2.A Study on the Status of Health Education of Kindergartens for Preschoolers.
Korean Journal of Child Health Nursing 1998;4(2):255-264
Disease prevention and health promotions are basically needed to be healthy, health education si the most useful mean to accomplish them, Preschool children are being developed, their health problem can effect their health status through their lives. This study was attempted to survey for status of health education of kindergarten for preshoolers and to provide the basic precious data for nursing intervention. The subjects were 51 kidergarten teachers. The data were collected by the questionnaires, which consists of 25 items concerning daily life habits of children and 1 item concerning the problems of health education for preschoolers. The data were analyzed by SAS program. The results of this study are as followed ; 1. The most frequently educated subjects were 'adequate and safe play' and 'hand washing', 'walking and running straightly', 'oral hygiene or tooth brushing', 'walking staires'. 2. The most frequently used teaching method was the explaining. 3. The most frequently used instructional media was the pictures. The slide films and OHP was seldomly used media. 4. The most effective teaching method which perceived by the kindergarten teachers was role play. Discussion and compensation/reinforcement were comparatively effective method also. 5. The most effective instructional media which perceived by the kindergarten teachers was a real object/model. 6. The problems of health education for preschoolers were 'deficiency of developed health educational programs' and 'inconsistency between parents' education and kindergarten teachers' education', 'deficiency of instructional media'. The other problems were ' the knowledge deficit of teachers themselves' and 'the difficulty of measure the effect of education', 'time deficit'. Conclusionally, we have to realize the health of children is the future of our health, and reinforce the health education for preschoolers to accomplish the disease prevention and health promotion.

3.the effects of social support on loneliness and life satisfaction in elderly Korean immigrants.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 1998;10(2):311-321
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of social support on loneliness and life satisfaction in elderly Korean Immigrants living in the U.S.A. The sample consisted of 174 community-dwelling elderly Korean Immigrants who lived in a large Midwestern city area. Telephone interviews were used to collect the data using translated Korean version of the Social Support Questionnaire 6, Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale, and the Life Satisfaction Index-Z. A descriptive level correlational design was used in this study. Results indicated that the subjects had on the average of two to three emotional supporters. The mean score of social support satisfaction was between fairly and a little satisfaction on the scale. The mean score of loneliness was 42.60, indicating that the subjects were moderately lonely. the mean score of life satisfaction was 12.94, indicating that the subjects were moderately satisfied with their life. In this study, social support variables( network size and satisfaction ) had both a direct effect on life satisfaction and an indirect effect through loneliness. Elderly Korean immigrants who had the large number of people in their network were less lonely and thus more satisfied with their life than those who had the small number of people in their network. also, elderly Koreans who were more satisfied with social support were less lonely and thus more satisfied with their life than those who were less satisfied with social support. Social support satisfaction was a better predictor for loneliness and life satisfaction than social network size.

7.A Case of Solitary Keratoachathoma.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1977;15(1):89-93
Keratoacanthoma is a benign, self limited epithelial tumor which is resemble to squamous cell carcinoma clinically and histopathologically. We have experienced a case of solitary Keratoacanthoma 48-year old female which involved left upper cheek, Diagnosis was made by characteristic clinical symptom, and. histopathologic finding.

8.A Case of Multiple Glomus Tumor.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1977;15(2):243-247
Multiple glomus tumors, although rare, have usually been unassociated with pain. A case of multiple nontender glomus tumor is reported in 16-year old male. The tumor was 15 soft, slightly bluish purple pea sized subcutaneous nodules on right forearm. Diagnosis was confirmed by the clinical and histological features.

9.A Case of Pityriasis Lichenoides er Varioliformis Acuta.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1977;15(4):477-481
Pityriasis lichenoids et varioliformis acuta(Mucha-Habermann disease) is a distinctive eruption of unknown cause. A case of pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta, 24-year old male, was seen at dermatology department, St. Mary's hospital, Catholic Medical College. The eruption was ;olymorphic, consisting of pink papules, Some of the papules had a fine brown scale, while others became hemorrhagic and vesicular, leading to varioliform scarring on tumk and extremities except palms and soles without subjective symptoms. Histopathological geatures were hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis focal obliteration of the dermoepidermal junction by lymphocytes extending from the dermal papillac and invading the lower dermis, heaby perivascular lymphocytic infiltration diaperdesis of red blood cells into the corium and opidermis, and necrotic crust. The lesion was completely cleared with 10 mg of methotrexate by mouth twic a week for 4 weeks.

10.Anterior Interbody Fusion in Unstable Fracture and Fracture
Myung Sang MOON ; In KIM ; Ok Bae KIM
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1981;16(2):265-276
Authors had reviewed the results of 20 anterior cervical fusions performed between 1975 and 1980 to determine which factors were important to a successful result. There had been 18 single level fusions and 2 fusions at two levels, the majority at C and C. The indications for fusion operation were: firstly in acutely traumatized patient was the spine representing radiologically the signs of segmental instability, secondly was the chronic segmental instability in old traumatized spine representing the nuchal rigidity and severe cervicobrachial pain which. was not ceased by conservative treatments. The index of successful fusion was complete relief of pain, loss of cervical rigidity and radiologlcal stability of fused segment indicated by no-movement in flexion-extension lateral radiograms, and the bony bridges between the fused segments. The postoperative stability of spine was assessed by measuring the changes of disc space and kyphotic angle. The result obtained were as follows: 1. Pre-and post-operative immobilization with cervical traction played an immportant role for successful results after fusion: 4–6 weeks of pre-operative traction in acutely injured spine provided the torn soft tissue structures with sufficient time needed for its healing, and 6 weeks of postoperative traction also provided the bone graft with sufficient time needed for its cooperation with graft bed. 2. ln all cases succeasful fusion was obtained. In a case a adjacent level was incorrectly fused, but it was fused soundly in time, while the unstable unfused segment was not fused spontaneously. 3. The fused segment or segments of spine stabilized clinically in 6-8 weeks after fusion operation which was proven by serial radiograms, and solid bony fusion was obtained radiologically averaging in 12 weeks after fusion operation. 4. The average increase of kyphosis after interbody fusion till solid fusion was negligible, averaging 3.0 degrees. 5. The solid fusion occurred in one to 2 weeks earlier in the spines with wedge and axial conpression fractures than the spines with flexion-rotation and shear types of fractures. 6. No further neurogical damage developed after successful fusion.
