2.Up-regulation of leptin in adipocytes exposed to high glucose and its effect in peritoneal angiogenesis

Objective By simulating a high-glucose condition of peritoneal dialysis (PD)fluid,to explore the effect of high glucose on the expression of leptin and its relationship with peritoneal angiogenesis.Methods Adipocytes differentiated from 3T3-L1 were divided into high glucose group (139 mmol/l glucose) and high mannitol group.Leptin levels in supernatant collected at 0 h,12 h,24 h and 48 h were measured by ELISA.Endothelial cells (ECs) were respectively cultured with normal glouse,high glucose,high mannitol condition,supernatants of adipocyte induced by normal glouse,high glucose and high mannitol,high glucose supernatants+leptin antibody,and high mannitol supernatants + leptin antibody.Tubular structure formation and migration of ECs were detected.Results Adipocytes exposed to high glucose for 48 h produced more leptin as compared with control group,high mannitol group,12 h-high glucose group and 24 h-high glucose group (all P < 0.05).Compared with ECs in normal group,ECs in high glucose had less tubular structure formation and increased migration (all P < 0.01).Compared with those of ECs in high glucose,the tubular structure formation and the migration of ECs in adipocyte supernatants induced by high glucose had increased (all P < 0.01),and these effects were reduced by leptin antibody (all P < 0.01).Conclusion There is an up-regulation of leptin in adipocytes exposed to high glucose,which may be an alternative way to prevent peritoneal angiogenesis.
3.Temperament and Behavior Problems in Low Birth Weight Children Aged2~3Years

Objective:To explore the effects of low birth weight on temperament and behavior prob-lems of children aged 2~3 years. Methods:50 low birth weight (LBW) children and 380 normal birth weight (NBW) children were investigated and assessed by Achenbach's children behavior checklist and tod-dler temperament questionnaire. Results:①Temperament: Independent t-tests identified that NBW children were significantly more active than LBW children(t=2.192, p=0.029). No significantly difference of tempera-ment distributing was found between LBW children and NBW children (p=0.943). ②Behavior problems: In-dependent t-tests identified that NBW children had more sleep problems than 1LBW children(t=2.20,P=0.031). There was more behavior problems of social withdraw in LBW children than NBW children (? 2 =5.427,p=0.02). Conclusion:LBW Children were less active than NBW children and they had high incidences in behavior problems of social withdraw.
4.Applicability of Zebra Fish Thrombosis Model in Antithrombotic Activity Screening of Chinese Materia Medica

Objective To investigate the applicability of zebra fish thrombosis model in antithrombotic activity screening of Chinese materia medica.Methods The living zebra fish thrombosis model was induced by adrenaline hydrochloride. Zebra fish were randomly divided into blank control group, model group, positive medicine group and medication group. Each group was given the corresponding medicine or embryo culture water. O-anisidine staining solution was used to stain and calculate the staining intensity of erythrocytes in zebra fish heart, and quantitative analysis was carried out. The platelet aggregation of transgenic zebra fish was observed and under qualitative analysis. Results Compared with the model group, 100μg/mL salvianolic acid B, 300, 900μg/mL aqueous extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 45μg/mL 95% ethanol extract and 400, 1200μg/mL hypothalamus could significantly inhibited the formation of zebra fish thrombosis (P<0.01).ConclusionZebra fish thrombosis model has good applicability in antithrombotic activity screening of Chinese materia medica.
5.Joint effect of school and family on domestic second-hand smoke exposure in middle school students

Objective:
To observe the joint effect of school and family tobacco control on middle school students, and to explore its effectiveness in reducing second-hand smoke exposure in middle school students’ families, as so asto provide a new way of thinking for controlling smoking among middle school sudents.
Methods:
A questionnaire survey was conducted on the study of 2 125 primary and high school students in four middle schools in the Dongcheng District of Beijing by means of a stratified group sampling method. Personal information of students, tobacco control environment around the family, school and surrounding ares, as well as the knowledge, attitude and behavior of students related to tobacco control was collected.
Results:
The exposure rate of second-hand smoke in the families of middle and high school students in Dongcheng District of Beijing was 33.41%. Smoking by at least one parent was positively correlated with second-hand smoke exposure in the student’s home (OR=22.88, P<0.05). Among the students who saw the "clear no-smoking label" on campus, the exposure rate (4.92%) when the smoking restriction was set on the home was lower than that of those who did not have a regulation in the home (58.94%) (χ2=452.57, P<0.01). The results of Logistic regression showed that there was a combination of family smoking restrictions and second-hand smoke exposure in middle and high school students who had seen the smoking ban on campus (OR=0.08) and had the school’s tobacco control education (OR=0.08).
Conclusion
The joint tobacco control measures between school and family can effectively reduce the exposure rate of second-hand smoke in middle school students’ families, which is better than the effect of tobacco control alone.
6.Clinical application of a retrograde nasolabial fold island flap based on the upper lip artery.

