2.Research Progress of Biological Effects of Hypomagnetic Fields
Space Medicine & Medical Engineering 2006;0(04):-
As natural components of the environment, air and water, geomagnetic field plays an important role, which is closely related to growth and evolution for living organisms. Being off earth magnetic field, biological effects would be fetched out. Settled in the Moon and long-term interplanetary space flight, human being and other biological objects would experience extremely low magnetic fields. In addition, weaker magnetic fields exist in some artificial environment, such as artificial magnetic shielding experimental room, submarine etc. Since 1970s,biological effects of hypomagnetic environment and zero-magnetic environment have continuously studied. This paper will briefly review the research progress about biological effects of hypomagnetic environment..

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2010;14(52):9873-9876
BACKGROUND:Studies demonstrated that, the probability of middle and distal end of femur bone fatigue or fracture reaches maximum when the moving loads increase or under an impact load.OBJECTIVE:To analyze the stress-strain distribution, principle stress vectors and displacements of femur during gait.METHODS:The contour curves of femur and muscles attached to femur were extracted slice by slice based on the serial CT data from a healthy male volunteer, which were used to build musculoskeletal system models. And the straight-line muscle models of the lower extremities were constructed to evaluate muscles forces and joints forces by using a multi-objective optimization method based on gait analysis. The finite element models of femur during gait were built by taking muscle forces and joint forces as boundary conditions in ANSYS 10.0 to obtain the stress-strain distribution and displacements.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The maximal displacement occurred on the femur head, and the maximal stress occurred in the middle and distal end of femur during the whole gait. There exists bigger tensile stress in the location of the femur neck and middle and distal end of corpus ossis femoris. The result validates the fact that femur fracture often happens at the middle and below of femur stem from the viewpoint of biomechanics.

Objective To explore the most suitable chemostatic condition and a method of cell-counting in reconstituted basement membrane invasion experiment in vitro. Method Reconstituted basement membrane invasion experiment was employed, and conditioned medium, fibronectin (FN), and a combination of conditioned medium and FN were respectively used as chemoattractants was placed in the lower compartment of the chamber. After the filters were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE), two kinds of cell-counting methods were employed. One was random cell-counting to count the cells in 5 fields infiltrated in the different areas of the filter membrane under 40?magnification, and the other was whole cell-counting of the infiltrating cells on the whole filter membrane with 4? magnification and image analysis system. Results The number of infiltrating cells in the presence of the chemoattractants was much larger than that of the control group. The number of infiltrating cells of the conditioned medium group was larger than that of FN group. The numbers of infiltrating cells in the combination of conditioned medium and FN groups were significantly larger than those of conditioned medium and FN alone groups. The accuracy of method of random cell-counting under 40? magnification was poorer than that of whole cell-counting with image analysis system. Conclusion Chemoattractants exert strong effect on the tumor cells invasion, and different chemoattractants show different chemotactic abilities. By using image analysis system to count all the infiltrative cells of the whole filter membrane is an objective and accurate cell-counting method.

OBJECTIVETo study clinical efficacy of autologous bone graft for acetabular defect of Crowe III and IV hip dysplasia.
METHODSThe 22 patients with 25 hips of DDH (Crowe type III, IV) from March 2010 to May 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) combined autogenous bone grafting was performed for all these patients with osteoarthritis secondary to DDH. Among them, 19 patients were females (21 hips) and 3 patients were males (4 hips), ranging in age from 43 to 67 years old, averaged 55 years old. There were 6 hips with Crowe type III and 19 hips with Crowe type IV. Before surgery, all the patients had hip pain, limb shortening and hip limited function of hip joint. After 12 months, the degree of recovery about limb length, functional recovery, autogenous bone graft fusion were observed.
RESULTSAll the patients were followed up and no dislocation were occurred. At 12 months after operation, the average Harris hip joint llzncation score were 83.30±6.13, and 18 cases got an excellent result and 4 good. The length of lower limbs decreased from preoperative (3.20±0.81) cm to 12 months after operation (0.92±0.23) cm (t=14.864, P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONTHA combined with structural femoral head autograft for patients with osteoarthritis secondary to DDH can obtain favorable results, significantly improving the effect of operation treatment.
