2.Mosquito infection with microfilaria two years after administration of a combination of diethycarbamazine and albendazole in Khanh Vinh district, Khanh Hoa province
Journal of Malaria and parasite diseases Control 2003;0(1):64-68
The study was conducted in Khanh Trung commune, Khanh Vinh district of Khanh Hoa province to assess the mosquito infection two years after DEC administration. Seventeen species of mosquito belonging to 5 genera have been found of which the main vector Wuchereria bancrofti was predominant. Indoor collection of Culex quinquefasdatus at daytime and nighttime was 3.5 and 2.3 individuals/house, respectively. Cx. vishnui was mainly found on the cattle sheds with an average density of 4.6 individuals/shed. A total of 578 mosquitoes of five species (Cx. quinqllefasciatus, An. vaglls, Cx. tritaeniorhynchus, Cx. vislznui, Cx. fuscocephalus) were dissected. None of them were positive with microfilaria.

3.Skull defect cranioplasty after operation of traumatic brain injury with carbon composite "intost-2"
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;517(8):57-60
Cranioplasty was proposed by Falloppio and later by Pare in 1634. During the last century, in particular, there has been a marked increase in the use of alloplastic materials for cranioplasty comprising a wide variety of materials: tantalium, titanium, acrylic, polyethylene, silicone and ceramics. The authors assess the efficacy of cranioplasty with carbon composite” intost-2” for cranial defect post brain injury was realized in the Department of neurosurgery of Saint-Paul hospital. Methods: from 10/1997 to 11/2004 , 124 patients skull defect after operation of traumatic brain injury underwent cranioplasty with carbon composite “intost-2”. there were 103 males (82.33%) and 23 females (17.66%) whose average age was 27 years (rang 5 to 55 years). 74 patients (51.61%) had an operation for acute subdural hematoma with or with out brain contusion and penetrating brain injury. One hundred one patient (81.45%) had large defect (>5cm) while 27 patients (21.77%) had very large defect (>8cm). Results: the operation successful rate was 98.39% (122/124). there were two infections because of cutaneous necrosis need secondary cranioplasty. Conclusion: The cranioplasty with carbon composite “intost-2” had good result in spite of large defect.

Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2004;8(4):227-231
From January 1999 to December 2003, 60 adult patients with intussusception were treated at Cho Ray Hospital, Hochiminh City. The results showed that: among them, evident etiology was recognized in 86.7% cases, including 63.5% intestinal tumors. Of cases of small intestine tumors, there were 12 benign cases (85.7%), and percentage of colonic tumors were malignant 76.9%. The treatment depends on etiology and site of intussusception. 3 surgical procedures were disinvagination, intestinal resection and right/left hemicolectomy. Surgical successful rate was 93.3%. There was no death

5.Reconstruction oesophageal-intestinal condinuity after total gastrectomy
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2004;8(2):125-127
The prevelence of gastric cancer in population is different according to areas but ingeneral, it is more likely in all countries. Surgery is the main treatment. Treatable surgery is gastrectomy. There are 2 different views in cutting total gastrectomy i.e. total gastrectomy based on rules and total gastrectomy by requests. There are many reconstruction oesophageal-intestinal condinuity in total gastrectomy in order to response 1 or 2 aims as follows: To create 1 sac instead of cut gastrectomy, to make patients eat more, their health will be better; Foods is intested by natural physiological route, through duodenum to small intestine in order to produce more bile liquid and pancreatic juice during digestion

6.Safety and advantages of endoscopic surgery
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2004;8(4):199-203
From May 1995 to August 2004, laparoscopic cholecystectomy for 33 kinds of endoscopic operation according to 7 different specialities: bile-liver, digestive tract, abdomen, urine, thorax, joints with total number 7.462 were done. The duration of implementation of each operations were different. The mortality of laparoscopic cholecystectomies was 0.03%, postoperation events was 0.23%, complications was 0.23%. The duration of post-operative hospitalization was 3 days. Endoscopic surgery is safe and minimally invasive in comparison with open surgery. With advantages of endoscopic surgery, the surgeons can reach the lesions in the deep locations

7.Evaluation on outcomes of women with breast cancer stage II who were treated by mastectomy and responsed to scanlon at Hue Central Hospital
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;501(1):62-65
Study was carried out on 115 patients with breast cancer stage II, IIA who were treated by mastectomy and responded to scanlon at Hue Central Hospital. Results shơed that among them, 21.7% had metastatic recurrence by 5 years. The common recurrence was in chest wall (3.4%). There was relationship between metastatic recurrence and metastatic nodes under armpit. Metastatic recurrence was high when there were node metastasis under armpit with I, II degree. Metastatic recurrence related to clinical and histological period. Overall, 60-month survival rate was 68.2%. Patients with stage IIA have highest survival rate (85.7%). Metastatic lump under armpit related to survival time. 88.7% patients without metastatic lump under armpit had 5-year survival. The 5-year survival rate in patients with metastasis in degree I was 62,4%. The smaller tumor is, the higher 5-year survival rate is

9.Evaluation of bronchial asthma and treatment in outpatient department of Nhan Dan Gia Dinh Hospital
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2005;9(4):234-242
A prospective study was carried out to evaluate the severity of asthma by classification and to evaluate the GINA-based treatment. 102 asthma patients older than 1 year of age were classified in 4 steps of severity (GINA): step 1 (32 patients), step 2 (49 patients), step 3 (16 patients) and step 4 (5 patients). Most of asthma patients of steps 1 (31.4%) and of step 2 (48%) had slightly asthmatic symptoms and mildly affected lung function: PEF >80% (23.3%), moderately decreased PEF = 80% - 60% (57.5%). There were 1175 days of school-day or working-day loss. 32% of asthma patients had no specific treatment because of lack of knowledge; 48% of cases received an inappropriate treatment due to misdiagnosis and underestimation. 33.3% of patients used oral long acting β2 agonist (LABA) combined with inhaled corticosteroid (ICS); 25.4% of patients received inhaled LABA combined with ICS in our study; 66.6% of patients had lung function improved on 4th week of treatment
