A statistical survey was made on 729 inpatients during the period of 4 years and 9 months, 1961-1965, in the Department of Urology, The First Army Hospital, in reference to age distribution, monthly distribution on various diseases of the genitourinary tracts and operative procedures. The tables in the text represent the result of the observation and are summarized as follows: The majority of the patients (85%) was distributed between the ages 21 and 26. Of 729 in patients, there were 270 cases (37%) of genito-urinary tuberculosis, 84 cases (11.5%) of urinary calculus,69 cases of trauma and 60 cases of non-specific urinary tract infection. There were 379 operative procedures including 91 nephrectomies, and 108 epididiymectomies.

The Klinefelter's syndrome is characterized by azoospermia, gynecomastia, a variable degree of eunuchoidism elevated urinary gonadotropins, atrophic testis and hyalinization of the seminiferous tubules in which Leydig cells were preserved. Reviewing some world literatures, we have reported a case of Klinefelter's syndrome associated with right inguinal hernia in 22 year-old Korean male.

Korean Journal of Urology 1970;11(4):259-262
The spermatic granuloma is a granulomatous inflammation which is the tissue reaction due to extravasated sperm. Its exact causes and mechanism are not clearly evaluated. Its clinical interest is that it often confused with tuberculous epididymitis and other epididymal conditions. We experienced a case of spermatic granuloma that was clinically confused with tuberculous epididymitis in 23-year old Korean male.

Korean Journal of Urology 1966;7(1):47-49
Thirty-eight patients with urethral injury treated during the period from January 1962 to August 1964 have been studied in particular reference to sexual ability following injury and the results are summarized as follows: 1. The incidence of urethral injury was 6.8% of the total inpatients and the average in age was 23.8 years. Twenty-three cases (61.5%) were accompanied by pelvic fracture. 2. The incidence of impotence following injury was 47%, 36.4% temporary and 11.0% permanent. 3. Of 14 cases of temporary impotence, urethral injury was accompanied by pelvic fracture in 11 and all 4 cases of permanent impotence followed urethral injury accompanied by pelvic fracture. 4. Of fourteen cases of temporary impotence, previous urethral injury was complete in 6 and incomplete. in 8. Four cases of permanent impotence followed 3 complete urethral injury and one incomplete urethral rupture. 5. The average interval between the reception of trauma and the recognition of impotence was 3 to 5 months.

Korean Journal of Urology 1969;10(1):35-38
A 24-year-old Korean soldier was found to have horseshoe kidney with left ureter stone. The diagnosis was made radiographically. Considering the rarity of this disorder, we decided to report this case. According to the literature. horseshoe kidney was described by Berengeri da Carpi for the first time in 1552. After Allen, the ratio of incidence of the horseshoe kidney is approximately 0.25% of the general population. Its etiology, incidence, complication, diagnosis and treatment was discussed. Recent related literatures were reviewed.

8.Current status and new policy direction of healthcare personnel in Korea.
Journal of the Korean Medical Association 2012;55(10):940-949
The health insurance financial crisis and the aging population have overshadowed the South Korean healthcare market. Reforming healthcare has become a major policy issue in the upcoming presidential election on December 19, 2012. It is hard to imagine a time when expectations have been higher and the challenges have been greater for the next administration to create a sustainable healthcare system. Among healthcare policy problems, the new administration must keep in mind reforms for healthcare personnel. Accordingly, several intermediate and long-term actions and initiations for healthcare personnel can help lay the groundwork for sustainable development of Korea's healthcare system. Possible examples include balancing the supply plan of physicians and nurses according to the finances of the National Health Insurance, controlling the number of dentists, oriental medical doctors, and pharmacists, while enhancing health education specialists, and complementary and alternative medical therapists.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1995;24(9):1074-1078
Menigioma arising from the orbit is uncommonly encountered. Ectopic(extradural) meningiomas are exceedingly rare orbital tumors that do not originate from either the optic nerve or the intracranial meninges. We present a case of probable primary ectopic(extradural) orbital meningioma that was successfully treated with a complete surgical excision.
