1.To find the risk of HIV transmitted in some areas of Lang Son province

From Jaruary 5 to 14/2003, in Lang Son, an interview was conducted involving 131 subjects discussing about the risk of transmission of HIV. They are: users of intravenous drug injection, prostitutes and their sex partners, stress children, HIV patients… There were 1393 intravenous drug users, this number was not reduced, even increased sex worker group includes 50 subjects with the trend of increase gradually. There are potential risk behaviours. Among about 150 street children, 20-30% had sex intercourse with prostitutes, 10-20% girls were forced in sex relation. The increasing groups of 600-800 of public motobikes drivers, who had risk sexual behaviours with prostitute, were an important cause of HIV transmission

2.The awareness about the reproduction health and the control of STD &HIV/AIDS among adolescence in Thanh Xuan District - Ha Noi

In Thanh Xuan District - Ha Noi, from June to July 2000, representatives of adolescence, which compose of 20 students of high school, 10 students of the university, 10 plant workers, 10 shop and restaurant workers were enrolled in a qualified study in combining with a quick assessment and an attendance of the community. 100% adolescent subjects manifest their wishes to be aware on the reproductive health and on the control of HIV/AIDS and STDs. 70-100% know syphilis, gonorrhea, 95-100% know HIV/AIDS and STDs. 70-100% subject know the use of condom. As regard the attitude, most of them do not agree with sexual relation before 20 years old of age. As regard the behavor, 60-80% of them conduct the sexual relation with the consent from two parts, hotel and guest house are the site of choice. In practice, 40-66.7% of them use contraceptive medicament, 20-33.3% use condom

3.HIV infection risk estimated in some areas of Nghe An province

A 1997-2002 retrospective study of data related to AIDS control in Nge An province was conducted. The state, the tendency and transmission risks of HIV in subjects with high risk behaviours were uncontrolled. About 4313 subjects having high risk behaviours of transmission of the disease. Among about 257 sex workers, 30-50% injected intravenous drugs, 30-40% sharing injection needle with their partners, 2-10% did not use condom. About 450 street children, among them girls 1% beared sexual violation, 3-5% were intravenous drug users. Among about 500-1000 public motobike driver, 1-3% were intravenous drug user, 10-20% sharing needle

4.The status and the evolution of HIV/AIDS epidemy in Nghe An province in 1997 – 2002 period

A retrospective survey on HIV/AIDS control data from health services and related functional branches of Nghe An province in the period of 1997-2002 was conducted. The epidemy have evoluated continuously. In 1996, 4 HIV/AIDS infected persons immigrated from other province. In December 2002, 1922 had immigrated, among them 256 were transferred to AIDS patients and 83 died. There were 1510 native people were infected with HIV, among them 183 were transfered to AIDS and 72 died. About 90% officers and cadres, 80% urban population, 70% rural and mountain population have had awareness and proper attitude about HIV/AIDS. 70-80% high risk subjects were approaches the education and consultation of HIV/AIDS control

5.The status of HIV/AIDS epidemy in Lang Son province and the response to it

From 1997 to 2002 in Lang Son, HIV/AIDS epidemic evaluated and was going worsen. In the year 1997, there were 260 cases of HIV/AIDS, but in December 2002, 1511 cases of HIV infection were detected, of them 556 were evaluated to AIDS and 506 died. HIV/AIDS interventing were developed in large scale with good results, especially the education for HIV/AIDS control and various programmes of minimizing the damages

6.To assess the risk of HIV transmission in some district of HCMC

Study 3 representative districts of Ho Chi Minh city on number of people and the risk of acquiring HIV. The result shows some factors relating to high risk of acquiring HIV: 75,8% HIV found in drug addicted persons, especially the number of prostitute using drug tends to increase, and risker is easy and depraved life including using the same injection needle and do not use comdon when clients order. Besides, other factors include street children with the age of 10 to 19, construction workers. Therefore, there is a need to improve the awareness and practice skills to change behaviors leading to high level of acquiring HIV. And enhance the capacity of staff and their profession and skills in managing, caring, consulting and treating HIV-infected persons

7.The status of HIV infection and syphilis in high risk women in some areas of Quang Tri province

Basing on the questionary, the incidence of infection of HIV and syphylis was assessed on 250 sex workers and poor rural women living in Dong Ha town (Quang Tri province) from May to Dec 2002. Results showed an incidence of HIV infection 1.56% of total and of syphylis infection 17.5% in prostitutes

8.Knowledge about consulting and preventing HIV/AIDS infection of private medical workers in Cam Pha town, Quang Ninh province

The study was carried out for assessing the background, the skill of counselling and the knowledge about HIV/AIDS of private medical professional in 16 villages and wards of Cam Pha, Quang Ninh province from March to April 2002. Results showed a low rate of private professional who answer well the questions about the knowledge of counselling. They had a good knowledge on the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The government must encourage the private medical professional to contribute into the community, especially in terms of HIV/AIDS patient care

9.Preliminary results of the consultation, treatment and preventive counselling for HIV/AIDS transmission in private health institution in Cam Pha Town, Quang Ninh province

In Cam Pha town, Quang Ninh province, preliminary achievement in terms of management, counselling and prevention of HIV/AIDS?STIS at private health service institutions showed that: infected subjects were mainly in 21 - 40 years old group (80.7%), higher in female than in male gender and the highest (42.2%), emplyees and > 68% marrieds. At private health service institutions, the number of clients who visited for treatment and consultation was small and was not homogenous, among them 83.47% received advices for preventing and treating HIV/AIDS/STIS, 59.09% were referred to HIV examinations and 74.95% received medical prescriptions. Therefore, Cam Pha must take more measures to promote the quality of private health activities

In Cam Pha town, the private health servies were developed broadly with a diversity of activities growing and perfecting gradually. Various specialtus were developed with a large professional staff of qualified levels, prosperious experiences and long carrier in health service. However, in this system there are some bad facilities poorly equiped, with a low capacities both in quantities and in qualities. It is necessary to take a variety of measures to promote the size and the level of private health services in Cam Pha
