1.Study of protective effect and mechanism for baicalin on bacillus pertussis infected brain tissue and its dose-effect relationship.

OBJECTIVETo study the possible mechanism of protective effect for Baicalin on Bacillus pertussis (BP) infected brain tissue and the dose-effect relationship.
METHODSBrain tissues slices were divided into 7 groups: (1) the normal group; (2) the model group: infected by 10% BP; (3) the baicalin group, which was pretreated with baicalin, infected by BP and subdivided into 5 sub-groups according to different doses of baicalin used; (4) the glutamic acid group: cultured with glutamic acid; (5) the baicalin plus glutamic acid group; (6) the peroxide group: cultured with hydrogen peroxide; and (7) the baicalin plus peroxide group. The lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) content in the supernatant of culture was determined and quantitative protein determination was conducted.
RESULTSThe LDH releasing was higher in the model group, glutamic acid group and peroxide group as compared with that in the normal group, 15.10 +/- 4.89 u/g. protein (the same unit below), 15.49 +/- 5.66 and 16.54 +/- 5.47 vs 6.10 +/- 2.87 respectively (P < 0.01). After being pretreated with 0.25 mmol/L baicalin, LDH level decreased significantly to 8.65 +/- 2.43, which was significantly different from that in the model group (P < 0.01), LDH was also decreased in the baicalin plus glutamic acid group (9.93 +/- 2.89) and baicalin plus peroxide group (9.54 +/- 2.82), which was significantly lower than that in the glutamic acid group and the peroxide group respectively (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONPretreatment of baicalin has protective effect on BP caused nerve cell injury in rat brain slices, the protection is possibly related with the reduction of glutamic acid and hydrogen peroxide induced damage on nerve cells in vitro.

2.Clinical study on the effect of continuous pulmonary artery perfusion with wxygenated warm blood containing L-arginine on lung injury during cardiopulmonary bypass

Objective To evaluate the protective effect on lung by using continuous pulmonary artery perfusion with oxygenated blood and L-arginine during cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB).Methods Forty five cases received mitral valve replacement were randomly divided into 3 groups and each group involved 15 cases. Group I(control group), patients received routine procedure of CPB. Proup Ⅱ, patients received rcontinuous pulmonary artery perfusion with oxygenated blood. Group Ⅲ,continuous pulmonary artery perfusion with oxygenated blood containing L-arginine (200 mg/kg) (n=15). All cases received routine procedure of CPB and continuously infused from the root of pulmonary artery until releasing aortaoaic clamp. Blood samples were collected from the radial artery respectively at the following time points:after the induction of anaesthesia, 1 hour after opening of aorta, 0, 6, 12, 24 hours after patients being taken back to ICU. ELISA test was used to detected the expression of tmmor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-10 (IL-10). Lung tissue samples (1.0 cm ×1.0 cm×1.0 cm) were obtained from right lower lobe. The pathologicl changes of lung tissues were observed under light mi-croscope by using HE staining. Results at each time points, the expression of TNF-α, IL-6 in group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ weresignificantly lower than that in group Ⅰ (P<0.05). The level of TNF-α, IL-6 in group Ⅲ were lower than in group Ⅱ(P<0.05). However, the expression of IL-10 in group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ were higher than in group Ⅰ, and the level of IL-10 in group Ⅲ were higher than that in group Ⅱ(P<0.05). In the group Ⅰ: HE staining showed marked pulmonary interstitial edema, intra-alveolus neutrophilic granulocyte exudation with karyorrhexis. In the group Ⅱ, light capillary vessel hyperaemia and pulmonary interstitial lymphocyte exudation were detected. Nearly normal lung tissue were observed in group Ⅲ. Conclusion Continuous pulmonary artery perfusion with oxygenated blood and L-arginine could inhibit the synthesis of inflammatory factors significantly and increase the releasing of anti-inflammatory factors during CPB. Therefore, it may reduces pulmonary inflammatory reaction and have protective effects on lung tissue.