OBJECTIVETo explore a new method for enlarging the rotation range of the nasolabial fold flap.
METHODSWe designed a retrograde nasolabial fold island flap pedicled with the upper lip artery for repairing facial defects. The anatomy of the upper lip and the vascular supply to the nasolabial skin were observed.
RESULTSAll the flaps in 7 cases survived completely with satisfactory results.
CONCLUSIONThe retrograde nasolabial fold island flap pedicled with the upper lip artery enlarged the rotating range of the nasolabial fold flap. The flap is recommendable for its consistent pedicle and abundant vascular supply.

AIMTo study the synthesis and anti alpha-adrenoceptor activity of 1,2-dihydro-quinoline-2-one compounds.
METHODSAcylation, bromination and cyclization, and substitute reactions were used in the synthesis of the title compounds IV. A proposed mechanism was showed to explain the unusual compounds 5 and 6 in the route C. The inhibition activity of the six target compounds were tested.
RESULTSTwelve new compounds were synthesized (II1-6 and IV1-6). Among them, six new compounds (IV1-6) are the title compounds. Structure of the title compounds were determined by IR, 1HNMR, MS and HRMS.
CONCLUSIONCompounds IV3, IV4 and IV6 showed inhibitiion activity, and were worth further studying.

8.Subjective quality of life in children with Tourette syndrome.

OBJECTIVEThis study explored the subjective quality of life in children with Tourette syndrome (TS) in order to provide a basis for more effective interference of TS.
METHODSA total of 174 children with TS (≥ 8 years old) and 186 aged-matched healthy children as controls were enrolled. The subjective quality of life was investigated by a case-control study.
RESULTSThe total score of subjective quality of life in the TS group (156.6 ± 21.1) was lower than that in the control group (164.2 ± 21.2; P<0.01). The scores of family life, school life, cognitive component, anxiety experience and depression experience (19.1 ± 3.5 vs 20.7 ± 3.0, 24.1 ± 4.4 vs 26.6 ± 3.2, 90.6 ± 13.3 vs 97.9 ± 15.3, 24.0 ± 4.6 vs 25.1 ± 3.1 and 23.8 ± 4.4 vs 24.7 ± 3.5) in the TS group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The correlation analysis showed that the total score of subjective quality of life in children with TS was negatively related to the age, the course of disease, the severity of symptoms, the total score of child behavior problem and family conflict (r=-0.432, -0.213, -0.869, -0.137, -0.257; P<0.01), while it was positively related to family active-cultural orientation (r=0.084, P<0.01). The multiple step regression analysis indicated that the factors influencing the subjective quality of life in children with TS included the severity of symptoms, age, family conflict and family active-cultural orientation (β'=-0.787, -0.171, -0.109, 0.106; P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONSThe subjective quality of life is not well in children with TS. It is important to control clinical symptoms and improve family environment for the improvement of the subjective quality of life in children with TS.

9.Verification of the Origin and Development of the Nomenclature and Location of Point Dingchuan (Ex-B1)

Point Dingchuan (Ex-B1) pertains to extraordinary points and often produces a good therapeutic effect on respiratory system diseases. Ancient Chinese medical books do not record point Dingchuan. Modern Chinese medical textbooks describe the location and efficacy of and indications for this point but do not state their provenances. In order to further popularize the clinical application of point Dingchuan, this article verifies the origin and development of the name and location of point Dingchuan so as to provide a certain reference for clinically correct selection and use of this point. The results show that point Dingchuan followed the course of development from ashi point to new point and then to extraordinary point. The development of point Dingchuan to the same acupoint name and location as now international use went mainly through four stages, that is, similar name and different location, similar name and location, same name and different location, and same name and location.
10.Vitamin A levels in breast milk and its influencing factors

Vitamin A plays a significant role in maintaining normal metabolism, cell differentiation, reproduction, vision and anti-infection. As a major food source of vitamin A for infants, the level of vitamin A in breast milk is highly important. Recent studies have shown that vitamin A levels in breast milk varied significantly in different stages of lactation, populations, regions and gestational ages at delivery. Moreover, studies demonstrated that it was also affected by many factors, such as maternal serum vitamin A levels and amounts of supplements during pregnancy, maternal vitamin A intake during lactation, maternal diet, high or low risk pregnancy, and vitamin A reservation in maternal liver. It is vital to understand the level of vitamin A in breast milk and its influencing factors to improve breast-feeding.
