Background Full femtosecond laser refractive surgery has been generally applied, but the improvement of visual quality after surgery is a vital problem. It is well-known that modulation transfer function (MTF) is a major evaluation indicator. Objective To investigate the change of the MTF of operated eyes after the full femtosecond laser refractive surgery. Methods A retrospective series of cases study was adopted.Forty eyes of 23 patients with the spherical equivalent of-2.25 to-5.75 D who received full femtosecond laser refractive surgery were enrolled in Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command from July to October,2012.The change of visual acuities was analyzed and compared among before operation and 1 day,1 week and 1 month after operation.MTF value in total aberration, low and high order aberrations under the 3.0 mm and 6.0 mm pupil size conditions were detected with i-Trace Visual Function Analyzer at above time points. The MTF values among various time points, between different pupil diameters and different spatial frequencies (5,10,15,20,25 c/d) were compared respectively. Results Compared with the preoperation, the visual acuity improved in postoperative 1 day,1 week and 1 month, showing a significant improvement among various time points (F =10.341,P =0.000).Corrected diopter was 3.795 D at average.MTF values under the 3 mm pupil diameter gradually elevated with the lapse of time after operation, without significant differences among different time points whatever total aberration, low and high order aberrations(all at P>0.05).The MTF values under 6 mm pupil diameter of total aberration and low order aberration were significantly higher in postoperation than those in preoperation(all at P<0.05),but no significant difference was seen in MTF of high order aberration among various time points (F =0.260,P =0.854).Compared with the MTF under the 3 mm pupil diameter, those of low and high order aberrations under the 6 mm pupil diameter considerably declined in preoperation and postoperative 1 month (preoperation:P =0.050,0.001 ; postoperation:P =0.012,0.001).MTF values under the 3 mm pupil diameter were not different at various spatial frequencies (all at P> 0.05).However,MTF values under the 6 mm pupil diameter were gradually increased from preoperation through postoperative 1 month at 10,15,20 and 25 c/d (P =0.044,0.043,0.024,0.014).Conclusions Full femtosecond laser refractive surgery can eliminate low aberration, increase the MTF and acuity, and therefore improve the visual quality.MTF is one of the key indicators assessing visual quality after full femtosecond laser refractive surgery.

Two hundred and twenty-four patients with metabolic syndrome (MS) and 200 subjects as normal controls were included in this study.Genotyping of +276G/T,+45T/G SNPs in apM1 gene was made by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technique, and then the distribution and differences in genotypes and allele frequencies in the population were observed. It was found that the G/T polymorphism of +276 site was associated with MS,while +45 T/G polymorphism had nothing to do with MS.It is suggested that the +276G/T polymorphism may be a predisposing factor of MS.

Objective To evaluate the skills in using inhalers among the asthmatic patients who visited the out-patient clinic and whether or not the nursing intervention could further improve the efficacy of the drug delivery device. Methods 321 asthmatic patients who had visited the clinic and prescribed inhalers from April to December 2009 were investigated of the basic status, former medication history and skills in using metered dose inhaler (MDI) and dry powder inhaler (DPI). Nursing intervention had been carried out and the results were analyzed. Results Subjects belonging to different educational level groups were significantly different in mastering skills using MDI and DPI after reading instructions. There also existed significant difference between MDI and DPI users. Among patients who had already used inhalers, there was significant difference between subjects who had received instruction from medical personnel and subjects who had only read paper directions. Nursing intervention could significantly improve the skills in handling the device. Conclusions Proper skills in using inhalers could not be possessed just by reading paper directions. Instructions or even multimedia presentation from medical personnel are vital for asthmatic patients to master the skills in using MDI and DPI.

Objective To investigate enhancement appearance of hepatic focal nodular hyperplasia(FNH) at real-time gray-scale contrast enhanced ultrasonography(CEUS),and evaluate the value of CEUS in the diagnosis of FNH. Methods Thirty-four patients (36 lesions) with histologically proved FNH were examined by ultrasonography. Appearance on conventional ultrasonography and the enhancement pattern on CEUS were investigated. Results Thirty-six lesions were mostly hypoechoic.39% (14/36) of lesions had peripheral hypoechogenic circle. Color Doppler flow imaging showed a asteroid-like or spoke-and-wheel pattern in 65% (20/ 31) of lesions.Three enhancement patterns were observed in the early arterial phase: whole-enhancement pattern (28%, 10/36), gushing-spring enhancement pattern (44%, 16/36), and spoke-and-wheel enhancement pattern (28%,10/36).The frequency of central scar on CEUS was 17% (6/36), and detection rate of central scar by CEUS compared with pathology was 40% (6/15).Regarding one of the features (gushing-spring enhancement, spoke-and-wheel enhancement and scar) as standard of FNH, the coincidence of CEUS in this group was 78% (28/ 36) ,which was significantly higher than that of conventional ultrasonography 28% (10/36).Conclusions CEUS can be as a important method for diagnosing FNH.

