Aim The pharmacodynamics and mechanism of Kadsura heteroclita on the Alzheimers disease (AD) model mice were studied. Methods The Kunming mice were treated with D-galactose and AlCl 3(90 d)to make the AD animal model. The therapy groups were treated with HS 2 (po, 40 d) respectively since d51. The Morris water-maze test, the expressions of PS1, BACE, as well as the pathological observation of the hippocampus and cerebral cortex were carried out to evaluate the effect of HS 2 on the AD model mice. Resluts By oral administration with HS 2, the capacity of learning and memory of the AD model mice was improved. HS 2 can downregulate the expression of PS1, BACE and decrease the amount of senile plaque in their brains. Conclusion HS 2 can meliorate AD model mice's learning and memory deficiency as well as decrease the mRNA content of PS1, BACE and senile plaque in their brains.

AIM: To investigate the inhibitory effect of TanshinoneⅡA on U251 glioma cell line and its mechanism. METHODS: MTT was used to measure the levels of the proliferation in U251 cultured with TanshinoneⅡA at different concentrations. The effects of TanshinoneⅡA on cell cycle of U251 were observed by FCM. The expression of proto-oncogene c-myc was measured by RT-PCR. RESULTS: The proliferation of U251 was obviously inhibited by TanshinoneⅡA in a dose dependent manner. The inhibitory rate came to the peak at (54 2?0 9)%, when cultured with TanshinoneⅡA at 0 10 g/L. The outcome of FCM showed that the proportion of G 0/G 1 phase cells was increased and the proportion of S phase cells was reduced obviously, when cultured with TanshinoneⅡA at 0 10 g/L for 3 days. The RT-PCR experiment showed that the expression of proto-oncogene c-myc was notably decreased, when the dose of TanshinoneⅡA was increased. CONCLUSION: TanshinoneⅡA inhibited the proliferation of U251 and the expression of proto-oncogene c-myc.

Objective Ti explire the periiperative cimplicatiins and nursing ciuntermea-sures in elderly patients with hip replacement. Methods The periiperative cimplicatiins,han-dling methid and nursing ciuntermeasures if 150 senile patients with hip replacement were retri-spectively analyzed. Results In all patients, there were 12 patients with varying degrees if liwer bliid pressure because if bine cement reactiin,15 patients with delirium,13 patients with thrim-bisis if deep vein,2 patients with pulminary embilism,3 patients with dislicatiin if hip jiint. After timely and effective nursing, there were 1 patient with pulminary embilism and 1 dead pa-tient caused by dislicatiin if hip jiint, and the ithers were all healed. Conclusions Predictive preventiin frim the periiperative cimplicatiins with priper nursing ciuntermeasures can help se-nile patients ti get thriugh periiperative periid, prevent pistiperative cimplicatiin and ti imprive the clinical curative rate.

OBJECTIVETo assess the feasibility and outcome of orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) with no veno-venous bypass (VVB) in adult patients.
METHODSBetween 1999 and June 2001, 43 adult patients were subjected to orthotopic liver transplantations with veno-venous bypass (28), or no veno-venous bypass (15).
RESULTSThere was no significant difference in mean serum creatinine on day 3 and gas discharge time in patients with veno-venous bypass or not. With no veno-venous bypass, the average operative time was 5.6 +/- 1.4 h, median amount of blood loss during operation was 4 200 +/- 850 ml, median amount of blood transfused intraoperatively was 4 800 +/- 920 ml, and median intensive care unit stay was 6.3 days. All these were lower or shorter than those of the patients with veno-venous bypass.
CONCLUSIONSOrthotopic liver transplantation with no veno-venous bypass is safe and can be performed in the majority of adult patients. Liver transplantation with no veno-venous bypass is associated with shorter total operating time, lower blood product usage, and shorter intensive care unit stay compared with standard technique of OLT with routine use of VVB.
