Neuron axonal signals play an important role in myelination of central nervous system. Myelination depends on a balance between the positive and negative neuron axonal signals. The positive signals, such as neuregulins (NRG), neuron cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), electrical activity and neurotrophins, have a function of promoting the proliferation and the myelination thickness of ensheathing glial cells, while the negative factors like the L1 protein, poly-sialic acid-neuron cell adhesion molecule (PSA-NCAM), will lead a marked decrease in myelination. Here,we mainly present some well-researched neuron axonal factors and their mechanism.

Objective To further investigate clinical manifestations and management for thallium poisoning. Methods Clinical data of 6 patients who were hospitalized in Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College in May 2008 with diagnosis of acute or chronic thallium poisoning, were retrospectively analyzed. Results Six patients (4 male and 2 female) ,aged from 12 to 50,came from one family (two sisters with their husbands and sons). Five of them (3 acute and 2 chronic, for the second time in half a year, thallium poisoning) initiated with peripheral neuritis, represented with severe burning pain, numbness, paresthesia in the lower limbs, accompanied with or without gastrointestinal symptoms. A 12 year-old boy with obviously elevated urinary thallium concentration was asymptomatic. Blood and urinary thallium concentrations of the patients were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry and were all significantly elevated.Treatment was initiated using potassium supplementation, diuresis, oral laxatives,Prussian blue and intramuscular injection of dimercaptopropansulfonate sodium.Meanwhile two of them were treated with hemoperfusion. Finally, two of them recovered, another two were transferred to a specialized hospital for continuous treatment, and the rest two deteriorated rapidly with occurrence of unconsciousness and died of multiple organ failure. Conclusions The main clinical manifestations of thallium poisoning are multiple peripheral neuritis, gastrointestinal symptoms and dermatological changes. In order to avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis,a high suspicion should be arose for thallium poisoning when a patient suffering from the above symptoms.Prussian blue was considered traditionally as an effective therapeutic strategy for the condition, and hemoperfusion may be a more effective treatment for acute thallium poisoning.

Objective: To research the best processing method for ginger pinellia by orthogonal tests. Methods: The orthogonal tests included the soaking time, boiling water and cooking time as the influencing factors, an HPLC method was used for the determination of 4 nucleosides (uridine, guanosine, adenosine, inosine), and the alum limit and extract content were also studied. The results were evaluated by multi index comprehensive weighted score to optimize the processing technology of ginger pinellia. Results: The best processing technology of ginger pinellia was as follows: soaked for 60 hours, the proportion of boiling water and pinellia tuber was 15:1, and boiled for about 5 h.Conclusion: The optimum processing technology of ginger pinellia is reasonable, reliable and reproducible, which can be used as the reference for the processing standardization of Chinese crude drugs.

Objective To analyze the relationship between categories, sum and seasonal distribution of airborne fungi and childhood bronchial asthma in Huangshi region. Methods Airborne fungi was investigated through gravitational precipitating method by placing the sample cutter at the 5th floor platform of the surgery department of the First People′s Hospital of Huangshi.Slides were exposed to the air in 24 hours with each day a new slide to be placed. This explosion of slides stayed a whole year from Feb.2007 to Feb.2008.Thus the collected data of fungi were filed, verified and then classified so as to find out the dominant allergic fungi.Multivalent allergen skin tests of fungi were performed on 247 children with bronchial asthma in Huangshi region at the same period and the pattern was explored during invasion season. Results Altogether 365 slides were exposed and 12 667 fungi were collected, which falled to the 22 genres of the 4 sub-categories.And these fungi could be arranged by sum to be alternaria, smut, cladosporium cladosporioides, uredinales, leptosphaeriamaculans and many others including those even without a name. The peak period of fungi distribution in Huangshi city was from Apr to Oct,and it was affected by temperature, wind and rainfall and sunshine.Forty-two point nine one percent were positive reaction to multivalent fungi allergens,of which the hig-hest positive rate to multivalent fungi allergensⅠwas 23.48%.The result showed asthma usually happened during Apr to Aug.Conclusions There were airborne fungi in Huangshi region yearly, and the sensitive season was spring and summer.Dominant fungi were alternaria, ustilaginales and ciadosporium.Forty percent asthma had a close connection to fungi allergens. The attack of children bronchial asthma was corresponded with fungi peak duration.

Objective To build a high quality diagnosis system for schistosomiasis surveillance in the situation of low infec-tion in Jianglin County. Methods The network laboratory for schistosomiasis diagnosis was built according to the national crite-ria in Jianglin County in 2012. Results The network laboratory for schistosomiasis diagnosis was established successfully and the operation was quiet well. Conclusion The establishment and operation of the laboratory play an important role in the real-ization of schistosomiasis elimination.

To investigate the eletrophysiological effect of rat adrenomedullin (rADM) on barosensitive neurons in the rostral ventrolateral medulla (rVLM) and its potential mechanisms, the extracellular recording and multi-barrel iontophoresis methods were used. Of the 29 barosensitive neurons in the rVLM, 20 neurons demonstrated excitatory response to iontophoretically applied rADM and increased the firing rate from (10.8 +/- 2.7) spikes/s to (14.6 +/- 3.6), (19.8 +/- 4.7) and (31.9 +/- 6.4) spikes/s (P<0.05, n=20) at the current of 30, 60 and 90 nA, respectively. Application of human adrenomedullin (22-52) [hADM (22-52)], a specific antagonist of rADM receptor, distinctly attenuated the augmentation of firing rate induced by rADMjthe firing rate was increased by 15.4% [(11.4 +/- 2.5) spikes/s, P<0.05, n=10]. Another antagonist, human calcitonin gene-related peptide (8-37) [hCGRP (8-37)] had no significant effect on rADM-induced excitation. Other 23 barosensitive neurons were recorded to test the influence of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitors on the excitatory effect of rADM. In 10 neurons, 7-NiNa (neuronal NOS inhibitor) decreased the firing rate from (10.1 +/- 3.5) spikes/s to (7.5 +/- 2.5), (5.3 +/- 2.1) and (3.1 +/- 1.4) spikes/s (P<0.05, n=10) at the current of 10, 20 and 40 nA, respectively. The excitatory effect of rADM (60 nA, 30 s) during 7-NiNa application was nearly eliminated and the magnitude of firing rate was increased only by 17% of the basal level (6.2 +/- 1.9) spikes/s (P<0.05, n=7). While aminoguanidine (AG, iNOS inhibitor) increased the firing rate at the resting level from (11.5 +/- 5.1) spikes/s to (17.8 +/- 5.6), (22.5 +/- 6.3) and (29.1 +/- 6.4) spikes/s (P<0.05, n=8) at the current of 10, 20 and 40 nA in 8 barosensitive neurons, respectively. When rADM (60 nA, 30 s) was delivered during AG iontophoresis period, the firing rate significantly increased by 60% of the basal level [(22.5 +/- 6.3) spikes/s, n=5]. These results indicate that rADM activates the barosensitive neurons in the rVLM directly and acts as a cardiovascular regulator, and that this function might be mediated by its specific receptor. NO, mainly neuronal NOS-originated might be involved in the excitatory effect of rADM in the rVLM.