Objective:To investigate the contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) features of inflammatory hepatocellular adenoma (I-HCA).Methods:The contrast-enhanced ultrasound features I-HCA of 28 cases from April 2009 to November 2019 in Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University were retrospectively analyzed, including arterial phase enhancement pattern, the homogeneity of enhancement, subcapsular enhancement, and the internal perfusion defect. All I-HCA lesions were divided into >5 cm group( n=9) and ≤5 cm group( n=19), the CEUS features between the two groups were compared. Results:All I-HCA lesions were hyper-enhanced in the arterial phase, among which 39.3% (11/28) showed diffuse filling, 39.3%(11/28) showed centripetal filling, and 21.4%(6/28) showed centrifugal filling pattern. Twenty-five percent (7/28) of I-HCAs showed heterogeneous enhancement, 10.7% (3/28) revealed unenhanced areas within the lesions. Subcapsular vessels were observed in 67.7 (21/31) of I-HCA lesions. Heterogeneous enhancement and unenhanced areas were more frequently detected in lesions >5 cm ( P=0.020, 0.026, respectively), while there was no difference in the enhancement pattern and subcapsular vessels between the two groups ( P>0.05). Inportal venous phase, 42.9%(12/28) of I-HCAs showed hypo-enhancement, and 57.1%(16/28) of lesions showed washout in late phase. According to "hyper-enhancement in arterial phase, sustained hyper- or iso-enhancement in portal venous and late phase" by CEUS, the diagnostic accuracy of benign lesion was 42.9%(12/28). According to any of hyper-enhancement pattern in arterial phase, subcapsular vascular enhancement, and sustained hyper- or iso-enhancement in portal venous and late phase, the diagnostic accuracy of I-HCA was 71.4% (20/28). Conclusions:CEUS is valuable in the diagnosis of inflammatory hepatocellular adenoma.

Chinese Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases 2018;36(3):174-178
Objective:
The effect and mechanism of cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs) on cytochrome P450 (CYP450) in the liver of rat were investigated.
Methods:
CdTe QDs (Ex 350 nm, Em 600 nm) were incubated with microsomes in final concentrations (0.5, 5, 50 μmol/L) using rat liver. And the content of CYP450 was determined by mixed incubation system as time (15, 30, 45 min) went on. Relationship also was detected between particle sizes (Em 620, 580, 540 nm; CdTe QDs-2, CdTe QDs-3, CdTe QDs-4) and expression of CYP450. Twenty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into exposed groups at various concentrations (0.25, 2.5 and 12.5 μmol/kg) of CdTe QDs via tail vein injection, the control group was injected with PBS.
Results:
In vitro, CdTe QDs(0.5, 5, 50 μmol/L) could significantly increase the content of CYP450 in rat liver microsomes(

Objective To compare the expression of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in tissue and fluid samples from patients with endometriosis, and investigate whether LIF and IL-6 regulate VEGF in human endometriotic stromal cells (ESC). Methods The levels of VEGF, LIF, IL-6 in serum, peritoneal fluid of patients with and without endometriosis were measured by ELISA. The mRNA of these three factors in the ectopic and eutopic endometrial tissue and stromal cells were measured by real-time PCR. ESC derived from ovarian endometriomas were cultured using the method of primary cell culture with LIF and IL-6, and the level of VEGF mRNA and protein were measured by the method of real-time PCR and ELISA respectively. Results VEGF and IL-6 concentration were 1.2 and 1.3 times higher in the serum of patients with endometriosis than in the control group [(94±19) versus (78±17) ng/L; (45±14) versus (35±9) ng/L; all P<0.05]. VEGF and IL-6 concentration were 1.2 and 1.4 times higher in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis than in the control group [(110±25) versus (91±21) ng/L; (69±20) versus (49±15) ng/L; all P<0.05]. VEGF and IL-6 concentrations in peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis were 1.2 and 1.5 times higher than in serum (all P<0.01). VEGF, LIF and IL-6 mRNA expression were 2.2, 8.6, 44.7 times higher in ESC compared with the matching eutopic endometrial stromal cells (all P<0.01). LIF and IL-6 mRNA were 2.0 and 64.8 times higher in ectopic endometrial tissue than the matching eutopic endometrial tissue (all P<0.05).ESC cultured with LIF, IL-6 and LIF+IL-6 induce VEGF protein secretion [(106±18), (124±30), (140±27) ng/L] by 1.3 , 1.5 and 1.7 times (all P<0.05). Conclusion Overexpression of LIF and IL-6 may synergistically contribute to upregulation of VEGF in ESC and promote development of endometriosis.
