Point Dingchuan (Ex-B1) pertains to extraordinary points and often produces a good therapeutic effect on respiratory system diseases. Ancient Chinese medical books do not record point Dingchuan. Modern Chinese medical textbooks describe the location and efficacy of and indications for this point but do not state their provenances. In order to further popularize the clinical application of point Dingchuan, this article verifies the origin and development of the name and location of point Dingchuan so as to provide a certain reference for clinically correct selection and use of this point. The results show that point Dingchuan followed the course of development from ashi point to new point and then to extraordinary point. The development of point Dingchuan to the same acupoint name and location as now international use went mainly through four stages, that is, similar name and different location, similar name and location, same name and different location, and same name and location.

Background/Aims: The gastrointestinal symptom of diabetes mellitus, chronic constipation, seriously affects patients’ life. Whereas, the mechanism of chronic constipation is still ambiguous, resulting in a lack of effective therapies for this symptom. As a part of the smooth muscle cells, interstitial cells of Cajal, and platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha-positive (PDGFRα+ ) cells syncytium (SIP syncytium), PDGFRα+ cells play an important role in regulating colonic motility. According to our previous study, in PDGFRα+cells in colons of diabetic mice, the function of the P2Y1 purinergic receptor/type 3 small-conductance calcium-activated potassium (SK3) channel signaling pathway is strengthened, which may lead to colonic dysmotility. The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in SK3 channel properties of PDGFRα+ cells in diabetic mice. Methods: Whole-cell patch clamp, Western blotting, superoxide dismutase activity measurement, and malondialdehyde measurement were main methods in the present study. Results: The present study revealed that when dialysed with low calcium ion (Ca 2+ ) solution, the SK3 current density was significantly decreased in PDGFRα+ cells from diabetic mice. However, the SK3 current density in PDGFRα+ cells was enhanced from diabetic mice when dialysed with high Ca 2+ solution. Moreover, hydrogen peroxide-treatment mimicked this phenomenon in SK3 transgenic HEK293 cells. The subunit of SK3 channels, protein kinase CK2, was up-regulated in colonic muscle layers and hydrogen peroxidetreated HEK293 cells. Additionally, protein phosphatase 2A, the subunit of SK3 channels, was not changed in streptozotocin-treated mouse colons or hydrogen peroxide-treated HEK293 cells. Conclusion The diabetic oxidative stress-induced upregulation of CK2 contributed to modulating SK3 channel sensitivity to Ca 2+ in colonic PDGFRα+ cells, which may result in colonic dysmotility in diabetic mice.

A total of 100 HIN1 flu real-time-PCR positive throat swabs collected from fever patients in Zhejiang,Hubei and Guangdong between June and November 2009,were provided by local CDC laboratories.After MDCK cell culture,57 Influenza A Pandemic (H1N1) viruses were isolated and submitted for whole genome sequencing.A total of 39 HA sequences,52 NA sequences,36 PB2 sequences,31 PB1 sequences,40 PA sequences,48 NP sequences,51 MP sequences and 36 NS sequences were obtained,including 20 whole genome sequences.Sequence comparison revealed they shared a high degree of homology (96％～99％) with known epidemic strains (A/Califomia/04/2009(H1N1).Phylogenetic analysis showed that although the sequences were highly conserved,they clustered into a small number of groups with only a few distinct strains.Site analysis revealed three substitutions at loop 220 (221-228) of the HA receptor binding site in the 39 HA sequences:A/Hubei/86/2009 PKVRDQEG→PKVRDQEA,A/Zhejiang/08/2009 PKVRDQEG→PKVRDQER,A/Hubei/75/2009PKVRDQEG→PKVRDQGG,the A/Hubei/75/2009 was isolated from an acute case,while the other two were from patients with mild symptoms.Other key sites such as 119,274,292 and 294 amino acids of NA protein,627 of PB2 protein were conserved.Meanwhile,all the M2 protein sequences possessed the Ser32Asn mutation,suggesting that these viruses were resistant to adamantanes.Comparison of these sequences with other H1N1 viruses collected from the NCBI database provides insight into H1N1 transmission and circulation patterns.

Objective To investigate the effects of life-style intervention on obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).Methods A number of 168 cases with OSAHS were randomized into intervention group ( n =81 ) and control group ( n =87 ).In the interventional group,the patients received uvulopalatopharyngoplasty and life-style intervention,including cognition guide,proper diet,weight control,stopping smoking or drinking,and exercise.The control group received uvulopalatopharyngoplasty only and their living was just as usual.polysomography,body mass index ( BMI ),and symptom assessment were monitored Imonth,6months,12months and 24months after operation.The patients were followed up for more than 2 years.Results There was no statistical differences in life style between the two groups prior to intervention(P ＞0.05).The proportion of a healthy diet manner,cessation in alcohol and smoking,weight loss or good control in weight,moderate exercise between the two groups (93.8％,86.4％,69.1％,81.5％,87.7％ in intervention group,and 11.5％,36.8％,21.8％,17.2％,9.2％ in control group) showed statistical differences after intervention(x2=113.80,43.33,37.97,69.33,103.70,respectively;P ＜0.01 ).Compared to the control group,patients in intervention group had a significant improved in lowest oxygen saturation( LSa02 ),apnea hypopnea index(AHI),snoring index and BMI at 6,12,24 months after intervention(t =2.51,4.13,7.88;2.10,2.66,3.68;3.42,4.17,9.34 ;5.92,12.78,9.37 ; respectively; P ＜ 0.01 ).The observational index in intervention group before and after intervention showed statistical differences (P ＜ 0.01 ) while no difference in control group(P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions It can improve the clinical symptoms and improve the long-term efficacy of surgical treatment to reduce cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications for uvulopalatopharyngoplasty and life-style intervention on the patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome,which not only improves the life quality of the patients,but also reduce their economic burden.It is worthy of clinical application.

