Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(25):4062-4067
BACKGROUND:When peri-implantitis occurs, the levels of interleukin-17 in the peri-implant sulcular fluid and soft tissues are significantly increased, and there is a positive correlation with the depth of the peri-implant probing. However, because of the dual effects of bone absorption and protection, the function of interleukin-17 in peri-implantitis remains controversial, which should be further studied. OBJECTIVE:To retrospectively analyze the correlation between peri-implantitis and interleukin-17. METHODS: The first author searched Wanfang, CNKI and Medline databases from 1991 to 2014 by using key words of “dental implants, peri-implantitis, periodontitis, Th17 cels, interleukin-17, cytokines” in Chinese or English. The functions of bone destruction and protection of interleukin-17 in peri-implantitis were reviewed, and interleukin-17 expression and correlation with the peri-implantitis were detected. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 46 articles from 241 articles are selected. The results show that, noninvasive detection of the variation of interleukin-17 levels in peri-implant sulcular fluid or blood is conducive to the monitoring of early diagnosis and treatment of peri-implantitis. At present, most researches show the relationship between interleukin-17 and peri-implantitis, and there is a positive correlation between interleukin-17 and peri-implant probing depth. But other researches suggest that interleukin-17 acts as protector for bones, and there is no statistic significance in the level of interleukin-17 receptor gene in chronic peri-odontitis and healthy subjects. Therefore, the correlation between peri-implantitis and interleukin-17 remains to be further studied.

OBJECTIVETo make sure of the harmfulness degree of the dust in geological prospecting occupation.
METHODSThe determination of respirable dust, total dust and the free silica concentrations was carried out at different working spots exposed to dust. Personal sampling equipment was used to collect the respirable dust. The data of respirable dust concentration in the research was compared to the historical data.
RESULTSAs for respirable dust concentration level, 47.95% of 765 silica dust spots of geological prospecting occupation in 9 provinces(autonomous regions) were beyond the criteria. The profession and work type of the highest dust concentration was chiseling and sampling of geological prospecting [from 1996-2000, the dust concentration was (6.15 +/- 3.12) mg/m3]. The ratio of respirable dust to total dust was high in geological prospecting workers. The FSiO2 contentin dust to which geological prospecting workers exposed was high too.
CONCLUSIONSThe respirable dust concentration of some types of work in geological prospecting occupation was obviously higher than the national criteria, especially in chiseling, sampling and drilling workers.

Objective To investigate the effect of all trans-retinoic acid (ATRA) combining with Interferon α-2a on bladder tumor and the possible mechanisms. Methods Fifty female Wistar rats with bladder tumor were established and separated into 4 groups randomly that are DMSO group (A), IFN-α-2a group(B), ATRA group(C) and ATRA+IFN-α-2a group(D). Then each group was treated by drugs indicated. Finally, the weight of bladder, the stage and grade of tumor, the apoptosis and proliferation index of tumor were determined to estimate the effect of ATRA+IFN-α-2a. Results The body weights in group D are the highest and the bladder weights in group D are the lowest. The stages and grades of tumor in group D were statistically decreased compared with those in the other 3 groups. Accordingly, the apoptosis of cancer cells in group D was enhanced, whereas the proliferation index in group D was decreased significandy. Conclusion The effect of ATRA combined with Interferonα-2a on the bladder tumor is better than that of monotherapy.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2007;27(11):1746-1748
OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) in colorectal cancer tissues and investigate its correlation with the clinicopathological factors of the malignancy.
METHODSImmunohistochemistry and RT-PCR was employed to detect the expression of XIAP in 87 colorectal cancer tissues.
RESULTSXIAP mRNA expression was detected in 64.4% (56/87) of the colorectal cancer tissues, 49.4% (43/87) of the adjacent tissues, and in 11.4% (10/87) of the normal tissues, respectively. The cancer tissues showed significant greater positivity rate and higher expression level of XIAP mRNA than the adjacent and normal tissues. Immunohistochemistry also identified a significantly greater positivity rate for XIAP [70.1% (61/87)] in the colorectal cancer tissues. The pathological grade of the tumors was associated with the expression level of XIAP, whereas this association was not established between XIAP expression and the clinical stages, tumor position or lymph node metastasis.
CONCLUSIONXIAP may play an important role in the development of colorectal cancer, which might serve as a potentially useful tumor marker.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of chronic intermittent hypobaric hypoxia (IHH) and chronic continuous hypobaric hypoxia (CHH) on hemodynamics under basic normoxia and acute hypoxia conditions and to find the difference of two types of chronic hypoxia. Forty adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: Control group (CON), 28 days IHH group (IHH28), 42 days IHH group (IHH42), 28 days CHH group (CHH28) and 42 days CHH group (CHH42). The rats in IHH groups were treated with intermittent hypoxia (11.1% O2) mimicking 5 000 m altitude in a hypobaric chamber for 28 or 42 d, 6 h a day, respectively. The rats in CHH groups lived in the hypobaric chamber with the same degree of hypoxia like IHH rats except half an hour in normoxia each day for feeding and cleaning. The body weight of rats was measured once a week. The parameters in hemodynamics, such as mean artery blood pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP), maximum change rate of left ventricular pressure (+/-LVdP/dt(max)) were recorded under basic normoxia and acute hypoxia conditions through catheterization technique. The superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in myocardium of rats were measured by biochemical method. The weights of whole heart, left and right ventricles were measured separately. The results showed: (1) The basic HR and MAP in CHH42 rats were lower than those in CON, IHH and CHH28 rats (P<0.05). (2) IHH showed a cardioprotection against acute hypoxia and reoxygenation injury, manifested as the result that the changes of HR, MAP, LVSP, and +/- LVdP/dt(max) were smaller than those in CON rats during acute hypoxia and reoxygenation. CHH showed a rather strong cardioprotection during acute hypoxia, manifested as the result that the decreases of HR, MAP, LVSP, and +/- LVdP/dt(max)were much smaller, but it did damage during reoxygenation, manifested as the result that the recovery of hemodynamics was the worst among three groups (P<0.05). (3) The antioxygenation of heart was increased in both IHH and CHH rats compared with that in CON rats manifested by the increased SOD activity and decreased MDA content (P<0.05, P<0.01). (4) IHH had no effect on heart weight, but CHH rats showed an obvious right ventricular hypertrophy compared with CON and IHH animals (P<0.01). The result indicates that IHH can induce a more effective cardioprotection with no much side effect, which might have a potential value for practical use.
