[Summary] The ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament ( OPLL ) is caused by environmental , genetic and other factors. With the development of genomics research , researchers have found that mutations are important factors inducing OPLL . Despite the genomics research on OPLL has made important advances , no highly correlation has been found between OPLL and the exact single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) loci. The pathogenesis of OPLL needs further exploration .
3.Determination of riboflavin in rabbit corneal stroma under three interventions
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2013;32(11):1016-1020
Backgroud EDTA is an important calcium chelator, commonly used as an ophthalmic additive, its role in promoting corneal penetration of drug may facilitate transepithelial corneal collagen crosslinking. However, there were few reports about the penetration of riboflavin to corneal stroma enhanced by EDTA both home and abroad. Objective To determine the concentrations of riboflavin in corneal intrastromal under different interventions using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).To ensure the efficacy and safety of 0.5% EDTA in riboflavin penetrating to corneal stroma by the transepithelial procedures. Methods Fifteen New Zealand white rabbits were randomized into three groups, corneal epithelium of 5 rabbits were debrided, corneal epithelium of another 5 rabbits were left in situ and 0.5% EDTA-Na2 was topically applied for 1 hour, and the corneal epithelium of last 5 rabbits were just left in situ, after those procedures 0.1% riboflavin + 20% dextran was applied topically to the corneas for 30 minutes(1 drop every 3 minutes). Then, the epithelium in the corneas of EDTA and epi-situ group were carefully removed before all the corneas were punched with an 8.5 mm diameter blade and homogenized subsequently.Ultimately, the riboflavin concentrations were determined by HPLC.Results After treated with riboflavin for 30minutes,the mean concentration of riboflavin in the epi-removed group was (23.54± 1.61)μg/g tissue, the EDTA group was (2.04 ±0.25)μg/g tissue and the epi-situ group was (1.44 ±0.06)μg/g tissue, showing significant difference among them (F =1792.839,P =0.000).There were statistically significant differences between any two groups (t =41.780,7.484,43.408,all at P < 0.05).However,the riboflavin concentration of other two groups were failed to meet the theoretical value 15 μg/g tissue, excepted for epi-removed group. Conclusions The diffusion of riboflavin to the corneal stroma can be fully enhanced by removing the epithelium preoperatively, penetration enhancer EDTA can effectively promote the penetration of riboflavin to the cornea, but it still can not replace the role of removing epithelium on the penetration of riboflavin to the cornea.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of skin needling plus flash cupping for hemifacial spasm. Method Forty patients were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 20 in each group. For both groups, the following acupoints were selected: Baihui (GV20), Sishencong (EX-HN1), Yifeng (TE17), Xiaguan (ST7), Cuanzhu (BL2), Yangbai (GB14), Taiyang (EX-HN5), Quanliao (SI18), Jiache (ST6), Dicang (ST4), Hegu (LI4), and Waiguan (TE5). Skin needling plus flash cupping was used for the treatment group, while even reducing-reinforcing needling method was used for the control group. Seven-day treatments were considered as a treatment course, and the therapeutic efficacy was analyzed after 3 courses. Result The cure rate was 65.0%in the treatment group versus 45.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Skin needling plus flash cupping can produce a significant efficacy in treating hemifacial spasm, better than ordinary needling method.

BACKGROUND:Medical stuff have significant impacts on the development of organ donation and transplantation, however, medical students present insufficient knowledge and ambivalent attitude towards organ donation and transplantation. OBJECTIVE:To perform a systemic review on the effectiveness of educational program intervention on medical students’ knowledge and attitudes toward organ donation and transplantation. METHODS:PubMed, WILEY ONLINE LIBRARY, ProQuest Health, Medline, EMbase, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP databases were ful y searched for the published literature of medical students receiving an educational program intervention on organ donation and transplantation. According to the inclusion criteria, randomized control ed trials and quasi-experimental study were evaluated with the standard of Joanna Briggs Institute. The GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation) framework was used to guide the assessment of the methodological quality of the studies. The outcomes were mainly medical students’ knowledge and attitudes toward organ donation and transplantation.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Eight studies from three countries were summarized. The methods were employed in two studies of randomized control ed trials and quasi-experiment received a high quality rating, five studies received middle quality rating and one study received low quality rating. Educational program increased the knowledge in six studies, and changed the attitudes in six studies. Educational program intervention is a significant strategy to increase medical student’s knowledge about organ donation and transplantation. The majority of involved study are
quasi-experiment study, so more high-quality randomized control ed studies are needed.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2010;44(7):747-752
Objective To evaluate the accuracy of chemical shift imaging (CSI) and MR spectroscopy (MRS) for fat quantification in phantom model. Methods Eleven phantoms were made according to the volume percentage of fat ranging from 0 to 100% with an interval of 10% . The fat concentration in the phantoms were measured respectively by CSI and MRS and compared using one-sample t test The correlation between the two methods was also analyzed. The concentration of saturated fatty acids ( FS), unsaturated fatty acids (FU) and the polyunsaturation degree (PUD) were calculated by using MRS. Results The fat concentration was (48.0 ±1.0)%, (57.0 ±0.5)%, (67.3±0.6)%, (77.3 ±0.6)%, (83.3±0.6)% and (91.0±1.0)% respectively with fat volume of 50% to 100% by CSI. The fat concentration was (8.3 ±0.6)%, (16.3 ±0.7)%, (27.7 ±0.6)%, (36.0 ±1.0)%, (43.5±0. 6)% and (56. 5 ±1. 0)% respectively with fat volume of 10% to 60% by MRS, the fat concentration were underestimated by CSI and MRS (P < 0.05 ), and had high linear correlation with the real concentration in phantoms ( CSI: r = 0. 998, MRS: r = 0.996, P < 0.01 ) . There was also a linear correlation between two methods (r = 0. 992, P < 0. 01 ) but no statistically significant difference ( pairedsamples t test, t = -0. 125 ,P = 0.903). By using MRS, the relative ratio of FS and FU in fat were 0. 15and 0. 85, the PUD was 0. 0325, respectively, and highly consistent with these in phantoms. Conclusion Both CSI and MRS are efficient and accurate methods in fat quantification at 7.0 T MR.