4.Investigation about the postoperative rehabilitation and the health knowledge of patients with arteriosclerosis obliterans in lower extremity

Objective To investigate the condition of exercise, medicine compliance and the rehabilitation of patients with arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO) in lower extremity after the surgery, and also to study the influence of self-efficiency and social support to their rehabilitation. Methods The questionnaire survey was performed in 102 patients who had surgical or interventional therapy of arteriosclerosis obliterans in the lower extremity in our hospital, investigated the general information of the patients, their knowledge of postoperative rehabilitation, medicine compliance, exercise condition, general self-efficiency and social support. Results The postoperative time for the patients with arteriosclerosis obliterans was 2 to 22months, the knowledge rate for postoperative rehabilitation was 7.8%-46.1%.The Morisky score for the patients of taking medicine for the treatment of vascular disease was 2.0,and there was only 6 patients(5.9%)with good medicine compliance. There were 22 patients(21.0%) had completed the ambulation training according to the guidelines, and there were 25 patients(24.5%) had completed the Buerger training. The self-efficiency score of the patients was 2.78 ± 0.76, and the gross score of social support was 32.38 ± 7.89. Spearman correlation analysis shows that the Morisky score for the patients of taking medicine for the treatment of vascular disease was in positive correlation with self-efficiency (r=0.289, P=0.003), but in negative correlation with social support (r=–0.286, P=0.006). Conclusions Most of the patients with arteriosclerosis obliterans have poor medicine compliance, and do not do exercise as required by the guidelines. Patients with high self-efficiency demonstrates medicine noncompliance, however the enhancement of social support will help patients improve their medicine compliance.

The total effect of Chinese medicine pair (CMP) was not the simply addition of two single herbs, but the interaction of their different components. Therefore, the research on the bio-active components of CMP is the basis of CMP compatibility study, and has important significance for revealing the compatibility effect and action mechanism, and creating traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) new drugs. This paper summed up the latest research progress of CMP on the basis of the bio-active components variation regularity of CMP from chemical solutions and content changes in vitro and the actions of CMP on bodies in vivo, in order to further drive the modern basic and applied research of CMP, and to reveal the scientific essence of CMP compatibility.

6.Analysis of a random telephone survey result of knowledge in prevention and treatment of iodine deficiency disorders in urban communities of Jiangsu province in 2010

Objective To provide updated recommendations for further adjustment of iodine deficiency disorders control strategy by evaluating awareness of the dangers of iodine deficiency disorders and their prevention and control measures among local residents and the willingness of choosing iodized or non-iodized salt in urban communities of Jiangsu province.Methods Trained health service workers did questionnaire investigation on iodine deficiency disorders prevention knowledge by calling computer-randomly selected family telephone numbers in every two blocks of provincial capital (Nanjing) and coastal city (Nantong) in Jiangsu province in 2010.The survey topics covered include:when supplied with both non-iodized and iodized salt,what kind of salt the local residents chose and the reasons; residents awareness of the dangers of iodine deficiency disorders and their prevention and control measures; resident's personal information(including only occupational category and age group).Key fields were rechecked from 10% randomly selected valid questionnaires.Results Four hundred and fifty-five valid questionnaires were obtained by calling 2021 randomized telephone numbers in Nanjing and Nantong cities.After 10.1%(46/455) of the valid questionnaires were rechecked,the total coincidence rate was 87.0%(40/46).In the two cities,there were 73.2% (333/455) of those 455 respondents saying they would choose iodized salt when iodized and non-iodized salt were supplied at the same time.There were 69.0%(314/455) of respondents had heard of iodine deficiency disorders,of which 79.6%(250/314) of them were aware of the dangers of iodine deficiency is endemic goiter,and 10.8% (34/314) of them knew that iodine deficiency can cause varying degrees of mental damage.With respect to useful preventive methods of iodine deficiency disorders,there were 69.4% (218/314) respondents know that eating iodized salt,and 41.1% (129/314) respondents know that taking laver or kelp would prevent iodine deficiency disorders.Conclusions Remarkable achievements on iodine deficiency disorders health promotion and health education have been gained in urban communities of both the provincial capital and the coastal city Jiangsu province.However,some of the people are still not very clear why we should eat iodized salt.Salt industry in the current management system,is still premature to provide iodized salt and non-iodized salt simultaneously now.
7.The research on integrity and standardization of structured MRI report for rectal cancer

