A reasonable method for the quality control of tablets of Ginkgo biloba leaves was established in this paper. The total flavonol glycosides and terpene lactones of G. biloba tablets were quantified by HPLC. Totally, 16 batches of the commercially available tablets of G. biloba leaves were determined. Among of them, 2 batches were unqualified in the content of total flavonol glycosides, and 3 batches were unqualified in the content of terpene lactones. A validated HPLC fingerprint method was established to evaluate the commercially available tablets of G. biloba leaves with the assistance of LC-MS. Sixteen batches showed the similarity of 0.763-0.989. There were 31 fingerprint chromatogram peaks were identified as flavonoids compositions by LC-MS. This provides a research idea for the quality control of tablets of G. biloba leaves.

Purpose:
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an interactive virtual reality (VR) play intervention including instructional play and emotional catharsis play sessions in reducing children's pain and fear during intravenous placement.
Methods:
A randomized controlled trial with parallel groups was conducted. The sample consisted of 134 hospitalized children aged 6–12 years (intervention group: n = 69; comparison group: n = 65). The intervention involved one immersive intravenous scene in VR before the actual intravenous placement and one emotional catharsis VR play after injection. The comparison group received an educational photo book about intravenous placement before receiving intravenous placement. The children and their caregivers rated their pain and fear by using the Wong–Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale and the Children's Fear Scale. The time required for successful intravenous insertion was also compared between the two groups.
Results:
Children's pain (p = .028) and fear scores (p = .004) were significantly lower in the intervention group than in the comparison group. Their caregivers' pain and fear scores (both p < .001) were significantly lower in the intervention group. The time required for successful intravenous insertion did not differ significantly between the intervention and comparison groups.
Conclusions
The interactive play intervention with VR effectively reduced children's levels of pain and fear during the intravenous placement procedure. The results of this study can serve as a reference for the implementation of a feasible, child-friendly care practice for clinical intravenous placement in school-aged children.

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the effect of bilateral atlantoaxial lamina hook and atlantoaxial joint space screw combined with autologous iliac bone graft on atlantoaxial dislocation caused by acute type I transverse ligament injury in school-age children.
METHODS:
From February 2006 to February 2019, 8 school-age children with atlantoaxial dislocation caused by acute type I transverse ligament injury were systematically reviewed, including 6 males and 2 females; aged 9 to 12 years old; 8 acute injuries included 4 high-level falls, 2 car accidents and 2 sports injuries; the atlantoaxial interval(ADI) was 5 to 8 mm. Eight cases presented with pain, stiffness, numbness and cervical spine dysfunction in different degrees. Two of them were accompanied by nerve compression and ASIA grade D. The preoperative C₁,₂ angle averaged 20.7° to 23.4°. All patients received cranial traction and surgical treatment after complete reduction or atlantoaxial reduction. The changes of Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA) score, space available for the cord(SAC), neck disability index(NDI), ADI, ASIA classification(ASIA) injury classification(1992) and C₁,₂ angle before and after treatment were observed.
RESULTS:
The average follow-up time was 8 to 156 months. Clinical and radiological follow-up showed that the atlantoaxial joint was completely relieved, the reduction was satisfactory and the arthrodesis was stable. Nerve and vascular injuries associated with this technique were not observed. JOA score, SAC, NDI, C₁,₂ angle of the last follow-up of the children were significantly improved. Two children of ASIA grade D recovered to grade E.
CONCLUSIONS
Bilateral atlantoaxial lamina hook and atlantoaxial joint space screw combined with autologous iliac bone graft is simple, less bleeding, strong stability and high fusion rate. It is an ideal surgical procedure for acute type I transverse ligament injury with atlantoaxial dislocation in school-age children.

Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2009;44(3):177-181
Objective To investigate the genetic etiologies in the 0 -3 years old infants with hearing loss and to analyze the interaction between genetics and environmental factors. Methods Total of 130 infants were performed detailed audiological evaluation as well as the detection of the popular deafness gene mutations in GJB2 gene, SLC26A4 and mtDNAI2SrRNA. Of them, 84 cases were performed the computer tomography or magnetic resonance imaging examinations. Results Of the 130 cases, 54 infants were diagnosed as large vestibular aqueduct syndrome, while seven of 130 were as auditory neuropathy and the others were diagnosed as sensorineural hearing loss. Considering of the risks of etiologies for hearing loss, 85 of them had the experiences of the high risk factors at birth(65.4% ,85/130), while 23 of them had the exposure of aminoglycoside antibiotics, and 13 had the family history background as well as two eases were from the consanguineous families. In the causative genes screening, 42 infants were caused by the mutations of SLC26A4 gene (32.3%), but 14 infants found the mutations in GJB2 gene (4.6%), and no infants carried the mutation in mtDNA 12SrRNA 1555G and 1494T points in our studies. Conclusions In our studies, about 36. 9% infants hearing loss cases can be found the mutations in SLC26A4 and GJB2 genes. It is essential to put the idea into the hearing evaluation combined with genetic testing for the diagnoses of heating loss. It is also helpful for exploring the etiologies of hearing loss and performing the target genetic consulting for decreasing the prevalence of deafness in the future.

Objective To investigate the effective treatments of combined injury with craniocerebral firearm wound in dogs immersed by seawater under maritime environment. Methods Models of combined injury with craniocerebral firearm wound, including craniocerebral gunshot wound, open chest injury, open abdominal injury, open trauma of extremities and burn injury, were established in 60 healthy adult mongrel dogs. Animal models after being wounded were immersed by the seawater for 30 min, and then, they were equally randomized into conventional treatment group and comprehensive treatment group; 30 dogs in the conventional treatment group were given routine treatment and the other 30 dogs in the comprehensive treatment group were given lukewarm glucose liquid, β-aescin, naloxone hydrochloride, levofloxacin and re-warming treatments besides the conventional treatment. Transcranial Doppler ultrasound, blood gas analysis, measurement of plasma osmotic pressure and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring were performed on the dogs of the 2 groups; and the treatment efficacy of the 2groups were compared. Results Low incidence rate of brain vasospasm was noted and TCD indicated that blood flow speed approached normal in the comprehensive treatment group 3 h after the treatment. The plasma osmotic pressure and the indicators of metabolic acidosis reached normal levels in the comprehensive treatment group 12 h after the treatment. The ICP significantly decreased in the comprehensive treatment group 24 h after the treatment. Survival rate in the comprehensive treatment group (70%) was significantly higher as compared with that in the conventional treatment group (53%)7 d after the treatment (P<0.05). All the indexes in the comprehensive treatment group were better than those in the conventional treatment group (P<0.05) Conclusion Early infusion of lukewarm hypotonic solution can significantly reduce the osmotic pressure, correct the electrolyte balance, help the re-warming and prolong the survival rate. Naloxone possesses protective effect on brain. The β-aescine sodium can diminish viscosity, slow down brain edema progress, obviously reduce ICP and improve brain tissue oxygen metabolism. In a word, comprehensive treatment in effective in treating combined injury with craniocerebral firearm wound.
