1.Morinda longissima Y. Z. Ruan, a new Medicinal Plant to the Flora of Vietnam

Morinda longissima Y. Z. Ruan (Rubiaceae) has been found to be a new medicinal species to the Flora of Vietnam, it is increased the species of Morinda in Vietnam from 10 up to 11. Morinda longissima Y. Z. Ruan is used by the experience of the people in Son La town; Than Uyen district, Lao Cai province. Its roots can be used to treat hepatitis and cirrhosis. In addition, the people in Chieng An commune, Son La town also use its roots or old trunk combination with Psychotria sp. (Rubiaceae) to treat colonitis with good results

2."Khua nam bet" - a traditional medicinal plant of Laos

Analysis of morphologic features of Khua nam bet plant of Laos. Results: the scientific name of this plant has been identified as Uncaria macrophylla Wall. (Rubiaceae). The morphologic features of this plant are a shrub, with stem and branches rises up to 3-5m, brown bark, opposited leaves, flower rises from armpit of leaves with the diameter of 1.5-2cm; small capsule about 2cm with dark-white short soft feathers. This is a popular medicinal plant of Laos and it was newly used in trational experiences: whole plant is small choped, dries up, extracted to treat high fever induced seizure. In addition, Ministry of Health of Laos has approved “khua nam bet” regime in treatmen of hypertension, joint pains, and vertigo