Objective To assess the integrity and standardization of structured MRI report for rectal cancer of the affiliated hospital of qingdao university,referring to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines for colorectal cancer (Version 2015)and foreign authoritative research results,and put forward some suggestions to improve the quality.Methods A total of 110 structured MRI reports of 107 patients with rectal cancer were included in the study.The inclusion rates of 8 indexes were evaluated,including tumor site,distance from upper to lower border of tumor (DIS),tumor invasive depth (T staging),anal complex staging (A staging),nodal staging (N staging),the circumferential resection margin (CRM),extramural vascular invasion (EMVI) and metastases staging (M staging),which were compared with research results of structured reports in abroad by using Pearson chi-square test.Results There was a significant difference in the description of N staging (x2 =8.424,P<0.05) between our research and foreign study,in 110 structured MRI reports.There was no significant difference in the description of tumor site (x2 =0.00,P>0.05),DIS (x2 =0.041,P >0.05),T staging (x2 =3.256,P>0.05) and CRM(x2 =2.957,P>0.05) between the two groups.A staging,EMVI and M staging were not described.Conclusion Our structured MRI reports for rectal cancer basically meet international research standards.Structured MRI reports have advantages,and deserve to be further studied and promoted.
8.Study on separation and purification of total alkaloids and mesaconitine with X - 5 macroporous resin.

OBJECTIVETo study systematically the factors which affect separation and purification of the total alkaloids and mesaconitine with X -5 macroporous resin.
METHODWith the content of the total alkaloids and mesaconitine as parameters, the optimum condition of absorption and elution were studied in the process of the purification with X -5 macroporous resin.
RESULTThe X - 5 macroporous resin yielded the best separating efficiency when the concentration of the extracted solution was 1 g raw material per 1 mL, pH 12.0, the absorptive time of 6 hour and the volume of 95% ethanol (7BV pH 8) as the eluant; X -5 macroporous resins was used five times in a reproducible way. The rate of extraction and content of the total alkaloid were 80% and 30% respectively after purification with X - 5 macroprous resin.
CONCLUSIONThe method can increase the purity of mesaconitine and total alkaloids.

9.Research progress in non-Helicobacter pylori Helicobacter species

Non-Helicobacter pylori Helicobacter species(NHPHs)are Helicobacter species other than Helicobacter pylo-ri(H.pylori).They are potential zoonotic pathogens that usually colonize the gastrointestinal tract of humans,dogs and cats,resulting in gastrointestinal diseases.Based on the site of colonization,NHPHs are classified as gastric or enterohepatic.NHPHs infecting dogs and cats may spread to humans through feces,saliva and gastric juices,causing human gastritis,gastric ulcer,and enteritis.This review summarizes recent progress of the etiology,epidemiology,and clinical and public health impli-cations of NHPHs in humans,dogs and cats.
10.Five single nucleotide polymorphisms of casein kinase I gamma 2 gene in children with familial febrile convulsions.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of casein kinase I gamma 2 (CSNK1G2) gene and children with familial febrile convulsions.
METHODSThe study samples were collected from unrelated Chinese Han population of Hebei province, including a cohort of 53 children with familial febrile convulsions(FC) and a control cohort of 101 individuals. Genotypes of SNPs rs2074882, rs740423, rs2277737, rs4806825, rs1059684 were typed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism.
RESULTSThe frequencies of the five SNPs complied well with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in FC group and normal group. The distribution of genotype and frequencies of alleles of the SNPs rs740423, rs2277737, rs1059684 in familial febrile convulsions group was significantly different from that in control group. No significant difference was observed in the distribution of genotypes and frequencies of alleles at SNP rs2074882 between two groups. Analysis on rs4806825 was not made owing to its less allele frequency.
CONCLUSIONThese data indicate that SNPs rs740423, rs2277737, rs1059684 of CSNK1G2 gene may contribute to familial febrile convulsions in children.
