Journal of Practical Radiology 2015;(3):397-401
Objective To analyze the imaging features of solitary focal ground-glass opacity nodules (fGGO)by multi-slice spiral CT(MSCT)reconstruction technique in order to improve the differential diagnosis between benign and malignant fGGO and the diag-nosis of early-stage lung cancer. Methods 50 lesions confirmed by pathology were divided into three groups including preinvasive nodules in 19,invasive adenocarcinoma in 10 and benign ones in 21.All CT images were processed by coronal and sagittal recon-struction,maximum and minimum intensity projection (MIP & minIP)and VR.The relationships between fGGO and bronchus were divided into four types:Type Ⅰ with abruptly obstructed bronchus by the fGGO;Type Ⅱ with penetrated and conical inter-rupted bronchus by the fGGO;Type Ⅲ with normal bronchus;and Type Ⅳ with fGGO neighboring the bronchus. In addition, the relationships between fGGO and vessel were divided into three types:Type Ⅰ with normal vessel in or near the fGGO;Type Ⅱ with taper-like narrowed or interrupted one in fGGO;and Type Ⅲ with obstructed one by the fGGO.The clinical data, lesion type,mar-gin,internal structure (air bronchograms/vacuole sign),adjacent structures (vascular convergence/pleural retraction)and the rela-tionships between lesion and adjacent bronchus or vessel were statistically analyzed. Results No statistical differences between three groups were found in the sex of patient and lesion type.A significant difference was found in the age of patients (P=0.005)with less age in benign group than that in preinvasive or invasive adenocarcinoma group. The margin, internal and adjacent structures of the lesions were significantly different (P<0.05).Among the different types of relationship between fGGO and brochus, type Ⅱand Ⅲ were often seen in the preinvasive and the invasive adenocarcinoma groups (the invasive adenocarcinoma often with type Ⅱ), and the type Ⅲ and Ⅳ were in the benign group (benign nodules only with the type Ⅳ).Among the types of relationship between fGGO and vessel, type Ⅱ was seen commonly in the preinvasive group, type Ⅲ often in the invasive adenocarcinoma group, and type Ⅰ only in the benign group. Conclusion The suggested signs with malignant possibility may include the older age,the lesions with lobulated and/or speculated margin, air bronchograms, vacuole sign, pleural retraction around the lesion, vascular convergence sign, and obstructed or cone-shaped narrowed bronchi or vessels in or near the nodules.Thin-section imaging reconstruction techniques help to fully display these signs.

4.Retrospective analysis of 58 patients with Takayasu' s arteritis
International Journal of Surgery 2013;(1):26-29
Objective To evaluate the clinical features and curative effect of patients with Takayasu's arteritis. Methods The clinical data of fifty-eight patients, which were divided into different groups according to gender, clinical classifications, disease activity, and so on,were retrospectively analyzed,to compare whether the results of clinical features, laboratory tests or prognosis had significant differences. Results The data suggested the fact that stroke as first manifestation(2/9 vs 0/49,P =0.022) and incidence of hypertension (9/9 vs 28/49,P =0.037),as well as critical hypertension(8/9 vs 18/49,P =0.011) were more common in male patients than in female patients. The active Takayasu's arteritis patients showed that the level of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR),C-reactive protein (CRP),platelet and fibrinogen was elevated, while the level of Albumin/Globulin ratio was decreased.Electrophoresis showed that the elevation of globulin mainly based on globulin α1 and globulin α2 (P < 0.05).The reduction of complement C3 is more common in inactive group than in active group. Conclusion Stroke and hypertension are more common in male Takayasu's arteritis patients than in female patients. The active Takayasu' s arteritis patients showed elevated level of ESR,CRP,platelet and fibrinogen, while the level of Albumin/Globulin ratio was reduced.

