BACKGROUND:The blood supply is essential for the repair of the meniscus after the suture of it in the injured knee joint. According to the condition of blood supply, the meniscus was divided into three zones by Arnoczk in 1982. The absolute vascularization zone, in which the distance to the combination part of meniscus and synovial membrane is inferior to 3mm, is called the red zone. The absolute devascularization zone, in which the above-mentioned distance is superior to 5 mm, is called the white zone. And the relative vascularization zone with the distance between 3 mm to 5mm is called red-white zone.OBJECTIVE: To observe and discuss the anatomical features of the blood supplyof the meniscus.DESIGN:Single sample observation.SETTING:Department of Orthopaedics, Huaxi Hospital of Sichuan University.PARTICIPANTS: The study was conducted in Huaxi Hospital of Sichuan University during the period from September 2000 to March 2001.Nineteen cases were collected, including 19 knees (38 menisci) from the subjects, 17 male and 2 female, whose age varied from 21 to 43 years old.All the samples were obtained in the amputation operation, the isolated limbs were without the change of re-transplantation and the voluntary donations from the non-minorities living in Sichuan.meniscus samples: 7 knees (14 menisci) were taken. After the femoral artery intubation and infusion of the heparinized normal saline, the vascular bed had no blood and then was infused with the normal saline and ink of 0.5 volume fraction and the infusion pressure was 13 kPa. The infused meniscus samples underwent the dehydration of gradient ethanol, the transparency of dimethylbenzene, and preservation with ilex pedunculosa, and then the blood supply of the menisci was observed and distribution of the meniscus section: 6 knees (12 menisci) with fresh and uninfused menisci were taken. The sections obtained at the sagittal plane, the coronal plane and the horizontal plane underwent hematoxylin-eosin staining. Then the tissues structure and blood supply of the meniscus samples were observed with light microscope. Another 6 knees (12meniscus) underwent the specific CD34 antibody immunohistochemical staining. Then the tissue structure and blood supply distribution of the meniscus samples were observed with the light microscope.in the devascularization zone of the meniscus.RESULTS: Nineteen cases with 38 menisci all went into the final result resourced from the medial and lateral genicular arteries and the middle genicular artery. The small vessels from them form the peripheral capillary vessel plexus and annular vessel meshwork in the synovium and joint capsule and then go into the menisci for the nutrition of the lateral The apparent lunar artery is sent by the vessel plexus around the meniscus into the body of the meniscus and arranges in the inferior, middle and superior layers and dominates 25%-30% of the zone around The vessels of the angular part of the semilunar plate cover the whole meniscus. The nutrition is supplied by the membranous synovium on the surface of the meniscus.Rich blood supply was observed in the anterior and posterior angular laminated blood supply in the body of the meniscus was newly devascularization zone of the meniscus is supplied from the joint synovial fluid is explicit.

OBJECTIVETo study the anatomic mechanism of tear trough deformity and palabromalar groove deformity.
METHODSSix cadavers (12 sides, 3 male, 3 female, an average age of 67.2 years) with tear trough deformity and palpbromalar groove deformity underwent lower eyelid and periorbital area dissection.
RESULTSTear trough deformity and palabromalar groove deformity locate at the junction of thin eyelid skin and thick cheek skin. Skin is closely attached to the orbicularis oculi muscle. The superior horder of the malar fat pad covers the junction of the palpebral and orbital portions of the orbicularis muscle, and does not descend with malar fat pad, which is also corresponded to the location of tear trough and palphromalar groove. The gap between the orbicularis oculi muscle and the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi muscle is not correspond to tear trough. The orbicularis retaining ligament arises from the orbital rim and ends at the junction of the palpebral and orbital portions of the orbicularis muscle, and the ligament connects with the deep part of the orbicularis muscle which directly attaches to the infraorbital rim. Suborbicular oculi fat pads locate at the inferolateral of the orbital region, thin and flabby. Orbital septal arises from the infraorbital rim, and the orbital fat extrudes anteriorly and inferiorly.
CONCLUSIONSTear trough deformity and palabromalar groove deformity are resulted from combination of age-related relaxation, atrophy and ptosis of layers of tissues. The orbital septal and the orbicularis retaining ligament prevent tissues from descending, which makes tear trough deformity and palabromalar groove deformity more visible.

7.Role of signaling pathways and miRNAs in chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Chinese Medical Journal 2013;126(21):4175-4182
OBJECTIVETo summarize the recent findings of dysregulation of signaling pathways and miRNAs in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
DATA SOURCESWe searched PubMed database with the keywords "chronic lymphocytic leukemia", "signal pathway", or "miRNA" for relevant articles in recent years.
STUDY SELECTIONResearch articles and reviews about signaling pathways and miRNAs in CLL were chosen for review.
RESULTSDysregulation of signaling pathways, such as B cell receptor , toll-like receptor, PI3K, nuclear factor κB, notch signaling pathway, Wnt/Fzd signaling pathway, and Hedgehog and Janus kinases/signal transducers and activators of transcription signaling pathway, as the terminal events of the aberrant gene expression and the pro-survival effects of microenvironment, plays a crucial role in the process of CLL. miRNAs, a novel found noncoding RNA, which regulate gene expression at transcription or post-transcription level and correlate with pathogenesis of CLL provide us new avenues to better evaluating prognosis and therapy of it.
CONCLUSIONFurther investigation of the dysregulation of signaling pathways and miRNAs and their relationship may provide us a new prospective to understand the pathogenesis of CLL and may provide us new strategies to resolve the clinical nodi in treatment of CLL.

Objective To investigate the effects of heat-killed Staphylococcus aureus (HKSA) on the apoptosis and expression of iNOS and IL-1β in THP-1 monocytes in the presence of high concentration of glucose. Methods THP-1 cells were cultured in medium containing 25.0 mmol/L(HG) or 5.5 mmol/L (LG,control) D-glucose for 12 h-8 d.The THP-1 cells cultured for 6 d were extracted on the 0-48 h with or without HKSA,then apoptosis and expression of iNOS and IL-1β were examined.Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry and expressions of IL-1β and iNOS were quantitated by real-time PCR.Results The expression of iNOS and IL-1β in THP-1 monocytes was increased significantly in the presence of high concentration of glucose for 12-48 h(P<0.05),reaching the highest level at 24 h and returned to baseline after 4 d.The expression was significantly lower than that of control after 4-6 d.Apoptosis rate was also increased significantly after 48 h to 4 days.HKSA infection enhanced apoptosis, but inhibited the expression of iNOS and IL-1 β in the presence of high concentration of glucose. The expression of iNOS and IL-1β increased significantly at 6 h(P<0.01),reaching the highest level at 12 h,but the levels were significantly lower than those in control groups (P<0.05).Conclusion These data suggest that high concentration of glucose can interfere with the anti-bacterial function of monocytes by reducing their expression of iNOS and IL-1β and enhancing their apoptosis.
