ObjectiveTo investigate the effective approach for the treatment of detrusor underactivity. Methods98 patients with detrusor underactivity were randomly divided into electrotherapy group (electroacupuncture, interference current stimulation, n=32), medicine group (n=32) and electrotherapy-medicine group (n=34). The patients were assessed with examination of urodynamics and clinical parameters before and after treatment. ResultsThe detrusor strength were stronger after treatment in all the 3 groups (P<0.001), but electrotherapy-medicine group was more stronger than the other 2 groups (P<0.01). The cure rate in the 3 groups were 68.75%, 59.38% and 88.23% respectively, the patients in electrotherapy-medicine group gained significantly better results than the other 2 groups (x2=9.976, P<0.01). The difference of cure rate between the electrotherapy group and the medicine group was not significant (P>0.05). ConclusionElectric stimulation therapy combined with medicine is an effective intervention for treatment of detrusor underactivity and is better than electric stimulation therapy or drugs only.

Objective To study the balance function of normal persons and to explore the differences in gender and age groups. Methods Forty parameters of 445 normal persons(16-70 years old, 205 of male, 240 of female ) were detected by static posturography while they were in seat, double foot standing with opening and closing eyes, and single foot standing with opening eyes. The results of male and female, standing with opening eyes and closing eyes, left foot standing and right foot standing were compared. Results Everyone's center of gravity was distributed in A zone while they were in seat. At standing with opening eyes and closing eyes, the center of gravity in A zone were in 429 subjects( 96.4%) and 436 subjects( 98.0%). Most parameters showed significant difference between the women and the men, opening eyes and closing eyes, left foot standing and right foot standing, different age groups. The stability in closing eyes was better than that in opening eyes, right foot standing was better than left foot standing. Most values of 20—39 years old group were the best, 70—79 years old group were the worst. Conclusion Static posturography can evaluate human balance function objectively and quantitatively. The stability is related to age and gender. To judge the balance function, the subject's age and sex must be taken into account.

ObjectiveTo establish separate and appraisal methods of murine bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and optimize the suitable conditions inducting MSCs directional differentiating into adipocytes in vitro.MethodsThe differential adherence to plastic was employed to separate MSCs. CFU-f and successive CFU-f cultures were employed to characterize the potent of proliferation and self-renewal of MSCs. The different adipogenic medium was used as induction for the differentiation of MSCs into adipocytes. The differentiated cells were identified by oil red O immunohistochemistry stain.ResultsThe purified MSCs showed the morphology of fibroblasts. It was found that the number of CFU-f formation depended on the planted number of MSCs. It showed a good relationship. Small type colony of CFU-f had little potent to re-clone, but almost 90% big type colony of CFU-f had the potent to regenerate CFU-f. The MSCs could directionally differentiated into adipocytes induced by different adipogenic medium. But more than 96% MSCs differentiated into mature adipocytes when induced by combined with dexamethasone (DM), 1-methy-3-isobutylxanthine (IBMX), insulin (IS) and indomethacin (ID).ConclusionThe purified MSCs can be harvested by method of differential adherence to plastic, and these MSCs have the potent of proliferation and self-renewal. Moreover, more than 96% MSCs can differentiate into mature adipocytes when induced by combined with DM, IBMX, IS and ID.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of amitrole on the transcription of thyroglobulin (tg), thyroid peroxidase (tpo), Na(+)/I- symporter (nis), Na(+)/I- symporter (nis), thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (tshr), thyroid transcription factor 1 (ttf-1) and paired-domain protein-8 (pax-8) genes in FRTL-5 cells and investigate the mechanism of amitrole for intervening in thyroid hormone activity.
METHODSFRTL-5 cells were treated with amitrole at 0.001, 0.01 and 0.1 mg/ml for 24 h, respectively, after which the cells were collected for extraction of the total RNA. RT-PCR was used to examine the effects of amitrole on the transcription of tg, tpo, nis, tshr, pax-8 and ttf-1 genes in FRTL-5 cells.
RESULTSAmitrole significantly induced tg gene transcription at all the doses, but produced no obvious effects on tpo and nis gene transcription. At the concentration of 0.1 mg/ml, amitrole significantly reduced pax-8 and tshr gene transcription but increased ttf-1 gene transcription.
CONCLUSIONThe effects of amitrole on thyroid hormone activity may be related with its actions on tg, ttf-1, tshr and pax-8 gene transcription.
