1. Baicalein induces the apoptosis of gastric cancer MGC-803 cells

Objective: To investigate the effect of baicalein (BAI) on the apoptosis of gastric cancer MGC-803 cells. Methods: After MGC-803 cells were treated with different concentrations of BAI, the proliferation and cell apoptosis of MGC-803 cells were detected by MTT and FCM assays, respectively. The cell apoptosis bodies formation of MGC-803 cells after treatment with different concentrations of BAI was observed by Hoechst 33342 staining, and the expression levels of the apoptosis-related proteins of MGC-803 cells were detected by Western blotting. Results: The 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 mol/L BAI could inhibite the proliferation of gastric cancer MGC-803 cells (all P < 0.05). The apoptotic rate of gastric cancer MGC-803 cells after treatment with 10, 15 and 25 mol/L of BAI was increased (all P < 0.05). The number of apoptotic bodies in gastric cancer MGC-803 cells after treatment with 10, 15 and 25 mol/L of BAI was increased by Hoechst 33342 staining (all P < 0.05). The expression levels of cleaved-caspase-3 and cleaved-poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) in MGC-803 cells were up-regulated after treatment with BAI, and the expression level of Bcl-2 was down-regulated (all P < 0.01). Conclusion: BAI can suppress the proliferation of gastric cancer MGC-803 cells, and induce the cell apoptosis. The mechanism may be related to the regulation of the expressions of the apoptosis-related proteins including caspase-3, PARP and Bcl-2 by BAI.
2.Comparison of laparoscopic surgery and open abdominal surgery in treatment of gynecological diseases

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of laparoscope and open surgery for treatment of gynecological diseases. Methods 620 female patients with gynecological diseases were divided into two groups randomly (Group A: n = 310, Group B: n = 310). Group A was treated by laparoscopic surgery, Group B was treated by open abdominal surgery. The clinical effects of laparoscope and open abdominal surgery were compared between the two groups. Results Group A had better results in intraoperative blood loss, recovery time of intestine and stomach function, get out of bed time and hospitalization time than that in group B, there were significant difference (P < 0.01). The gastrointestinal reaction rate after operation, the anodyne utilization, the complication incidence rate was 9.7 %, 5.2 %, 3.9 % respectively, it is lower than that in group B; and wound healing was better in group A than group B, with statistical difference (P < 0.01). There was no significant difference in operation time between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusions Laparoscopic surgery has better effects for treatment of gynecological diseases than open abdominal surgery.
3.Cumulative damage effect of ~(32) P-colloidal chromic phosphate interstitial delivery on beagles

