1.Upper ureteral calculi removal by retroperitoneal laparoscopic lithotomy (report of first 17 cases)
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;515(7):11-14
A prospective study was carried out on 17 patients with upper ureteral calculus treated by retroperitoneal laparoscopy in Viet Duc Hospital from Nov 2004 to Apr 2005. Results: The blood loss was usually not much (20-100 ml). It was difficult to remove calculi due to they moved up to kidney, it must enlarge the incision. There were two cases of peritoneum perforations during the operation that had been sutured. In postoperative period, patients were stable, there were no complications besides mild abdominal pain at the incision; 1 month after the operation, these patients well recovered. This procedure is superior to traditional open surgery with less complications, shorter of hospitalization stay, rapider recovery...

2.Situation on retroperitoneal endoscopic surgery in the treatment of upper urethral gravel
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;0(6):11-13
Urinary lithiasis is a common disease in internal medicine and surgery. In period of 10 year (1982-1991), the number of patients came to Urinary Department of Viet Duc hospital for urinary lithiasis was 38%. There are 5 surgical treatment methods for urinary lithiasis: classical surgery, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy and recently is the retroperitoneal endoscopic surgery. There were urinary procedures had been performed by retroperitoneal endoscopy. In 1969, Bartel performed the first time the retroperitoneal endoscopic technique by mediastinum endoscopic machine. In 2003, Nguyen Van Hiep et al reported 36 patients who had upper urethral gravel were treated by retroperitoneal endoscopy; the successful rate was 32/36 cases, there were 4 cases had to be open operated, complication rate was low. The initial application of retroperitoneal endoscopic surgical technique in the treatment of upper urethral gravel achieved encouraged results, it also has prospect of being applied in other complicated urinary surgeries.

Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2005;0(12):31-35
Background: Premature ejaculation is one of the most common sexual dysfunction which affects the quality of life in both men and women. Objectives: To assess the effects of a topical anesthetic mixture in the treatment of Premature Ejaculation (PE). Subjects and method: Fifty-six men diagnosed as PE were guided to use a local anesthetic mixture of procaine-xylocain applied to glands on the penis before sexual activity (about 15 minutes prior), the course of treatment lasted 3 months. Results:There was a significant increase in the mean of intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IEL n from 1.87 to 8.41 mins (p<0. OS) and satisfying scores of both overall sex life and sexual relationship with their partners. General results were divided into 4 degrees: good (30.2%) average (43.4%) no result (15.1%) and negative results (11.3%). Some side effects included retarded ejaculation or anejacualation (9.43%) decrease of glands penis and vagina sensitivity (28.3% and 9.43% respectively). Conclusion: While there is no effective therapy for PE, anesthetic creams might be effective for treatment of the disorder. \r\n', u'\r\n', u'

4.Efficacy of iron supplementation on control of anemia among infants
Journal of Medical Research 2002;18(2):47-52
A randomized, double blind study on 483 infants aged 5-7 months in Quevo district, Bacninh province was carried out for 6 months. The infants were randomly received one of two following syrups: iron sulfate (10 mg of elemental iron/day) or placebo. By the end of the study, Hemoglobin, serum ferreting and transferring receptor value was significantly improved in iron supplemented group in comparison with placebo group. Hemoglobin value and its changes over the study period were significantly increased in both two groups but more significantly increased in iron supplemented group in comparison with the placebo group. This change was significantly higher among the initial anemic infants than the non-anemic ones. Tf-R is significantly higher than cut-off-point in 100% anemic and non-anemic. The study reflected that serum transferring receptor indicator is more sensitive and accurate for diagnosis of iron deficiency status than serum ferreting, in particularly among the initial anemic infants than the non-ademic ones. Tf-R is significantly higher than cut-off-point in 100% anemic and non-anemic children. The study reflected that serum transferring receptor indicator is more sensitive and accurate for diagnosis of iron deficiency status than serum ferreting, in particularly among infants. The result of this study can contribute to setting up the national plan for controlling iron deficiency anemia among Vietnamese children.

6.Some opinions of intracranial arachnoid cysts in 11 operated children in Saint Paul hospital.
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1999;232(1):172-175
Since October 1993 to October 1995, 11 cases of arachnoid cysts in infant of 2 months -14 years old were operated on at the neurosurgical dep of Hanoi Saint-Paul hospital. Results: excellent and good results: 7/11. Relative: 4/11 No death was reported. The author presents an analysis of detailed clinical signs, anotomo - pathology for clinical diagnosis and surgical treatment, and the method of choice for the treatment. The diagnosis must be made early by CT scaning or Echography.

7.Some observations about the causes of death due to skull traumata at Saint Paul Hospital in the years 1998-1999
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):20-22
A total of 1,144 cases of skull traumata were treated (vs. 410 cases in 1966). Retrospective survey showed mortality rate was 75.9% in male subjects (66), and was 24.1% in female (21). 69% was patients with aged from 20 to 60 and 25.3% above 60 years. Travelling incidence was the main causes of death, which made up 87,3% of fatal cases. The majority of admitted cases had respiratory disturbance. Assisted injuries were very severe which caused the death in early 6 hours and the death occurred in 50% of fatal cases during 3 first day after the admission

8.Pedicle ligation for treatment of the benign tumors
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1999;232(1):147-150
22 patients (male:16, female:6) with ages of 12-78, had a benign tumors in mucosa of stoma, lip, face, ear, neck, breast. The tumor had a small base and pedicle. The tumors were treated by pedicle ligation. The results have shown that the average time for separating the pedicle was 2-3 days, there were no complications. The treatment was a good efficacy and can be easily applied in the health services in all levels.

9.Synthesis and biological effects of some furfural derivatives
Pharmaceutical Journal 1999;282(10):10-12
Nitration of furfural to give 5-nitrofurfural diacetate (NFD). By the condensation of NFD with 2-butanone (or acethylacetone), two cetone a, b-ethylenic deriva-tives (I,II) were formed. Condensation of furfural with acetone to give (XII). Condensation of I (or II or XII) with various H2N-B compounds to give 15 derivatives (III-XI, XIII- XVIII). The structure of the obtained products were characterized by elemental analysis and IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The synthesized compounds were tested for biological ethylenic activities such as antibacterial and antifungal. Among these, two cetone a, b-ethylenic derivatives of 5-nitrofurfural (I,II) showed a high antibacterial activity on 10 strains of bacteria and a high antifungal activity against Candida albicans.

10.Some discussions of pathological morphism of thyroid through scintigraphic images on gamma camera
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1998;6(2):71-74
A study on the morphism of patients with thyroid diseases (most of them with long-term hyperthyroidism treated by antithyroid drugs and operation) was carried out on 60 scintigraphy with gamma camera. The results have shown that the scintigraphy was very good value to diagnose the thyroid nuclear, plummer, marine-lenhart syndrome and determine the proper dosage.
