Objective To evaluate the therapeutic efficiency and side effect of concurrent radiotherapy and weekly chemotherapy with low-dose eisplatin(DDP) and 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) for advanced cervical canc-er. Methods 73 patients with advanced cervical cancer were randomized into two groups: 37 cases in the chemo-radiotherapy group received radiotherapy combined with DDP 40 mg and 5-FU 500 mg weekly for 6-7 weeks. 36 cases in the only radiotherapy group received radiotherapy alone. Radiotherapy was given with conven-tional fraction, the total tumor dose was 50 Gy. Results The rate of overall response and three-year survival and local recurrenc and distant metastasis for the chemo-radiotherapy group and the only radiotherapy group were 97.30%, 89. 19%, 8. 11% and 10. 81%, and those for the only radiotherapy group were 77.78%,66. 67% ,30.56% and 33.33%. The difference of the four groups was statistically significant ( P <0. 05). The rate of bone marrow inhibition and reaction of digestive tract in chemo-radiotherapy group were higher than those in simple radiotherapy group, but most reactions were grade 1 and grade 2, without statistically significant dife-renee between two groups. Conclusion Concurrent radiotherapy and weekly chemotherapy with low-dose cis-platin and 5-fluorouracil for advanced cervical cancer can significantly improve local control rate and survival rate, and have slight side effects.

Objective: Identification of the genes specially expressed in tumor cell but not in normal cell is important for understanding the molecular mechanisms of carcinogencsis. This study will focus on identification of differentially expressed gene fragments in human stomach cancer. Methods: By using the new developing mRNA differential display (DD) technique, genes fragments differentially expressed in stomach cancer tissues from a patient and the adjacent normal tissues beyond the tumor mass were studied. Results: Two differentially displayed complementary DNA fragments from stomach cancer tissues, scgl and scg2 (stomach cancer-associated gene, scg), cofirmed by Northern Blot, were cloned and sequenced. The nucleotide length of scgl is 194 base pairs and that of scg2 is 343 base pairs. After searching against GenBank databases by BLASTN, neither scgl nor scg2 had significant homological gene sequences with the known genes. Conclusion: These results suggested scgl and scg2 might be complementary DNA fragments of novel genes expressed in stomach cancer tissues, but not in normal tissues and may play a role in the occurrence and development of stomach cancer. Further characterization of full-length of these two complementary DNA fragments will be continued.

Objective To analyze the therapeutic outcomes and adverse effects of high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (hd-IVIg) in the treatment of some severe skin diseases (toxic epidermal necrolysis, drug hypersensitivity syndrome, connective tissue disease, autoimmune bullous disease, acute graft-versus-host disease). Methods Twenty-five cases of severe skin diseases were treated with hd-IVIg (0.4 g/kg/day for a course of 5 days). Results The therapeutic outcomes were different from each other. Of all the cases, 21 improved, especially those of acute onset of toxic epidermal necrolysis and drug hypersensitivity syndrome; 1 adult dermatomyositis and 2 elder bullous pemphigoid were not relieved. A patient with acute graft-versus-host disease died. Three patients presented with minor adverse effects (headache and blood pressure rising). Conclusions hd-IVIg is effective and safe in the treatment of some severe skin diseases. More importantly, it has a substantial effect on shortening disease course and decreasing the dosage of glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants as well as on preventing infections.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(02):-
Objective: Our study described the body composition of 50 preschool children aged from 4 to 6 years old and evaluated their nutritional and developing status. Methods: Body composition was measured with dual energy X ray absorptiometry(DXA). Results: BMC, BMD, FTM, %BF, LTM of all children were (463.3?80.9)g、(0.69?0.04)g/cm 2、(3917.1?1281.6)g、(21.8?4.9)、(13391.4? 1823.8 )g respectively. The relationships between BMC and age and between LTM and age were positively correlated. BMD and LTM of the boys were significantly higher than those of the girls. On the contrary, FTM, %BF, F t/l and F t/a of the girls were obviously greater than those of the boys. Conclusion: DXA method may be used to evaluate the nutritional and developing status in preschool childran.

Objective To study the ability of standard strain and clinical isolates of Ureaplasma spp. to form biofilms in vitro and to compare the antibiotic susceptibility of sessile cells and their planktonic counterparts. Methods A total of 21 Ureaplasma wealyticum(Uu) isolates recovered from female patients diagnosed with cervicitis and Uu serovar 3 and Uu serovar 8( Uu3, Uu8) were included. Scanning electron microscope and confocal scanning laser microscopy were used to identify biofilm formation. Conventional antibiotic susceptibility tests and biofilm susceptibility assays for tetracycline, erythromycin and ciprofloxacin were carried out. The paired rank sum test and was applied to analyze the statistical differences between the MIC and the minimal biofilm inhibitory concentration. The x2 test was applied to analyze the statistical differences of global resistance percentages between planktonic cells and sessile cells. Results Uu3, Uu8 and 21 Uu isolates all can form biofilms in vitro. Minimal inhibitory concentration of sessile cells compared with planktonic cells were obviously higher for tetracycline, erythromycin and ciprofloxacin (P <0.001). Global resistance percentages between planktonic cells and sessile cells were different for erythromycin (9.52% vs 61.90% , P < 0. 001), ciprofloxacin ( 80. 95% vs 100% , P = 0. 035 ) and tetracycline (4. 76% vs 14.29% , P =0.293). Conclusion Uu isolates and Uu1, Uu8 all can form biofilms in vitro, and biofilm formation can strengthen resistance of Uu to antibiotics, even multidrug resistance was observed.
