Objective To evaluate the clinical impact of 18F-FDG PET/CT on patients with suspected cervical cancer recurrence. Methods Fifty-one cervical cancer patients, clinically suspected to have tumor recurrence during follow-up, underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT examination. 18 F-FDG PET/CT results were compared with those of conventional images, as referred to histopathology or clinical follow-up. Impacts of 18F-FDG PET/CT were evaluated based on documented changes of clinical management. Results In total, 43 patients were found to have positive lesions by 18F-FDG PET/CT, in which 40 were true recurrence, but 2 were pelvic abscess and 1 was radiation enterocolitis. Other 8 patients were found negative by 18F-FDG PET/CT and confirmed by pathology or follow-up. In patient-based analyses, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 18F-FDG PET/CT for the detection of tumor recurrence were 100% (40/40), 72. 73% (8/11),and 94.12% (48/51) respectively. In 7 patients, the clinical management was changed due to 18F-FDG PET/CT findings. Conclusion 18F-FDG PET/CT is an efficient tool for determining the recurrence of cervical cancer and instructing the clinical management.

To obtain the recombinant pZP3alpha protein for the study of the contraceptive vaccines, the DNA sequence (446-1423) encoding purified pZP3alpha was inserted into a vector--pPICZalphaA. The recombinant plasmid pPICZalphaA-pZP3alpha was linearized and then transformed into Pichia pastoris GS115 by electroporation. Engineering strains were attained by screening with zeocin and induced to produce rpZP3alpha in high-density fermentation. Then rpZP3alpha was purified by Cu2+ metal affinity column chromatography from the separated and concentrated fermentative supernatants. The purified rpZP3alpha was identified by SDS-PAGE and Western blot, and the quantity, purity and rate of recovery of the rpZP3alpha were analyzed by Quantity One software. One male rabbit was immunized with the Cu-NTA-purified rpZP3alpha. The antibody responses against rpZP3alpha and porcine ZP were detected by ELISA and the indirect immunofluorescence. Engineering strains expressing rpZP3alpha in secretion were constructed. A 46kD component named rpZP3alpha which can react with anti-pZP3 antibody was purified from fermentative supernatants of engineering strains and the average yield of purified rpZP3alpha obtained from fermentative supernatants was 8mg/L. The purity and the rate of recovery were up to 92% and 63% respectively. The anti-rpZP3alpha antiserum was prepared by immunization of a male rabbit with purified rpZP3alpha. This anti-rpZP3alpha antiserum could react with rpZP3alpha and purified pZP3 in ELISA and bind to porcine zona pellucida which produced bright green fluorescence in the indirect immunofluorescence. The rpZP3alpha (46kD) protein could be successfully expressed in the Pichia pastoris expression system. And this protein retained the immunogenic activity of natural pZP3.

In May 2015, a child with absence of most of the five fingers with scar formation after healing of a left hand burn wound hospitalized in our burn ward. According to the free online design program for making artificial limbs using three-dimensional printing technology on the internet, a utility artificial hand, most of which made of plastic parts, was designed for the child and printed by a three-dimensional printer. The child was instructed to wear and use the utility artificial hand, including driving the finger part of the utility artificial hand to make a grasping action by flexing the wrist joint. On the first day of using the utility artificial hand, the time the right hand and the utility artificial hand took to finish the Nine-Hole Peg Test (NHPT) was 24 and 325 s, respectively. After training, the child could grab some light and rough objects. After 3 months of follow-up, the child could use the utility artificial hand to cooperate with the upper limb of the healthy side to make the movements of picking up the basketball and keeping the balance of body on the bicycle. The time the right hand and the utility artificial hand took to finish NHPT was 21 and 193 s, respectively. The time the utility artificial hand took increased by 40.6% compared with the initial period. By assembling the three-dimensionally printed utility artificial hand, the partial appearance image of the child was restored, and some of the hand functions were compensated, which improved the self-care ability of the child in daily life and was beneficial to his physical and mental development.

At present, the modernization of Chinese medicine preparations (CMPs) is still a challenging task. The 3 typical Chinese medicine materials (CMMs) used for preparing CMPs are the powders, extracts, and components of Chinese medicine and their properties of CMMs are important for designing CMPs. Basing on our long term research, we have established a property system for CMMs according to the state of CMMs under an exactly condition and according to the interaction characteristics between substances. The property system could be divided into 5 categories: material composition, spatial structure, body property, surface property, physicochemical properties, and they could also be divided into 18 subcategories. Furthermore, we also established the corresponding index and characterization system, where the 61 indexes and characterization techniques were systematically summarized. At last, we hope that the article will promote the modernization of CMPs.

OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical significance of postoperative personalized antithrombotic therapy for patients with hemophilic arthritis (HA) patients after arthroplasty.
METHODSFrom September 2005 to October 2013, 11 cases of arthroplasty for hemophilic arthritis in hip and knee total operation 14 times, including 1 case of double knees (calculated as one operation), operation in left knees 6 times, operation in right knees 5 times, 2 in hip. All the patients were male and the age ranged from 23 to 57 years old, with an average of (36.1 ± 11.0) years old; the average weight was (64.1 ± 8.9) kg. All the patients were preoperatively diagnosed and classified as hemophilic arthritis with the radiological images and laboratory tests. According to the function of joints, the risk of postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE), and dynamic observation of Factor VIII:C (FVIII:C) activity, patients were treated with personalized antithrombus by adjusting the dosage of recombinant human coagulation factor VIII (Kogenate FS). All the patients were orderly divided into postoperatively distal joints moving group and none-moving group to observe the coagulation function.
RESULTSThe enrolled patients had no postoperative complication of VTE and pulmonary embolism (PE). The APTT and D-2 were different between two groups in the postoperative early stage. Length of hospital day was shorter in the moving group than none-moving group.
CONCLUSIONBecause of the self-coagulation disorder, patients with HA tended to bleed. However it doesn't mean that there is no risk of postoperative thrombosis. Therefore,it's important to determine how to control the balance between postoperative antithrombus, hemostasis, and coagulation factor replacement therapy after arthroplasty for HA. Postoperative moving has proved helpful for HA, especially in reducing the risk of hemostasis and shortening the time in hospital.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship of leptin gene polymorphism with obesity in ethnic minority Hui and Uygur children in China.
METHODSSixty-eight ethnic minority (35 Hui and 33 Uygur) children with obesity and 69 age-matched minority (36 Hui and 33 Uygur) children without obesity were recruited from six primary schools in the sub-urban areas of Urumqi. Venous blood was sampled from all subjects after fasting for 12 hours. Leptin gene C2549A polymorphism was determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism methods. Blood concentrations of lipids, leptin and insulin were measured with biochemical methods and radioimmunoassys, respectively.
RESULTSIn the 137 children tested, the prevalence of AA, AC and CC genotype was 9.5%, 33.6% and 56.9%, respectively. A allele frequency was significantly different between the two ethnic (i.e. Hui and Uygur) groups (P<0.05). A allele frequency and AA+ AC genotype frequency were not significantly different between obese and non-obese children in both ethnic groups (P>0.05). Blood leptin levels were not significantly different between obese and non-obese children with an AA+AC or CC genotype in both ethnic groups (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONSLeptin gene polymorphisms exist in Hui and Uygur children. The C2549A polymorphism is not significantly associated with the prevalence of obesity in both Hui and Uygur children.

Protein & Cell 2011;2(9):764-771
Correlated firings among neurons have been extensively investigated; however, previous studies on retinal ganglion cell (RGC) population activities were mainly based on analyzing the correlated activities between the entire spike trains. In the present study, the correlation properties were explored based on burst-like activities and solitary spikes separately. The results indicate that: (1) burst-like activities were more correlated with other neurons' activities; (2) burst-like spikes correlated with their neighboring neurons represented a smaller receptive field than that of correlated solitary spikes. These results suggest that correlated burst-like spikes should be more efficient in signal transmission, and could encode more detailed spatial information.

OBJECTIVETo compare the difference of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) levels in the urban air and the scores of Neonatal Behavioral Neurological Assessment (NBNA) between Taiyuan and Changzhi cities and to explore the effects of PAHs in the urban air during pregnancy on neonatal behavioral neurological development.
METHODSHigh-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with subsequent fluorescence detection was used to determine the PAHs levels in the cooperational hospitals in Changzhi and Taiyuan cities and the urinary 1-hydroxypyrene levels of the 297 pregnant women living Changzhi and Taiyuan cities during Nov. 2009 to May 2010. NBNA was used to determine the development of neonatal neural behavior. The differences of PAHs levels in the urban air, the pregnant women urinary 1-hydroxypyrene levels and NBNA scores between Taiyuan and Changzhi were compared.
RESULTSThere are significant differences of levels of pyrene, benz [a] anthracene, Chrysene, benz [a] pyrene, dibenz [a, h] anthracene in the urban air between Taiyuan and Changzhi (P < 0.10). The median of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene levels in pregnant women of Taiyuan was 1.140 microg/mmolCr, (P25 was 0.457 microg/mmolCr, P75 was 2.678 microg/mmolCr), the median of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene levels in pregnant women of Changzhi was 0.761 microg/mmolCr, (P25 was 0.133 microg/mmolCr, P75 was 2.095 microg/mmolCr). There are significant differences of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene levels in pregnant women between Taiyuan and Changzhi (t = -3.140, P = 0.002). There are significant differences of the NBNA scores, capacity scores, passive muscle tension scores, active muscle tension scores and general assessment scores between Taiyuan and Changzhi (P < 0.10). There was correlation between NBNA scores and urinary 1-hydroxypyrene level in pregnant women.
