1.The B.Lynch suture to control massive postpartum hemorrhage
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(5):37-39
The B.Lynch suture to control massive postpartum hemorrhage : Authours present a case of massive postpartum hemorrhages by uterine of a 27 year-old gravida1 woman with stillbirth and severe hemorrhagic shock. All medical emergency treatment and bilateral hypogastric ligation were performed unsuccessful. Hysterectomy was indicated. But there is no reason why to do hysteretomy for a young primipara woman whose child was died. With the B.Lynch compression suture was immediately carried out, we have saved her life and preserve and maintain further her reproductive function.

3.Some clinical features and diagnosis of the upper urinary tract calculus that included the complication of renal failure
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1999;232(1):125-131
From 1992 to 1997, 982 calculus in the upper urinary tract (UUT) was removed. There were 10 acute renal failure and 75 chronic renal failures. The study deserves special commentaries. Renal failure occurred in both groups patients bilateral calculi (group I) and calculus in the single kidney (group II). The members of chronic renal failure were much higher than that of acute renal failure. Renal failure in group II was 2.24 time higher than in group I. The risk was equal for both sex. In group I, the rate of renal failure increased with long history of disease and patients in very short time. Among high - risk factors for renal failure we noted: calculus in many location, bilateral Staghorn calculus multiple bilateral calculi or calculi with calculi in the single kidney, calculi urinary tract infection. Roentgenography, ultrasound, and radioisotope examinations were used as non-invasive techniques for those patients

4.Using physical method to determine the previous freezing of absorbed DTP vaccine
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2005;15(4):21-26
Absorbed DTP vaccines in the same Lot (produced by IVAC, Nha Trang) were kept at 4°C, -5 +/-10oC, -20°C on 2, 3 and 6 hours. After being thawed completely, the vaccine containers were vigorously shaken and the contents were examined for physical changes. The results showed that the containers kept at 4oC had no physical changes; the containers kept at -5 +/-10oC, 20°C for 6 hours had significant changes such as agglomeration, floccules or granular matter, and sedimented rapidly. It is suggested that structure of aluminum adjuvant in DTP vaccine is changed. The containers kept at -5 +/-10oC, -20°C for 6 hours can be considered as the positive control and the shaking test can be used to determine the previous freezing of adsorbed DTP vaccines.

5.Establishment of the first national reference pertussis vaccine
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2005;15(4):42-48
Quality of RP5 pertussis vaccines for National Reference was tested and its potency was also calibrated in comparison with the International Standard of Pertussis Vaccine. The results showed that the candidate for National reference RP5 pertussis vaccine lot was met to the quality requirements after being freeze dried. The homogenicity in dry weight, residual moisture, potency and stability of its potency make it became as the first National Reference standard pertussis.

6.The incidence of tuberculosis in two children groups after 3-4 years receiving intradermal immunized BCG vaccine with the different doses of 0.05mg and 0.025mg
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2005;15(5):107-111
The study was performed in two children groups after 3 - 4 years receiving intradermal immunized BCG vaccine with the different doses of 0.05mg (216 children: group I) and 0.025mg (232 childern: group II) at some communes in Tu Son, Bac Ninh province and Thanh Tri district, Hanoi city. Results showed that the children malnutrition rate and tuberculosis exposure were the same and there was no statistically significance (P>0.05) in both groups. There were children with IDR (+), IDR > 15 mm, IgM, IgG and IgM antituberculosis, PCR (+) in the rate of children, delayed sensitivity reaction with tuberculin, the abnormal lung X-ray, IgG and IgM antibodies, and the rate of PCR (+). The rate of morbidity of tuberculosis in two children groups was the similar (0.46% and 0.43%, P=0.519). There was no case with meningitis and no statistical difference between two tuberculosis cases.

7.Evaluation of activated charcoal on the adsorption of thyroxine in experimantal rabbits
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(11):37-39
A research was carried out on 75 rabbits weighted from 2-2.5 kg. The two general types of charcaol used in the experiment were powdered and suspension activated charcoal. Both of powdered and suspension activated charcoal had been sufficient adsorption of thyroxine ingested. Activated charcoal administered 1g/kg body weight 5 minutes after dosing with thyroxine 10mcg/kg had possibily of adsorption of thyroxine ingested better than that administered 0.6g/kg. There was no significant difference in possibility of adsorption of thyroxine ingested between powdered and suspension actived charcoal

9.Evaluating the results of surgery on phalangeal fractures with Kirchner wires in the Hue Central Hospital
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;519(9):61-64
There are some methods to treat the phalangeal fractures. The objective of this study is to see effective treatment of phalangeal fractures by open reduction during Kirschner wires. This study was conducted at the traumatology and orthopedics department, Hue hospital, from May 2002 to May 2003. The follow up period was 3 months to 8 months after surgical treatment of 31/43 patients. Results: Hand function following open reduction: excellent: 10 cases (26.32%), good: 11 cases (28.95%), fair: 13 cases (34.21%), bad: 4 cases (10.52%). Complications: complications of K-wire fixation of this study had a low rate; the postoperative recovery was still limited. Conclusions: this technique is effective, safe, and inexpensive with low morbidity.

10.Pubertal characteristics in adolescents and knowledge on sexuality and contraception: baseline survey on adolescent health in Chi Linh district, Hai Duong province.
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2008;18(6):25-37
Background: Adolescent is a special period in life with the transition from childhood to adulthood. At this age period, adolescent experience physical and psychological changes with typical characteristics of puberty is the first ejaculation in male and first menstrual cycle in female. Objective: To explore the onset of puberty and knowledge on pubertal changes, sexuality and contraception in adolescent and various related factors. Subject and methods: A longitudinal study of adolescent health is conducted on 12.447 subjects (including 6.108 males, 6.339 females), living in Chi Linh district, Hai Duong province. Data used in this article is from the baseline survey of the adolescent health research project \u2013 a field site of the Hanoi School of Public Health. Results and Conclusion: The pubertal age is 15.6 years for male and 14.6 years for female. The onset of puberty in girls is earlier than that in their boy counterpart and is earlier in younger age groups, that suggest the trend of earlier onset of puberty in adolescent. The pubertal age is earlier in urban adolescent compared to the rural ones and is earlier among those having better economical conditions compared to poorer ones. The difference is statistically significant (p<0.05). Adolescent lack of knowledge on puberty, sexuality and contraception. 57.8% of adolescent knows at least one of the pubertal characteristics and only 6.5% of males and 17.6% of females knows the time most fertile in the female menstrual cycle. 49.6% of adolescents have heard about contraception, in which 56% of them (53% males and 58% females) heard about condoms. In general, the knowledge on puberty, sexuality and contraception is higher in female, urban adolescent, higher education and older adolescent. The difference is statistically significant (p<0.05 or <0.001).
