National Journal of Andrology 2017;23(1):65-68
Objective:
To explore the relationship between the clinical and genetic features of a short-statured azoospermia male with the karyotype of 45,X.
METHODS:
Using GTG-banded chromosome analysis, we performed karyotyping for a 150 cm-high infertile male with azoospermia and investigated the presence and location of the genes on the Y chromosome by FISH and PCR.
RESULTS:
GTG-banded chromosome analysis showed the karyotype of the patient to be 45,X,add(14)(p11). The results of PCR manifested the deletion of AZFa, AZFb, AZFc, and AZFd in the SRY gene. FISH revealed the translocation of the short arm of the Y chromosome to that of chromosome 14 and deletion of most proportions of its long arm, with the disruption site close to the centromere region. The karyotype of the patient was 45,X,der(Y)t(Y;14)(q11;q11.2), 14.ish (SRY+, CEP Y+ , DYZ1-).
CONCLUSIONS
The karyotype of the patient was unbalanced Y/14 translocation. The SRY gene is the key to maleness. The deletion of AZFa- d induces spermatogenic disturbance, and the deletion of the q arm of the Y chromosome may be related with short stature.

Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex(MOC) is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in China. It is spicy-warm in property and bitter in flavor. It has the effects in eliminating dampness, eliminating phlegm and removing fullness. It is commonly used for dampness obstruction to spleen and stomach, chest and epigastric distension, glutinous grains, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and abdominal distension. It has a good efficacy in treating gastrointestinal discomfort and anorexia in clinic. The results showed that MOC mainly contains phenolic compounds, alkaloids and volatile oil. Magnolol, honokiol and other phenolic compounds are the main active substances, with obvious pharmacological activities on digestive, nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. In addition, it also has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-bacterial, anti-tumor and anti-oxidation effects. Except for magnolol and honokiol and other active substances, MOC flowers also contain volatile oil, with a similar effect with MOC but a weaker function. It is mainly used for treating spleen and stomach dampness, fullness, chest and epigastric distension. In addition to magnolol and honokiol and other phenolic compounds, MOC leaves also contain volatile oil, flavonoids and polysaccharides and other chemical components, which have antibacterial, antioxidative, vasodilatory and other pharmacological effects. It can be used as medicine instead of MOC in clinic. In this paper, the pharmacology studies of MOC in recent 5 years was reviewed, in order to better develop and utilize magnolia bark and its waste flowers and leaves, and further develop relevant functional products with MOC as the main drug, while providing new ideas for expanding the resources of TCM.
8.Current insights into the aetiology of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis
Chinese Journal of School Health 2021;42(2):316-320
Abstract
Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is associated with multiple physical and mental health problems among adolescent patients. This is a multi-factor, multi-system process of disease evolution. Patients with mild scoliosis can choose to receive conservative treatment with braces and regular follow-up. Once scoliosis progresses, surgical correction is often required. With the development of surgical pedicle screw technology, surgical correction has achieved good results, but other negative effects of long-term follow-up of scoliosis are not clear. This paper summarizes the existing AIS pathogenesis from the aspects of heredity, hormone, nervous system, skeletal system and biomechanics.
9. Application prospect of oncolytic virus detection of circulating tumor cell in precision medicine of bladder cancer
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2020;33(6):644-650
Morbidity and mortality rates of bladder cancer (BC) are still rising with a poor prognosis. Therefore, better biomarkers are urgently needed to advance the accurate diagnosis and treatment of BC. The limitations of the different detection techniques of circulating tumor cell (CTC) cause that the CTC as biomarkers of point of view of diagnosis and treatment of BC is not yet clear. This review first compares and analyzes the current CTC detection technology methods, and then reviews the five aspects of screening, diagnosis, staging, curative effect monitoring, prognostic evaluation, and personalized treatment of patients with malignant tumors with oncolytic virus and CTC. The application of oncolytic virus detection CTC in BC was evaluated. The results suggest that oncolytic virus with fluorescent protein combined with fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometer are used to detect CTC. This method can be only used to detect live CTCs, instead of dead CTCs. The CTC count is more accurate, efficient with high sensitivity and specificity. It can also perform phenotypic analysis of CTC and single-cell sequencing. It can be used for screening, diagnosis, and guidance of targeted therapy for bladder cancer, assessing efficacy and judging prognosis which has a very broad clinical application prospect for advancing the accurate diagnosis and treatment of BC.

Objective:
To understand the similarities and differences in different dosage forms of tuberculin test for college students having close contact with tuberculosis in Nanning colleges and universities in order to provide reference for the prevention and control of tuberculosis.
Methods:
A total of 7 771 students were screened for symptoms and tuberculin skin test(TST)、X radiographs from 2018 to 2019 in Nanning. The used doses of Purified Protein Derivative of Tuberculin (TB-PPD) in 2018 and 2019 were 2 IU and 5 IU respectively.
Results:
A total of 916 positive cases were detected in 2 years, with the total positive rate of 11.79%. Total strong positive number was 184 and the strong positive rate was 2.37%. The number of tuberculosis patients was 17. Positive rate of the students from grade one to grade four was 13.88%, 8.57%, 10.59%, 10.29%, respectively. The difference was statistically significant(χ 2=46.30,P<0.01). The positive rates of male and female in the past two years were 13.24%(500/3 777) and 10.42%(416/3 994), respectively (χ 2=17.84, P<0.01),and there was no significant difference in the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis among TST positive patients (χ 2=0.29,P=0.59). The positive and strong positive rates of 2 IU dose and 5 IU dose were 7.57%, 15.04%, respectively, the difference in dosage forms were statistically significant (χ 2=114.41,P<0.01). The tuberculosis case detection rate (CDR) of moderate & above positive subjects of 2 IU and 5 IU dose was 6.92% and 2.07%, respectively, the difference was statistically significant(χ 2=6.60,P=0.02).
Conclusion
More positive tuberculosis cases (including moderate & strong positive) can be detected by using 5 IU dose, though it is may not have advantage over discovering tuberculosis patients comparing to 2 IU dose. However, it is more critical to minimize the following cases and control the outbreak in university.
