Weber-Christian disease is an inflammatory disease of subcutaneous fat tissue which is characterized by relapsing, febrile tender nodules and histologically lobular panniculitis. Many cases originally considered as examples of Weber-Christian disease were later found to be other diseases when lobular panniculitis was reclassified, and some authors believe that Weber-Christian disease should no longer be considered as a distinctive entity. However, there are still occasional cases which cannot be diagnosed as other specific diseases but have the characteristic manifestations of Weber-Christian disease, and they attest to the fact that Weber-Christian disease could be a distinctive disease entity. We report here a case of Weber-Christian disease in a 22-year-old female who was treated successfully with steroid pulse therapy.

Weber-Christian disease is a relapsing, febrile, nodular, nonsuppurative inflammation of the subcutaneous fat tissue. Many authors reported these cases which illustrate the great variability of the clinical manifestation, such as acute or chronic, fulminating or transient, febrile or non febrile, systemic or cutaneous. Two of our cases have had recurrent painful subeutaneous nodules without fever for several years. Biopsy showed a nonspecific inflammatory panniculitis with lymphocytes chiefly, and small amount of histiocytes and foamy cells. It should be suggested Weber-Christian disease when subcutaneous nodules appear recurrently same areas of the whole body surface except anterior aspects of tibia even if no fever as systemic manifestation. Treatment with steroid and chloroquine diphosphete produced good improvement.

Weber-Christian disease (WCD) is an inflammatory disease of subcutaneous fat tissue which is characterized by relapsing, febrile tender nodules and histologically lobular panniculitis. Any area of the body containing fat can be affected by WCD. Several cases of WCD have been reported as involvement of the heart, lung, liver and kidney. Acute illness (ex. acute myocardiac infarction, infection, etc) can be complicated with stress-related hyperglycemia and increase insulin restistance. Finally this case show that Weber-Christian disease accompanied by marked hyperglycemia and insulin resistance, which resolved soon after corticosteroid.

Weber-Christian disease is a rare inflammatory disease of subcutaneous fat necrosis that may or may not involve systemic disease. We report the results of a breast sonograph of a case diagnosed as a form of an acute lobular panniculitis affecting the breasts and upper limbs.

Weber-Christian disease (WCD) is a rare inflammatory disease of adipose tissue, which is characterized by painful cutaneous nodules and constitutional symptoms. Although any area of the body containing fat can be affected by WCD, the involvement of retrobulbar fat is uncommon and proptosis is a rare presenting manifestation. We report a case who presented with proptosis of the right eye which is accompanied by painful subcutaneous nodules, high fever and myalgia. Biopsies of retrobulbar tissue and suprapubic nodule showed lobular panniculitis with mixed cellular infiltration, mainly composed of histiocytes and lymphocytes. He responded well to high-dose glucocorticoid.

Two cases of Weber-Christian disease are reported. This very rare disease, we had two another reports of case sincc last ten years in The Korean Journal of Dermatology. In our cases both patients are seventeen years old girls and have the histories of remissions and exacerbations for two to three years. The skin lesions of subcutaneous nodules are scattered on the trunk, extremities and even to the hand dorsurns, with the atrophic depressions. Histologic features are typical with faormy histiocytes in the subcutaneous fat tissue. On tne treatments these patients are given oral corticosteroid, antihistaminics and salicylate with some improvments.

Weber-Christian disease is an inflammatory disease of subcutneious fat tissue which is clinically characterized by relapsing, febrile, nodular, nonsuppurative pannicutilitiy. The cause is unknown, but the disease has been attributed to an autoimmune reaction, infectioris, halogen compounds, sarcoidosis, SLE and a-antitrypsin deficiency. We report here in a case of Weber-Christian disease in a 8-year-old girl, who had indurated erythemataus subcutaneous nodules on the extremities, buttock and trunk accompanied by various general symptoms such as fever, malaise, arthralgia and edema of the abclorren and legs. Weber-Christian diaease is characterized by recurrent crops of subcutaneous nodules or plaques which occur during febrile periods and usually has spontaneous regression. Since the earlier case reports there have been instances of nodular panniculitis affecting visceral fat as well as the subcutaneous tissue. Death may rarely occur follow ing visceral involvement. We experienced a fatal case of Weber-Christian disease in a 32 year old female, who had prominent hepatomegaly and leukopenia accompanied by various general symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and cough. This case also had unusually large erythematous swelling of the face and aMomen in addition to multiple subcutaneous nodules in the extremities and trunk.