Objective To explore the possibility and safety of ~(32)P-colloidal chromic phosphate interstitial injection.Methods Ten Beagle dogs were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 2) according to different doses (185 and 370 MBq) ,different sites (gluteus maximus and liver) and cold colloid as a control group.At different time-points after surgery,the weights of dogs were measured,and the blood and blood biochemical inspections were examined.ECT imaging was performed and histomorphology was observed dynamically.The radioactive counts of body surface for 90 days,blood for 12 weeks and urine and feces for 30 days were measured continuously.Measured data were expressed by mean ±standard error ((x) ±s) and SPSS 13.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Results ECT imaging demonstrated that the whole liver imaging was obtained although the radioactive distribution was uneven in liver groups,and the radioactivity concentrated continuously in the area of injection,but no liver imaging in muscle groups.Dogs in group 4 lost weight progressively and reduced by 2.7 kg till 45 d after operation.While the mean weight increments in the other groups were 3.0,1.6,0.8 and 3.1 kg in order.In group 4,PLT and RBC reduced obviously.Dogs died at 23 or 45 d.AST and ALT were elevated sharply before death.In the other groups,blood and blood biochemistry inspection showed there were no significant statistical differences.The highest radioactive counts after operation were obtained from the injection spot,while the urinary bladder and the spleen were followed.The peak of blood cpm in liver groups presented at 5 min.Peak values were 0.5 × 10~7/min and 1.0 × 10~7/min,respectively.The blood cpm in the muscle groups was always maintained at 3 × l0~5/min.Histology study showed the hyperemia dropsy changes in muscle groups and 185 MBq liver group in 4 weeks,while after 8 weeks the organizational structure restored normally.There were partial liver cells necrosis in 4 weeks,and the massive liver cells balloon type changes in 6 weeks,as well as obvious hyperemia dropsy and the hepatic lobe structure unclear in 370 MBq liver group.For the radioactive counts of urine and excrement,the peak appeared at 13 and 12 d respectively,and the peak values were (42.0 ±3.3) × 10~4 and (29.6 ±4.5) ×10~4 /min in muscle groups,respectively ;while the peak appeared at 5 and 9 d,respectively and the peak values were (49.0 ± 10.2) × 10~4 and (28.5 ± 7.1) × 10~4 /min in liver groups,respectively.Cumulative excretion ratios in urine and excrement were 36.58% and 10.62% in muscle groups,respectively and 23.48% and 8.76% in liver groups till 30 d,respectively.The liver absorbed doses were 30.6 and 55.6 Gy in liver groups,while those were 2.3 and 6.5 Gy in muscle groups.The maximus absorbed doses of gluteus were 53.4 and 98.1 Gy in muscle groups.Conclusions When ~(32)P- colloidal chromic phosphate of 794.39 MBq/m~2 was injected into the liver of Beagle,the liver absorbed dose was 56 Gy,which could be lethal dose for its strong liver toxicity and systemic side effects.Injection of 463.98-772.93 MBq/m~2 in muscle of Beagle could be safe.~(32) P-colloidal chromic phosphate interstitial injection is secure to treat the solid tumors with poor and middle blood supply which could be reached by puncture.
4.Rapid automatized naming characteristics of school-age exotropia children

Objective:
To understand the characteristics of rapid naming in exotropia children, and to analyze the influence of clinical indicators related to exotropia on the rapid naming.
Methods:
A total of 45 exotropia children were recruited according to the diagnostic criteria of consensus of strabismus classification experts (2015) from the Zhongshan ophthalmic center as the case group, and 45 children of the same age, gender and parental educational status were recruited as the control group without any ocular diseases. All children were evaluated the ability of the rapid naming by classical rapid naming test.
Results:
The letter rapid naming time of children with exotropia was longer than that in control group [(26.87±10.18)(21.98±7.29)s], and the difference was statistically significant (t=2.73, P=0.01), however there was no significant correlation between strabismus degree, symptom duration, AC/A ratio, disease classification, simultaneous vision, the near stereopsis, the far stereopsis and the letter rapid naming in the clinical indicators of exotropia (r=-0.16, 0.23, 0.20, 0.06, 0.09, 0.05, 0.20, P>0.05).
Conclusion
Rapid naming might be impaired among children with exotropia, with no significant correlation between this defect and its clinical indicators.
5.Effects of sulfhydryl compounds on pancreatic cytoprotection in acute necrotic pancreatitis.

OBJECTIVETo observe sulfhydryl compound variation in the injury of pancreatic cells and the effects of external sulfhydryl compounds on cytoprotection.
METHODSMale Wistar mice were divided randomly into three groups: groups A and B served as animal models (retrograde duct infusion with 5% sodium taurocholate), in group A, 45 animals were treated with normal saline therapy, in group B, 45 animals were treated with Tiopronin therapy; and group C, 15 animals, were designated as normal control. Animals were killed at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 24 h, and pancreatic tissue was analyzed for total sulfhydryl (TSH), nonprotein sulfhydryl (NPSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA). Histopathology, serum amylase (Sam) and C reactive protein (CRP) were assessed as well.
RESULTSLevels of Sam and CRP increased in both group A and group B, with corresponding pathological changes of acute nerotic pancreatitis (ANP). Levels of TSH, NPSH and protein sulfhydryl (PSH) in group A decreased markedly during pancreatitis (P < 0.01), but MDA increased significantly (P < 0.01). The depletion of NPSH in group B was markedly ameliorated at 4 h or 6 h, when Tiopronin was prophylactically administered (P < 0.05), after which the level of MDA showed very little increase when compared to group A (P < 0.01). Histopathological damage was attenuated to a certain extent, in regards to serum amylase and CRP.
CONCLUSIONSAll sulfhydryl compounds decreased significantly during ANP; external sulfhydryl compound could protect the pancreatic cells most likely as a type of scavengers of oxygen free radicals, which are critically involved in the pathophysiology of ANP. Sulfhydryl plays an important role in the action of pancreatic cytoprotection.

