The Journal of Practical Medicine 2017;33(2):185-188
Objective To observe the long?term efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by intensity?modulated radiation therapy. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the data of 183 patients with locally advanced NPC who were hospitalized in our hospital:96 cases in the observation group, 87 cases in the con?trol group. Results There were no significant differences between the observation group and the control group in terms of five?year OS (77.1%vs. 78.2%, P=0.861), DMFS(89.6%vs. 90.8%, P=0.782), RFS (78.1%vs. 77%, P=0.857) and PFS (72.9%vs. 71.3%, P=0.803). Compared with the control group, the observation group did not sig?nificantly improve 5?year OS, DMFS, RFS and PFS in T3?4N0?1 patients and also did not improve 5?year OS, DMFS, RFS and PFS in T1?4N2?3 patients. There were significantly larger numbers of individuals with adverse reactions in the observation group than in the control group. Conclusions Compared with the long?term efficacy in the patients with locally advanced NPC between neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by intensity?modulated radiation therapy with concurrent chemotherapy and intensity?modulated radiation therapy with concurrent chemotherapy, the progno?sis has no significantly differences and neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by intensity?modulated radiation therapy with concurrent chemotherapy leads to a larger number of adverse reactions. The action of neoadjuvant chemothera?py followed by intensity?modulated radiation therapy with concurrent chemotherapy in treatment of locally advanced NPC needs more research.

AIM:To investigate the mechanism of endothelium-derived microparticles(EMP)-induced endothelial dysfunction and the role of superoxide anion(O-?2) in EMP-induced endothelial dysfunction.METHODS:EMP were isolated from human umbilical vein endothelial cells stimulated with plasminogen activated inhibitor-1.(1) Cultured bovine aortic endothelial cells(BAEC) were divided into 3 groups and pretreated with nothing in group 1,EMP(1?108/L) in group 2,EMP(1?108/L) + L-nitroarginiemethylester(L-NAME,1 mmol/L) in group 3 for 30 min and A23187(5 ?mol/L) stimulated O-?2 generation was determined by superoxide dismutase(SOD)-inhibitable ferricytochrome C reduction.(2) Facialis arteries(60-150 microns) were isolated from C57BL/6 mice and divided into 4 groups. The vessels were pretreated with nothing in group 1,EMP(1?108/L) in group 2,EMP(1?108/L) + SOD(2?105 U/L) in group 3,EMP(1?108/L) + polyethylene glycolated-SOD(PEG-SOD,2?105 U/L) in group 4 for 10 min and acetylcholine(ACH)-induced vasodilation was measured.RESULTS:(1) EMP significantly increased O-?2 generation in BAEC culture, which was prevented about 50% by pretreating the BAEC with L-NAME.(2) EMP significantly impaired ACH-induced vasodilation.SOD could not restore EMP-impaired ACH-induced vasodilation and PEG-SOD showed partial restoration of vasodilation.CONCLUSION:These data indicate that at least some EMP-induced endothelial dysfunction occurs by inducing intracellular O-?2 generation. It may provide a theoretical evidences in finding a multiple treatment including removal of O-?2 in the future.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2011;9(7):789-93
Functional targets are the objects that Chinese herbal medicines act directly upon. If the relationships between the properties of Chinese herbs and their functional targets were analyzed clearly, it would benefit the overall understanding of the holistic mechanisms of Chinese herbal treatments. In this paper, data regarding the properties of Chinese herbs and their functional targets were collected from the 2005 edition of The People's Republic of China Pharmacopoeia. After analyzing and assessing the data, the relationships were defined between the four qi, meridian entry and medicinal functional targets and between the four qi, five flavors and mode of function. Then the relationships between a single herbal medicine and a prescription were analyzed, and the results conformed with the traditional knowledge of Chinese herbal nature and efficacy. This demonstrated that the holistic mechanisms of the properties of Chinese herbs adhere to the findings, which may be beneficial for the development and compatibility of Chinese herbal medicines.
