A prospective study was carried out on 17 patients with upper ureteral calculus treated by retroperitoneal laparoscopy in Viet Duc Hospital from Nov 2004 to Apr 2005. Results: The blood loss was usually not much (20-100 ml). It was difficult to remove calculi due to they moved up to kidney, it must enlarge the incision. There were two cases of peritoneum perforations during the operation that had been sutured. In postoperative period, patients were stable, there were no complications besides mild abdominal pain at the incision; 1 month after the operation, these patients well recovered. Urinary lithiasis is a common disease in internal medicine and surgery. In period of 10 year (1982-1991), the number of patients came to Urinary Department of Viet Duc hospital for urinary lithiasis was 38%. There are 5 surgical treatment methods for urinary lithiasis: classical surgery, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy and recently is the retroperitoneal endoscopic surgery. There were urinary procedures had been performed by retroperitoneal endoscopy. In 1969, Bartel performed the first time the retroperitoneal endoscopic technique by mediastinum endoscopic machine. In 2003, Nguyen Van Hiep et al reported 36 patients who had upper urethral gravel were treated by retroperitoneal endoscopy; the successful rate was 32/36 cases, there were 4 cases had to be open operated, complication rate was low. The initial application of retroperitoneal endoscopic surgical technique in the treatment of upper urethral gravel achieved encouraged results, it also has prospect of being applied in other complicated urinary surgeries.

Background: Premature ejaculation is one of the most common sexual dysfunction which affects the quality of life in both men and women. Objectives: To assess the effects of a topical anesthetic mixture in the treatment of Premature Ejaculation (PE). Subjects and method: Fifty-six men diagnosed as PE were guided to use a local anesthetic mixture of procaine-xylocain applied to glands on the penis before sexual activity (about 15 minutes prior), the course of treatment lasted 3 months. Results:There was a significant increase in the mean of intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IEL n from 1.87 to 8.41 mins (p<0. OS) and satisfying scores of both overall sex life and sexual relationship with their partners. General results were divided into 4 degrees: good (30.2%) average (43.4%) no result (15.1%) and negative results (11.3%). Some side effects included retarded ejaculation or anejacualation (9.43%) decrease of glands penis and vagina sensitivity (28.3% and 9.43% respectively). 41 children aged 7-15 years with typhoid fever (S.typhi positive blood culture) treated at Dong Thap provincial hospital from October 1999 to April 2000, were evaluated concerning the severity of the condition and the outcome of cytokine response. Results showed that the use of cytokine antibody on dissolved receptors of cytokine could have high value in severe typhoid patients. The systemic elevation of cytokine, especially IL-6 was common in children with typhoid fever and associated with the severity and the progression of the disease, high level of cytokine in hospital admission point was an important prognostic sign.

The prospective study concerning some factors related between depression and anxiety with AIDS severity was performed on 36 AIDS patients with the manifestation of depression and anxiety associated to other mental disturbances in a total of 76 AIDS patients. The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of AIDS, the clinical disorders of depression and anxiety, and paraclinical date were investigated. Results showed the depression on 8.56% of cases, depression disorders were not difference between various age group. There was a positive proportional relation between AIDS severity and depression and anxiety.

A survey was conducted during 2001-2003 year period in NuocNhi village, PhuKhanh commune , KhanhVinh district, KhanhHoa province in order to evaluate the malaria morbidity three years after interruption of using permethrine insecticide impregnanted bednet In this period, the new incidence in various age groups, including 2-9 years old of age group, was similar with that of 3 previous years when this impregnanted bednet had been used, from the year 2000 to 2003, only 5 cases of splenomegaly, 1st level splenomegaly were reported, even in the 2-9 years old of age group.Splenomegaly and anemia frequencies trended to reduce.The density of Anopheles population in general and of An. dirus in particular trended to enhance. In the year 2001,An.dirus density increased by 2 folds in comparing with the mean of that of previous years when insecticide impregnanted bednet had been used, but this density was as low as15,7% of that before this use. Elecotroacupunture was applied on Tuc tam ly site in 50 healthy persons aged 19-25, some organs were affected on cerebroelectrogramme (CEG), on 2 hemispheres wave indices varied (alphawave increased 10-15%, beta, theta, delta decreased 3-5%). Acetylcholin level increased by 210%, catecholamin 227% in comparing with those before the acupuncture. Inhibition of transmission through monosynapse reflexe at myelospinal level was reduced (latent duration after the electroacupuncture at tuc tam ly site was 40ms, prolonged by 35ms in comparing with that before the acupuncture. The amplitude of H wave after acupuncture was 0.3mV, imcomparing with 1.4mV before that).

Blood hypertension of Can hoa vuong (from of “aggressive liver fire”) form was common in subjects aged above 50 years (73%) and mainly in intellectual subjects (60%). Electroacupuncture was applied on the sites of Thai xung, Phong tri, Bach hoi, Thuong tinh, Thai duong, Tam am giao, giving an effect of reduce blood pressure. Before the acupuncture, there were 52% of cases were hypertension of 1st stage and 48% of 2nd stage. After the treatment, on 40% of subjects, normal blood pressure had been restored and 60^ had returned to hypertension of 1st stage, none in 2nd stage of hypertension.

Electro-acupuncture was applied for 149 perceptive deaf children. The control group included 43 deaf children treated by speical education method. Results showed that: in the group of electro-acupuncture, 53.3% had got improvement, higher than the group of special education by 23.3%. The improvement rate was higher in mild deaf group, than in severe group. It was also higher in acquired deaf subjects than in congenital subjects. In the deaf caused by “can dom hoa cuong” (aggressive fire of liver and bile), improvement level was higher than the deaf caused by “than am hu” (failure of kidney yinn). The treatment with more courses had got higher improvement than with less courses.

Retrospective investigation was performed on 16 patients with lymphoid tumor in mesentery operated in Viet Duc Hospital from 1991 to 2001. Diagnosis signs of clinical value included: abdominal pain (93%), loss of body weight (56,2%), tumor palpable in abdomen (75%), mobile tumor (58,33%). 12/16 patients undergo an ultrasonic examination and in 4/12 ganglion tumor, 2/12-mesenterial tumor, 6/12 undefined tumor in the abdomen were detected. The operation must be considered to solve the complications (11/16 patients) and determine the phase of disease. Once the result of pathological anatomy is concluded, a post-operation chemiotherapy must be realized systematically