Objective:To understand the residents' cognition of commercial long-term insurance in Tianjin so as to provide a reference for improving service effect and quality of long-term insurance.Methods:A total of 31 residents from six districts of Tianjin were selected for semi-structured interviews from December 2022 to February 2023 by the convenient sampling method, and the data were analyzed by Colaizzi 7-step analysis method.Results:Three themes were extracted, namely, inadequate interpretation and promotion of commercial long-term insurance, immature development of commercial long-term insurance, and the ability of commercial long-term insurance to help caregivers reduce their family burden.Conclusions:The residents of Tianjin have a low awareness of commercial long-term insurance, which cannot meet the needs of most residents. It is urgent to strengthen their publicity further and improve their system.

Gastrointestinal smooth muscle layer contains two kinds of interstitial cells with special differentiation, i.e., interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) and platelet-derived growth factor receptor α-positive (PDGFRα) cells. The ICC and PDGFRαcells contact with smooth muscle cells (SMCs) by gap junctions and regulate contractive function of the SMCs. Therefore, these three kinds of cells constitute a functional syncytium, i.e., the SMC, ICC and PDGFRαcells syncytium (SIP syncytium). Various neurotransmitters, humoral factors, endogenous bioactive molecules, as well as drugs regulate gastrointestinal motility through the SIP syncytium. In this review, we introduce the concept of SIP syncytium and summarize functions of the syncytium, as well as its physiological and pathological significances.

Objective:To investigate the clinical effectiveness and significance of special fixing cartilaginous support structure on nasal tip to prevent and correct alar rim retraction.Methods:Special shaped tip extension support structure was composed of two parts of type Ⅲ of septum extension graft (SEG) and two pieces of wedge graft fixed on either side of the cephalic end near the top of support structure. After the alar cartilage vault was fixed to the nasal tip cartilage support structure, the lower lateral cartilage (LLC) cephalic was fixed to both sides of this nasal tip support structure. The LLC received support from the cartilaginous support structure to counter and correct the lower lateral cartilage cephalic retraction. From January 2017 to January 2020, this surgical procedure was used in 34 patients (aged from 20 to 46 years, with mean 32.6 years) with rhinoplasty who had a nasal tip support structure but still had a space between the LLC and the stent intraoperativly. Preoperativly, 4 cases had normal relation of alar columella and alar rim, 18 cases had mild alar rim retraction, and 12 cases had moderate alar rim retraction. The patients were followed up for 6 to 18 months to observe the correction effect and patient satisfaction.Results:Among the 34 patients, 8 patients received alar edge graft, 2 patients received lateral foot support graft, and 2 patients received alar rim graft combined with lateral foot support graft. All patients were followed up for 6-18 months, 30 patients with alar rim retraction were completely corrected, and 4 patients with normal alar and nasal columella relationship did not have alar rim retraction after surgery. No complications such as infection, necrosis, contracture or respiratory dysfunction were found in all patients. 28 cases (82.4%) were very satisfied; 6 cases (17.6%) were satisfied; the satisfactory rate was 100%.Conclusions:The special shaped nasal tip cartilage support structure combined with type Ⅲ SEG and its cephalic wedge grafts could achieve satisfactory clinical results in the prevention and correction of alar rim retraction.

Objective:To explore the feasibility and advantages of integrated prosthesis of expanded polytetra-fluoroethylene (e-PTFE) in eyebrow arch augmentation.Methods:The clinical data of 45 patients with low or flat brow arch and glabellar zone from June 2019 to October 2020 in Chengdu High-tech Zone Xinyuerong Medical Aesthetic Clinic were analyzed retrospectively, in which it included 45 women, whose ages ranged from 20 to 39 years with average 29.8 years. Forty-three cases underwent primary surgery, and 2 cases underwent repair. The e-PTFE was sculpted to be personalized integrated prosthesis according to the shape of the patient's eyebrow arch and glabellar zone. The incision was designed on the medial and lateral sides of the lower margin of the bilateral eyebrow to avoid the supraorbital foramen, and the lacunae were striped under the frontal periosteum, and the two sides were connected to cover the glabellar zone and inverted triangle area between the eyebrows. The carved e-PTFE was implanted into one side and pulled out from the other side. The prosthesis was smoothed by Venn pliers of the ventral and dorsal sides.Results:The 45 patients in this group were followed up for 6-18 months. The incisions of all the patients were healed Ⅰ/A, and the scar of the incisions was concealed. Slight scalp numbness occurred in 4 patients and returned to normal 3 months later. The prosthesis in the glabellar zone appeared in 1 case 3 months after operation and returned to normal after reoperation. The symmetry, radian, fullness, convexity and tactility of bilateral eyebrow arch were all satisfactory in 45 cases. 39 cases were very satisfied, accounting for 86.7%; 6 cases (13.3%) were satisfactory. The sagittal distance of the anterior surface of the cornea to the soft tissues overlying the supraorbital rims was (2.02±1.72) mm preoperatively and (6.5±1.19) mm in the last follow-up. The difference was statistically significant ( t=14.49, P<0.01). Conclusions:This design of integral e-PTFE in eyebrow arch augmentation is safe, effective and easy to operate. It can significantly increase the bony beauty and stereoscopic sense of the eyebrow arch and glabellar zone, effectively deepen the eye socket, improve the eye protrusion, and reduce the risk of asymmetry and prosthesis displacement, and therefore it is one of the ideal methods for eyebrow arch augmentation.
