus region(r=-0.217, -0.197, all P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Each lens opacity assessment system had its own advantages. Taking all parameters into comprehensive consideration is conducive to objectively eraluate the opacity degree of each area of the lens and provide references for clinical work.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy of GelMA hydrogel loaded with bone marrow stem cell-derived exosomes for repairing injured rat knee articular cartilage. METHODS: The supernatant of cultured bone marrow stem cells was subjected to ultracentrifugation separate and extract the exosomes, which were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, particle size analysis and Western blotting of the surface markers. The changes in rheology and electron microscopic features of GelMA hydrogel were examined after loading the exosomes. We assessed exosome release from the hydrogel was detected by BCA protein detection method, and labeled the exosomes with PKH26 red fluorescent dye to observe their phagocytosis by RAW264.7 cells. The effects of the exosomes alone, unloaded hydrogel, and exosome-loaded hydrogel on the polarization of RAW264.7 cells were detected by q-PCR and immunofluorescence assay. We further tested the effect of the exosome-loaded hydrogel on cartilage repair in a Transwell co-culture cell model of RAW264.7 cells and chondrocytes in a rat model of knee cartilage injury using q-PCR and immunofluorescence assay and HE and Masson staining. RESULTS: GelMA hydrogel loaded with exosomes significantly promoted M2-type polarization of RAW264.7 cells (P < 0.05). In the Transwell co-culture model, the exosome-loaded GelMA hydrogel significantly promoted the repair of injured chondrocytes by regulating RAW264.7 cell transformation from M1 to M2 (P < 0.05). HE and Masson staining showed that the exosome-loaded hydrogel obviously promoted cartilage repair in the rat models damage. CONCLUSION GelMA hydrogel loaded with bone marrow stem cell-derived exosomes can significantly promote the repair of cartilage damage in rats by improving the immune microenvironment.

In this experiment, Panax notoginseng saponins chitosan nanoparticles(PNS-NPs) were prepared by self-assembly and their appearance, particle size, encapsulation efficiency, drug loading, polydispersity index(PDI), Zeta potential, and microstructure were characterized. The prepared PNS-NPs were intact in structure, with an average particle size of(209±0.258) nm, encapsulation efficiency of 42.34%±0.28%, a drug loading of 37.63%±0.85%, and a Zeta potential of(39.8±3.122) mV. The intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs in rats was further studied. The established HPLC method of PNS was employed to investigate the effects of pH, perfusion rate, and different drugs(PNS raw materials, Xuesaitong Capsules, and PNS-NPs). The absorption rate constant(K_a) and apparent permeability coefficient(P_(app)) in the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and colon were calculated and analyzed. As illustrated by the results, the intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs was increased in the perfusion solution at pH 6.8(P<0.05), and perfusion rate had no significant effect on the K_a and P_(app) of PNS-NPs. The intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs was significantly different from that of PNS raw materials and Xuesaitong Capsules(P<0.05), and the intestinal absorption of PNS-NPs was significantly improved.