6.Anxiety symptom and personality disorder among medical aesthetic clients

Objective:To describe the prevalence of anxiety symptom and personality disorder among medical aesthetic clients,and explore related factors of anxiety symptoms among them.Methods:Totally 788 clients who consulted in a cosmetic plastic surgery department were recruited in a tertiary hospital in Beijing from November 2021 to July 2023.Using the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4(PDQ-4)and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)as assessment instruments,with a cutoff point of 42 and 50 points respectively,for screening out personality disorder and anxiety symptom.Statistical analysis was conducted by analysis of variance,chi-square tests,multivari-ate linear regression and logistic regression.Results:The rate of anxiety symptom among the medical aesthetic cli-ents was of 15.23%(120/788),and the prevalence of personality disorder was 3.50%(28/788).Age was nega-tively associated with SAS scores(β=-0.82,P=0.009),PDQ-4 score was positively associated with SAS score(β=0.15,P<0.001),eye plastic surgery,facial contouring and minimally invasive plastic surgery were positively associated with SAS score(β=2.00-3.64,P<0.05).Conclusion:The younger and the more prominent the per-sonality dysfunction the clients are,the severer anxiety symptom they have.The clients who consult for eye plastic surgery,facial contouring,and minimally invasive plastic surgery have severer anxiety symptom.
7.Effect of construction orientation on the microstructure and properties of SLM Ti alloy clasps

Objective:
To investigate the physical properties of Ti-6Al-4V clasps generated by selective laser melting (SLM) with different construction directions and to compare these clasps with cast clasps, which could provide a basis for fabricating SLM clasps with high precision and excellent mechanical properties.
Methods:
Ti-6Al-4V clasps were fabricated by SLM at 0 degrees (SLM0 group), 45 degrees (SLM45 group) and 90 degrees (SLM90 group) (n = 12). Twelve clasps were cast by the casting method as the control group. Meanwhile, four metal abutments were cast randomly as the abutments of the four groups. X-ray was used to detect cracks in the clasps of each group. The roughness of the clasps was measured by confocal microscopy, the fitness tests between clasps and abutment were processed by stereomicroscopy, and the microstructure of clasps in each group was observed under a metallographic microscope to evaluate the physical properties.
Results :
There were 0-8 visible cracks in the casting group but no obvious defects in the SLM groups. The maximum surface roughness was observed in the cast group (18.102 ± 3.762) μm, while the minimum roughness was observed in the SLM90 group (5.942 ± 1.486) μm (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in surface roughness between the SLM0 group [(8.711 ± 2.378) μm] and the SLM45 group [(8.513 ± 1.161) μm]. Fitness was worst in the casting group [(68.445 ± 14.876) μm] and best in the SLM90 group [(33.417 ± 5.880) μm] (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in fitness between the SLM0 group [(52.917 ± 12.102) μm] and the SLM45 group [(50.889 ± 7.011) μm]. In addition, the growth direction of the β grains was roughly parallel to the build direction, and acicular α grains were present between β grains. SLM was composed of fine grains, while the cast group had large grains.
Conclusions
Specimens generated by SLM had finer grains than cast specimens. In addition, SLM90 clasps had the highest fitness and the lowest surface roughness.
