Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(09):-
Satellite cells, as the major stem cells, are responsible for postnatal skeletal muscle growth, regeneration and maintenance. As a result, satellite cells have great potential as therapeutic agents. Activation of satellite cells in vivo is a key link in the muscle regeneration processes. And their replenishment is necessary to keep the capacity of skeletal muscle to regenerate after recurrence of muscle damage. Cellular and molecular regulation of activation and replenishment for satellite cells issues were reviewed. Hoping through the points of nitric oxide-hepatocyte growth factor (NO-HGF), myostatin and Notch signaling and the niche of satellite cells to overcome the recent obstruction in cell therapy in clinic myopathy, such as Duchenne muscle destrophy.

In order to improve the clinical outcomes and promote the development of enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS),a full-time specialized role of nurse navigator(NN) was established in Department of Surgery in February,2016. Clinical pathway for ERAS was designed, and role functions, core competencies and responsibilities of NN were formulated. According to the functions and the working frame,NN connected and coordinated teamwork activities, monitored the implementation of ERAS during the overall process. After implementation, the NN had dealt with 10 unusual incidents, the execution efficiency of the 14(82.4%) measurements were 100%,1 measurement was 97%,2 measurements were 94.1%,and 33 patients and 42 medical staff thought highly of the NN. This practice effectively promoted the development of ERAS team and specialist nurse role in our hospital.

Objective To explore the expression of membrane form of CD28 (mCD28) on T lymphoeytes and the serum level of soluble CD28 (sCD28) in elderly patients with primary non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in order to investigate the relationship between age-related changes of CD28 and the development of NSCLC in elderly patients. Methods 63 elderly patients with NSCLC, 35 elderly patients with lung benign lesion, 30 elderly healthy donors, 30 young healthy donors, 20 young patients with lung benign lesion and 20 young patients with NSCLC were enrolled in this study. The mCD28 on T cells and the serum level of sCD28 were measured by four-color flow eytometric assay and enzyme linked immunosorbent respectively, and the relationship between CD28 and clinical characteristics of NSCLC was analysed Results The expression of mCD28 was decreased and the serum level of sCD28 was increased in elderly patients with NSCLC compared with the other groups (F= 184.25, P<0. 01 ; F= 365.40, P<0.01). The expression of mCD28 was significantly lower and the level of sCD28 was significantly higher in elderly healthy donors than those in young healthy donors and young patients with lung benign lesion (P<0. 05). There were no significantly statistical differences in expression of mCD28 and level of sCD28 between elderly healthy donors and elderly patients with lung benign lesion [(42.84±5.82)% vs. (46.09±-7.34)%, (39.38±6.02)μg/L vs. (35.84±5.02)μg/L, P>0. 05]. Logistic regression analysis showed that aging (OR=2. 432), down-regulation of mCD28 expression (OR=0. 876) and up-regulation of sCD28 level (OR= 1. 113) were the risk factors for lung cancer. In the elderly patients with NSCLC, there were significant differences in mCD28 expression and sCD28 level between stages Ⅲ-Ⅳ and stages Ⅰ-Ⅱ [(16. 51± 5.64)% vs. (24.41±8.24)%, (75.03±5.98) μg/L vs. (66.73±7.52)μg/L; t=4.497,4.794, both P <0. 01]. However, there were no significantly statistical differences among different pathological types (F=0. 609, 0. 302, both P > 0. 05). Conclusions The down-regulation of mCD28 expression and up-regulation of sCD28 level with advancing age play an important role in the oncogenesis and development of primary non-small cell lung cancer in the elderly patients.

This study is to offer a clinical pain-depression dyad therapy of ferulic acid, the pain-depression dyad induced by reserpine was established and the dose-effect relationship of ferulic acid on ameliorating pain-depression dyad was explored. Mice were randomly divided into control group, reserpine + vechile and reserpine + ferulic acid (5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg x kg(-1)) groups. The reserpine treated mice were tested with thermal hyperalgesia, mechanicial allodynia and forced swimming tests, and the SOD and NO levels of hippocampus and frontal cortex were measured. Moreover, the HPLC-ECD was used to detect the changes of central monoamines concentrations. Compared with control group, reserpine can induce a significant decrease in the nociceptive threshold and increase in the immobility time of the forced swimming test. The results suggested that reserpine significantly increased the level of nitrite in hippocampus and frontal cortex and reduced the levels of SOD, 5-HT and NE in these two brain regions. However, these indexes can be a dose-dependently reversed by ferulic acid (5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg x kg(-1)). Ferulic acid can reverse pain-depression dyad, especially at the dose of 80 mg x kg(-1). In addition, it can influence oxidative stress and monoamine level.

Objective To investigate relationship between serum level of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP)and short-term prognosis in patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI).Methods Ninetynine patients with AMl with elevated S-T segment in electrocardiogram admitted to the department of cardiology, the Fourth Hospital of Jilin University,Changchun during January to December 2008 were divided into two groups.one with percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty(PTCA)or pereutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)(61 eases)and the other without PTCA(38 cases)as controls.Their serum levels of BNP were measured at admission, and one day and seven days after admission, respectively, and their main adverse cardiac events(MACE)were followed-up and recorded for 30 days. Results No significant differenee in serum BNP level between the patients at admission and one day after admission was found(P<0.01).Seven days after admission, serum BNP level in PCI group was significantly lower than that in controls(P<0.01),and occurrence of MACE was significantly lower in PCI group than that in controls(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis indicated that serum BNP level in PCI group seven days after admission was the uppermost predictor for MACE in patients with AMI in one month after onset(OR=1.026,95%CI 1.014-1.038,P<0.01).Serum BNP level was significantly higher in patients with MACE seven days after admission than that in those without it(P<0.01)during 30-day followup. Conclusion Serum level of BNP seven days after admission is associated with their short-term prognosisfor patients with AMI.

Objective To explore the MRI features of ejaculatory duct obstruction. Methods During January 2003 to Dccember 2010,transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) was performed for 106 patients and underwent surgical treatment for ejaculatory duct obstruction.Among them,16 patients underwent MRI examination. The MRI features of ejaculatory duct obstruction in these patients were summarized. Results Ejaculatory duct cysts, ranging in size from 4 mm ×4 mm ×7 mm to 4 mm ×4 mm ×9 mm and locating in the paramedian line, were detected in 5 of the 16 patients; ejaculatory duct dilation located in the paramedian line was detected in 7 patients, with the internal diameter of 5 to 30 mm. After contrast injection, significant enhancement of the wall of the ejaculatory duct was observed in 2 patients.Mullerian duct cysts complicated with dilated ejaculatory duct and seminal vesicles were detected in 4 patients,in whom the cysts were located in the median line, ranging in size from 4 mm × 5 mm × 6 mm to 34 mm×35 mm ×44 mm,with inverted teardrop shaped pointing toward the seminal colliculus.ConclusionThe most common MRI features of ejaculatory duct obstruction are ejaculatory duct dilation and ejaculatory duct cysts.
