1.Advances in Studies on Procalcitonin and Acute Pancreatitis
Chinese Journal of Gastroenterology 2014;(7):439-441
Acute pancreatitis( AP)is a common gastrointestinal emergency, which comprises mild acute pancreatitis ( MAP),moderately severe acute pancreatitis( MSAP)and severe acute pancreatitis( SAP). Most patients with MAP and MSAP present as a mild,self-limiting disease with low morbidity and mortality, however, patients who suffer from SAP will experience serious local and/or systemic complications associated with high mortality. Therefore, early assessment of disease severity is important for clinical management. Procalcitonin( PCT),a pro-peptide of calcitonin,is an inflammatory mediator that can be used to differentiate bacterial and non-bacterial infection. Recently, the effect of PCT on AP has attracted more and more attentions. This article reviewed the advances in studies on PCT and AP.

Objective:To investigate the role and regulatory mechanism of miR-125b-1-3p in rotavirus replication.Methods:MA104 cells were infected with rotavirus after upregulation and down-regulation of miR-125b-1-3p, respectively. The expression of miR-125b-1-3p and the copy number of rotavirus were analyzed by RT-PCR. The effect of miR-125b-1-3p on the protein expression of rotavirus was analyzed by immunofluorescence. The expression of related proteins involved in the regulation of miR-125b-1-3p was analyzed by Western blot analysis. Results:After rotavirus infection, the expression level of miR-125b-1-3p was significantly up-regulated, the copy number of VP7 and NSP3 gene of rotavirus decreased after up-regulation of miR-125b-1-3p, and the copy number of VP7 and NSP3 gene of rotavirus was significantly increased after down-regulation of miR-125b-1-3p.The fluorescence number of rotavirus protein decreased after upregulation of miR-125b-1-3p expression level, and increased after down-regulation of miR-125b-1-3p expression level. The activity of PI3K/Akt pathway was inhibited 16 h after rotavirus infection, and the up-regulation of miR-125b-1-3p could inhibit the activation of PI3K/Akt pathway.Conclusions:MiR-125b-1-3p inhibits rotavirus replication by regulating the PI3K/Akt pathway. These results provide an experimental basis for exploring the specific regulatory mechanism between miR-125b-1-3p and PI3K/Akt pathway, and provide a target for anti-infection therapy of rotavirus.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of occupational exposure to toluene diisocyanate (TDI) on the workers' health.
METHODSA total of 76 workers exposed to TDI (exposure group) and 64 management staff members (control group) were selected from a factory as the study subjects. Area sampling was performed for the place with exposure to TDI according to the method in GBZ 159-2004 Specifications of air sampling for hazardous substances monitoring in the workplace, and gas chromatography was applied to measure the concentration of TDI in workplace air. The workers' personal information was collected with questionnaire, pulmonary ventilation function was determined with a portable spirometer, hematological parameters were analyzed by automatic blood analyzer and blood chemistry analyzer, and the indicators of oxidative damage and energy metabolism were measured by the reagent kit provided by Nanjing Jiancheng Bioengineering Institute. SPSS 17 software was applied for statistical analysis.
RESULTSThe exposure group had significantly lower forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second(FEV1.0), and FEV1.0/FVC ratio than the control group (P <0.05). Compared with the control group, the exposure group had significantly higher red blood cell count, platelet distribution width, mean platelet volume, lymphocyte count, and neutrophil count(P<0.01), and significantly lower activities of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH), superoxide dismutase, and succinodehydrogenase (SDH)(P <0.01). In the exposure group, the length of exposure was negatively correlated with the activities of SDH and LDH in the serum (r=-0.319, P <0.05; r=-0.239, P <0.05), and the length of exposure was not found to be correlated with the activity of SOD and pulmonary function indices.
CONCLUSIONTDI can induce inflammatory response and lung ventilation function impairment in workers exposed to TDI, as well as oxidative stress and imbalance of energy metabolism. Therefore, it can cause damage to workers' health, and protective measures should be enhanced.

ObjectiveTo explore psychological and behavioral characteristics of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) using Psycho-educational Profile (Third Edition) (PEP3). MethodsFrom October, 2021 to October, 2022, 192 children with ASD without intervention in the Binzhou Medical University Hospital were selected as observation group, and 96 healthy children who visited at the same time were selected as control group. They were assessed with PEP3. ResultsThe development of receptive language significantly delayed behind expressive language (t = 5.383, P < 0.001) in the observation group. The cognitive, expressive language, receptive language, fine motor, gross motor, imitation and personal self-care correlated with age (r = 0.540 to 0.795, P < 0.001). The Cronbach's α of PEP3 for the observation group was 0.810 to 0.947. The original score of each subtest of PEP3 was less in the observation group than in the control group (|t| > 4.267, P < 0.001). ConclusionThe development of receptive language retards behind the expressive language in children with ASD. Cognitive and motor functions develop with age, while the correlation between maladaptive behavior and age is weak. PEP3 is reliable in internal consistency, and valid in discrimination.

ObjectiveTo explore the typical behavior characteristics of children with autism in symbolic play and the value of Symbolic Play Test (SPT) in the early identification of autism. MethodsFrom November, 2021 to September, 2022, a total of 260 children with language problems were collected from Department of Children's Health Care of Binzhou Medical University Hospital. A total of 193 children with autism were as observation group and 67 normal children were as control group. All children played symbolic games. The typical behavioral characteristics of children with autism in SPT were explored, and a reliability and validity analysis based on the results of SPT was conducted. They were assessed with the adaptive and personal social scores of Gesell Development Scale, and the correlation of the scores of Gesell Development Scale and the score of SPT was analyzed. ResultsThe Cronbach's α coefficient of SPT of children with autism was 0.835 to 0.935, and the total score of SPT, the scores of surrogate object, fictional attribute and fictional object were positively correlated with each other (r > 0.607, P < 0.001). The SPT scores decreased in the observation group (t > 9.615, P < 0.001), and SPT score positively correlated with adaptability and personal-social development quotient (r > 0.609, P < 0.001). ConclusionTypical behavior of children with autism can be reflected in symbolic play, and SPT can provide clues for early identification of autism.