BACKGROUND:No particularly effective medicine could treat human immunodeficiency virus 1(HIV 1) associated dementia(HAD) at present, which mainly because the mechanism of HIV 1 infection induced neural damage and necrosis is still not completely clarified. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of human immunodeficiency virus I type(HIV 1) enveloped protein(EP) gp120 on the synaptic transmission and plasticity in hippocampal CA1 area of rat to clarify the mechanism of HAD generation. DESIGN:A paired design. SETTING:Department of Pathophysiology of Medical College of Jinan University. MATERIALS:The study was conducted in the Department of Pathophysiology(a tertiary national key laboratory of National Administration for Traditional Chinese Medicine, registration number: TCM 03 131) of the Medical College of Jinan University from January to October of 2003.Male SD rats aged between 2 and 5 weeks were used in the study. INTERVENTIONS:Brain slice perfusion and recording technique was employed. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:To record the excitatory postsynaptic potential(EPSP) in hippocampal CA1 area in rat;to investigate the effects of gp120 on long term potentiation(LTP) induced by high frequency electric stimulation in Schaffer lateral branch. RESULTS:gp120 had inhibitive effect on LTP in hippocampal CA1 area in rat [the average amplitude of LTP decreased from normal (216.1± 14.0) % to(90.8± 6.0) % ,n=12,P< 0.01],but had no effect on basic EPSP.PKA/PKC protein kinase(PK) inhibitor H7 could reverse this inhibitive effect [the average amplitude of LTP was(198.8± 16.2) % ,n=8,P< 0.01]. CONCLUSION:gp120 might participate the generation of HAD through inhibiting LTP in hippocampal CA1 area.

Objective:To explore the drug application in the postoperative chemotherapy for the patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Methods:The chemotherapy regimens, drug utilization and adverse drug reactions in the non-small cell lung cancer patients received postoperative chemotherapy in 2012 were statistically analyzed in a retrospective study. Results:Totally 8 kinds of chemother-apy regimens were used in 156 cases. The NC( vinorelbine + carboplatin) regimen was used most frequently and the PC( pemetrexed+ carboplatin) regimen was with the highest expense. Proton pump inhibitors, recombinant human erythropoietin and lentinan were the top three in the adjuvant drugs used in the treatment. Conclusion:It is necessary to further standardize the postoperative chemo-therapy for non-small cell lung cancer patients. Thoracic surgeons along with pharmacists should strengthen the drug use monitoring during the whole treatment process to promote the rational drug use.

Chinese Journal of Digestive Endoscopy 1996;0(06):-
Objective To determine the effectiveness of ETCD ( endoscopic transpapillary cyst drainage) in treatmen! of pancreatic pseudocysts. Methods Twenty-six patients with pancreatic pesudocysts were selected. They are presented some indications for treatment and the pesudocyst were ranged in size from 1.5 to 15 cm. Of 23 cases 38 sessions of ETCD were performed. In two of thirty-eight cases the cyst bulges were invisible in the stomach or duodenum due to its compression. In one case ETCD was employed after percutaneous drainage of the pseudocyst, the other one was treated after combination therapy of plastic stent ing because of jaundice. Results Improvement of abdominal pain, changes in appetite, body weight and fat in stool were recorded in follow-ups of 60 ~ 850 days. There was only one asymptomatic recurrence. One case was complicated with pancreatic abscess. There was no mortality related to the procedure. Surgical intervention became necessary in three cases because of inadequate drainage or complication. Conclusion ETCD treatment of symptomatic pancreatic pseudocysts with ductal communication, the transpapillary pancreatic duct stenting is a safe, effective modality and should be considered as the first line therapy; on the other hand for those pancreatic pseudocyst without communication to the main pancreatic duct it is not effective.

Objective:To evaluate the reliability of localization of the impacted teeth by assessing various conventional radiographies. Methods:32 patients with impacted teeth were included. The impacted teeth were localized by conventional roentgenographic techniques including panoramic radiography (PR) and linear tomography (LT).Results:Dentomaxillary orthopantomographic solution (PR,LT and PR combined with LT) clearly presented the position of the impacted teeth. Serial cross-section linear tomography also ensured the shape and axis of the impacted teeth captured on the radiograph. The accuracy of the localization was further verified by the surgical exposure in 5 cases. Conclusion:Orthopantomographic assessing can directly and precisely localize the buccal and lingual position of the impacted teeth.
